'Wait! What? Wasn't this supposed to be the side effects of my game addiction?!'
The strange screen was still there, and I can't dismiss it as another dream of mine. My ultimate dream during middle school, when I was a part-time dedicated gamer. Hoping that one day the world would turn into an RPG game and I will be the one my family brags about for once.
Meaning I couldn't have been hallucinating about it. Right, the others seemed to see something, too. Turquoise even described it.
I can hallucinate on my own, but it's not like everyone can hallucinate all together!
'Though, it's still strange...'
Lucas's shouting voice snapped me out of the system window. He was kicking Angel without knowing how much of a monster he was. Only if he knew that man was like a rule around here, he might have frozen in place like the young leopards next to the boiling hot spring.
Luckily, Angel didn't seem to feel anything as he dramatically fell to his knees. I fell too.
"I can't believe those paranoid things mother said were true... What should we do now? How is Gold gonna survive alone? What can I do?!!"
"If anyone is gonna make it out, all my chips are on Gold!" Emerald ridiculously said while looking at Angel with disdain.
She was so right that I wanted to say damn but my sore throat only let out coughs..
"Cough! Cough! Cough!"
My coughs turned his attention to me again. This time looking more sober and less out of his mind.
"What do yo know?" He cried out in a low voice while staring at me with narrowed eyes.
"Why should I be the only one to explain?"
Everyone looked conscious. The back and furth glances couldn't get any more confirming.
"This morning, how did everyone understand something had happened? That something was wrong?" I asked, while circulating my stare between Angel, Lucas, newly arrived Silver and Cinnamon, and Emerald.
No one other than Turquoise seemed to be unaware of the situation outside.
Lucas made an escape attempt.
"What are you talking about? Any sane person seeing that window saying 'Doom has arrived!' would think monsters are ascending!"
His slip of tongue made me glare at him in contempt.
"Oh yeah? Shouldn't that very sound individual think of this an advanced game developing testing version? Monsters? We havn't even seen one and you have just spilled your cover darling! Nice attempt! "
He turned his gaze away from me. I turned my gaze to Angel.
"Maybe a senior would want to start?"
Angel, who looked out of it again, regained his focus. He looked around and his eyes maxed on the half naked teenagers next to the lake.
"We should resume our conversation inside. It won't be safe here much longer!"
Angel's words made a spark in my brain. The memories of the burning, freezing and smashing apocalypses I have been seeing a lot lately came to the surface.
"No, we should dig first!" I shouted in horror.
Everyone looked at me with confusion.
"What?" Silver was the first to exclaim.
There is no time to explain. I felt it coming. Just like the feeling I had at the children's villa.
"I will bring the tools! "
Turning to the Angel, I ordered him.
"Angel, you fill the water tanks. "
He stared at me before nodding and ran out as if he grasped what I meant.
"Everyone else, start digging any plant there is in here!"
Shouting, I tried to remember the whereabouts of my gardening equipments. According to the visions, all the land attached to the walls will soon freeze, leaving only about 10% of all the lands and
'I left all the food and some other cartoons in the kitchen's inventory room... All of my expensive orders and solar cells in the Library room... Where are the shovels?'
I remember putting them in the truck, but I don't remember putting them out. Pretty sure they weren't inside either.
"Lucas??"
Lucas, who had just hesitantly started digging up a flower bud, looked up.
"Do you know where the shovels and other gardening stuff are? I don't remember moving them out of the truck...?"
"Ah those? "
He raised his brows in realization as he happily shook off the soil on his hands and stood up.
"I know, follow me!"
The others took their hands off too and followed us out. I cast them a confused look.
"We will just bring tool!"
"And we will just bring them alongside you guys!"
Cinnamon commented in a very sarcastic tone. The others looked as much unwilling to stay and dig.
"I have a disease that prevents me from working when others slack! It's called I am not a pushover!"
Silver said while glancing at Emerald, who looked at him with a smirk.
"Your such a child!!"
"Oh, and how about you, mademoiselle? You always run away from work first!"
"I am not slacking! Just following by the example!"
Then Emerald looked at Lucas with a fierce glare and then turned it to me with a self justifying look on her face. It took me aback. Why is she so angry?
"Whatever you may mean? "
Lucas snapped back and was about to get closer to Emerald, that I got in between them. Thier bickering was oddly familiar to me. I really hate playing the mediator and I am always in that position!
Be it between my siblings, parents, grandparents, relatives, colleagues, or children, I always end up being the mediator!
"Ease up! We all go bring the tools and then we all dig together! No one is slacking... Or we are slacking all together, which sounds pretty fair to me!"
Looking at them, one was missing.
"Do you want to come too? Turqo- Nothing, continue baby~~"
I wanted to call out to Turquoise to come along too, but seeing him effortlessly dig out the plants, or should I say, the trees, I changed my mind. Turned my back to him as I got closer to Silver.
"Psst! Will Turquoise be fine on his own? Like, is he super strong or something?"
I whispered with my head tilted towards him.
"Yes, I am! I even beat Silver and Emerald at the same time!"
I bet I could hear both Emerald and Silver grinding their teeth. Seems like I asked a taboo question again.
"Lucas, why aren't you leading the way...?" I mumbled as I passed by him hurriedly to escape this intensified atmosphere.
Surprisingly, he leads us somewhere I wouldn't have thought of, even in my wildest dreams. The gardening equipments, the large steel stuffs together with the hunting rifle grandpa had left behind were all under his bed firm.
"Well, I don't even want to think why you have stored them under your bed! Everyone take anything you can-"
Before I could finish, Silver had sent a wind, and everything was floating next to him. I hurried towards him. Taking the gun.
"Everything except this one!! Bring them to the glasshouse, please!"
Silver passed by the others mockingly, with a straightened back. Before Emerald could attack his smug back, I took her arms.
"Rest of you follow me to the kitchen. We need to bring the pots for the plants!"
*
As I filled the last of the old pots in the inventory, the pots I had bought, all my left over dishes and all the cartoons with the last of the digged out plants, Cinnamon, who was holding a bag for Silver to fill with soil suddenly turned to me.
"Why the hell are we digging soil?" He asked in an annoyed tone.
Just as I was organizing my words, the temperature started decreasing rapidly. The next second, a thin layer of frost formed on the ground, as the soil still attached to the ground turned dark grey.
[CLANG!]
"Holly sh-xx!"
It was the sound of the shovel Lucas used to dig the ground, clanging to the rock hard ground.
[Clang! Clang!]
"What is this?"
It was Emerald looking taken aback by the until now pretty soft soil that had turned into this iron like material.
" Because of this..."
I answered Cinnamon, staring at the ground. It was just like in my dreams. How many civilizations had destroyed because of these phenomena? I had witnessed tons of them in those visions.
It wasn't the wall itself that was the most horrifying, but it was what came after it. A nightmarish phenomenon where the soil became useless...
