Chapter 53 - Panter newcomers

'I shouldn't panic. Let's organize the scared children!' I thought as I shouted while running towards the one at the very end of the glasshouse.

"Everyone, take how many boxes you can run towards the castle!"

Before I even halfway back, the eyes ice-blue-eyed girl from a few days ago had picked up Turquoise and ran past me. It wasn't only her. Over ten panthers were running towards the castle and before I know, I got picked up too.

It was the man from yesterday. The one with the attitude who claimed he hadn't trespassed. He had me under one arm and Lucas under the other.

He put us down only when we were in the castle. To be exact, he dropped us, like bags of rice!

"Ouch!"

"Uh!"

"Go bring in everything the plants and soil!" He ordered his fellow panthers. I glared at the man who had made himself at home and sat on the coach. 'It's my home!' Is what I held to myself since their number was higher than us!

Taking off my eyes of him, I searched for the children. One, two, three, four, ...

"Where is Silver?" I asked Angel, who had just entered the house.

He frowned before running out again. Leaving the horrified yet coward me behind. How am I such an irresponsible and coward adult? When am I going to grow out of my childhood?

After what seemed like years to me and decades to the Cinnamon held back by Emerald, Angel came back with unconscious Silver under one arm and wounded Jerald under the other. My heart dropped.

"What happn-"

Angel's icy tone pierced through my words, not letting me finish.

"Both are fine. Just energy depletion."

"That dumbass wanted to dig that iron hard soil..."

Emerald's voice was full of disdain as she rattled on Silver. Starting loudly and finishing in a murmur like voice, affected by Angel's frosty glare. I released my held breath. Well, who cares as long as they are fine...

Not even ten minutes had gone by that the summery dump weather turned into a blizzard. The air inside the hall was heavy and everyone was in a panicking condition.

Even though I made sandwiches, no one ate other than me and Turquoise. Not even the newly woken Silver and Emerald, who were always bickering, talked. A nerve wrecking silence.

Trying to dampen the tension in the air, I stroke a random conversation.

"Angel, did you fill the tanks?"

"Yes."

His voice was so cold and empty of life that it dropped the temperature a few degrees. It also made me regret opening my mouth.

My entire body felt feverish. Why do I always have to make a laughing stuck out of myself when I know these guys are professionals in giving the cold shoulder? At that, in front of a group of green horns!!

"What are you doing here?"

"Wha-?"

The arrogant lying trespasser's voice came from where Angel's stony gaze aimed. The ice blue eyed man looked right into Angel's intimidating eyes, not intimidated.

"Father sent me to bring back the runaway cubs."

This time, it was my turn not to let Angel talk. I jumped between them with both my hands in the air.

"Wait, a second!"

I gazed at them back and forth. Black hair and black hair. Ice-blue eyes, silver eyes! I dropped to my knees with a blowing out my breath. Then I turned my head to Angel with a tired expression.

"Just tell me he isn't your brother!! I beg you!!"

For the first time after he had seen the wall, his expression changed. His eyes narrowed down and his mouth looked like he had eaten something disgusting as he cast a glance at the guy.

"What makes you think I am Vulcan's brother? Of Course we are not, I am way more handsome..."

"Huh! Thank god!"

I took a deep breath from relief, but it was too early. Soon, Vulcan's voice came.

"Yeah, that was a humiliating assumption. I refuse to anyone thinking I look anything alike my old senile niece!"

"Hah, senile? Not as senile as your parents who made not only a child the same age as my youngest son, they also made a child younger than my youngest grandchild!"

Saying that with eyes full of disdain, he then turned to me to get confirmation.

"You are the youngest, no?"

I could just shake my head, which didn't make him lose confidence in his words.

"He made children that are the same age as my youngest great grandchildren...! And I look younger than you with your ugly clothing and grandpa's haircut. "

His tone was disdainful and ridiculing. It confirmed who Grandpa had taken after to be so nerve wrecking.

However, besides the fact that he indeed looked younger than the poor guy who was now on fire, it was completely unrelated.

'But is his grandfather still alive? Am I really a vampire's great grandchild?' I wanted to ask, but Angel didn't really look that good, which I honestly didn't care that much about.

As someone who's tortured by the visions for 80% of my days, I have become numb to these mild longing emotions. I am not even sure if I will react to stronger emotions, either.

Recently, I can't even handle my own emotions and be sad or happy feeling them. The only emotion I never seem to overcome could be the dreadful awkwardness.

The reason for my hesitant to ask question is the fact that I am not so close to him as to ask about his beef with this guy or ask him wither he is a vampire or not.

Our relationship goes way too back. We are not close enough to be explaining family situations, ask for help or comfort. Old friends, or better said strangers!

"Better to look old than to be as violent and crude as your great grandchildren who don't even consider family relationships and point gun at their great aunt!"

I frowned at Evelyn, who glared at me while saying those words. Did she just insult me in a roundabout way when I was just doing what my senile grandpa told me to do, in my own fu**** house?

I took a deep breath and ignored her glare. An adult shouldn't get affected by a greenhorn's words. It's not worth making the already chaotic situation even more chaotic.

Other than that, she is indeed a great great great aunt.

'And I may have been under Grandfather's influence and gone overboard too...'

I was trying to calm myself with reasons that I made eye contact with both Angel and Vulcan behind him. Vulcan had an obvious expression. It was as if his opinion's written on his forehead, saying:

"Such a scary villainess. First she wanted to kill my sister, then she was about o run over me!"

I looked into his eyes with narrowed eyes and a tilted head as I gripped my pulsing neck. How can someone be so self-righteous? Even if I ain't proud of what I did, it's not like they are any better!

"She's running her mouth! She was the first one to attack, that one wanted to bite off my head!!" Lucas looked way more arrogant and self righteous than Vulcan or Evelyn.

Saying things I couldn't allow myself to say.

"Tsk! That's disappointing... You are a shame to the Miracle family!"

It was Angel, the unreadable look on his face changing into a disappointed one. He cast a disdainful look at me...

"Why??? Suddenly, what are you insulting me for?" I groaned. Thinking that I even controlled myself to be considerate because of him!

He scoffed as he pulled a bottle of wine out of nowhere and popped its head open.

"Don't go around calling yourself my relative when you didn't even shoot when someone intruded and even stool your water!"

He said, shaking his head as he started gulping down the entire bottle. I became speechless. Not because of his words, but by the bottle.

Seeing my stare at the bottle, he sighed before pulling another one and tossing it to me. Catching the bottle that almost landed on my nose, my pulse raised and my eyes shone.

"Your creeping me out!" He mumbled as he turned his head with disgust and turned around to leave the crowded kitchen that no one was eager to leave ever since entering the house through the kitchen's door.

No one had left it. Not even the depressed Jerald with scratches all over him.

Somehow, the warm kitchen had started to becoming a safe place in everyone's minds. Before my mind would become bewitched further, I run after Angel.

"Wait! Didn't you get it from your own house?"

"What's the point? I can't teleport to anywhere on the other side!"

'So, he can't go, but can bring things? What about sending things back? '

I was still struggling with my thoughts that the half empty bottle in his hand, which I had my focus on, disappeared and he stopped walking. His sudden action made me bump into his stone like back.

"Ouch!"

I rubbed my forehead with the cold bottle in my hand and was about to curse that many gasps came from behind me.

"Holly shit!"

"OMG..."

"What the..."

...

Turning my head, I saw the crowd from the kitchen. All looking towards the hall with flabbergasted expressions. A scene I couldn't see as the mountain like Angel had blocked my view.
