Chapter 6 - 6

An invitation to a ball at the Palace is an important thing. All nobles wearing their lavishing clothes and making connections. I have never been to a ball before, nor a party for that matter. I stared at the gold decorated envelope, a ball to celebrate the birth of a Prince, more specifically Jesseline's son.

I... I want to go. I want to see how such events takes place. I also want to dress in lavish looking clothes... But am I allowed to? It's been a long time since I've been standing here outside his office. I'm afraid to meet him.

He already hates me and yet here I am asking to go to a ball for his unrequited love's son. Heinz opened the door and took me in.

Ah my husband looks dashing as always. It seems he's wearing a black waistcoat today. It suits him. As his eyes finally looked up to me he frowned when he saw the letter in my hand.

"Keep it there " he said.

I went ahead and placed it on his table. My heart was pounding every second, maybe I'm starting to shake due to my nervousness but I finally got the courage to open my mouth.

"Um... Ceaser... I want to go." I finally said it. He hates it when I call his name but I didn't wanna call him husband it's too embarassing. As I waited in anticipation I started fidgeting my fingers. My nails looks dull. I wish I could paint my nails like others.

"Okay go get ready." He said.

I didn't really misheard it did I? He went back to his work after saying that. Ah is this happiness I feel? I don't know but it's warm and good.

"Thank you!" I said and left him to this work.

Those maids who hates me were now getting excited. Ready to get their hands on me. Unlike before they brought out more colourful clothes other than black. They wanted me to look the most beautiful they said. Strange and yet I liked hearing it. Is this what other wives felt when they were getting ready for a party?

As I stood before the mirror, I was impressed. The maids really did their best. This time my dress was a dark sapphire matching with my husband's eyes. I really looked beautiful.

When I came out, Ceaser was waiting for me by the carriage. Ah my colour matched his. We really do look like a couple now... I like it. I wish everyday is the same. His long silver hair tied in a high pony tail, he truly was handsome.

He looked at me for a while and went inside. I forgot he hated me for a moment. How foolish was I to get carried away by this. Heinz offered his hands and helped me get in. Atleast someone is kind to me.

If I said carriage ride was the best then I would contradict myself now. It's just me and my husband in this small space. It's suffocating. I don't wanna be near him, I'm sure he doesn't want me by his side.

After a long hour I finally came to the palace. It's my first time. The gate was so big and there were guards everywhere. Finally my husband reached out his hand. Ah that's right, public image matters. I took his hand. They were big and regid, I wish I could held this hand everyday.
