An alarm clock blared to life, screaming for attention from the occupant of a one person sized bed.
"Hmmm"
The occupant groaned as he reached over and... knocked the alarm clock to the floor.
They clearly were not a morning person.
The occupant sighed as they repositioned themselves, ready to carry on sleeping.
But it wasn't happening.
"Ross! Get your behind out of that bed before I kick it!"
Ross's bedroom door was kicked open by a robust woman with long brown hair. The woman wore a blue apron, had two rose shaped earrings and her face was aged with wrinkles but it held a sense of kindness.
Except for then. Right then she looked furious.
Ross groaned and covered his head with his blanket. The woman's eyes narrowed and she pounced.
"Dummy!"
She jumped onto the bed and started pounding on the sleeping man with her small hands.
"Ahh! Help! I'm being killed!" Ross cried and the woman got off and smacked his head.
"If you don't get out of that bed, you'll be killed for sure. Now get up, or I'll get the rolling pin." The woman finished and left the room.
Ross groaned in protest but his desire for slumber was not happening. So,with a miserable groan, he got out off bed and went to the bathroom.
Ross looked into the mirror, seeing a slightly average but handsome face of a brown haired, brown eyed early twenties young man.
Twenty minutes later, Ross came from his room, showered and changed into a blue shirt and brown pants.
The woman from before was in a small kitchen, with blue tiles and small stove. She was cooking synth pancakes.
Synth pancakes were an artificial replica of pancakes, made with carefully combijed chemical compounds. Real flour, eggs and milk was expensive...and not something Ross could afford daily for them. He was the only one with a job, the woman was unemployed.
"Hey Nana Rosie. What's for breakfast?" Ross asked with a smile, feeling less grumpy and sleepy after a good shower.
"It's pancakes. You're favourite." Rosie said with a sweet smile.
"But I hate pancakes." Ross whined and Rosie gave a chuckle.
"That's what you get for trying to sleep in. You remember today is that important meeting. With the Heads of Deadpool. It's a grand special day and you wanted to spend it sleeping?" Rosie tisked her tongue "You need a good spanking on your rear end. Knock some of the stupid out of you."
"Hey, I remembered. I just- "
"Is this about the Woodsman boy? That Liam fella?" Rosie shook her head as she set the pancakes on a plate "You've been coming home, speaking sweet nothings about him since he joined your squad. But that's all you've done. Talk my ears off about your crush."
Ross whined softly " Nana, it's not my fault. I just ...want to confess my feelings at the right time. I thought I'd done it on ...you know, that mission where we lost his cousin. But, he never mentioned it. I think second times a charm...as soon as the right time comes."
"What? The right time?" Rosie scoffed "Been over a year and you're still waiting for the right time? Oh boy, don't make me follow you to work and say it for you."
"You wouldn't" Ross gasped dramatically.
"Try me" Rosie said threateningly but then they both laughed.
"Well, I'll get going. Liam is picking me up." Rosie gasped "Kidding. I'm kidding. I'm taking the bus."
"Oh, my sweet boy. Don't give my old heart hope. I'll die of a heart attack. " Rosie chuckled softly "Now, you hurry on up. I'll start with the house work and see you later. "
Ross got up and walked to the door.
"Excuse me, are you forgetting something?" Rosie got up, folding her arms. Ross sighed as he went back in and gave her a kiss on the cheek. Rosie smiled and kissed his forehead.
"Have a good day."
"You too Nana."
Ross left the building and Nana Rosie was left alone.
