The next day arrived at a blink of an eye. Not wanting to argue, Valeria had slept on the couch while Liam slept on the bed. He felt weird but he didn't want to abandon the soft mattress. Besides, she herself told herself to sleep on the couch.
The two were to go get married legally and they did, reluctantly. Soon, they were back home where everything was decorated.
Actually, Jake's mansion was divided among his children. LT was the name of Leone's part where he lived with his children. The part had everything needed in a house, kitchen, living room bedrooms and more.
Now, LT was decorated in marriage stuff which was definitely Sofia's doing. As soon as Valeria saw it, she frowned.
"What's going on?" She asked no one in particular.
"Everyone is happy about your marriage except yourself," Liam answered.
"I swear one day I'm going to leave this place," she muttered as she headed for her room and slammed the door.
Liam smiled in amusement then started thinking. He was married, he knew that much and it didn't matter much to him. He knew that he was lucky to be given a chance to live as a husband rather than a slave.
What piqued his interest was this new family he was in. One thing was for sure, it held many secrets. What made him conclude this was the series of events that kept happening.
Valeria, a typical player, was forced to marry. This wasn't surprising. What actually interested him was that she easily agreed and in a way, promised to stop her bad habits. Her grandparents seemed to be strict so she would most probably keep her promise. Why easily agree to just stop what you love doing so easily? Without any resistance at all?
Moreover, he realized that this was a big family at the dining table. He also realized that everyone sat with their lovers and children and one of them had no one. If Sofia and Jake were okay with that, why did they force Valeria to marry? Additionally, they had many grandchildren, all of them single with some being older than Valeria, including her own brother.
Of course, this could easily be masked as a way to make her stop her bad habits but... In common situations, Valeria would have rebelled even more rather than be tamed.
Liam sighed. He knew he was not normal and that Valeria couldn't give birth. Sofia and Jake knew his condition but kept it to themselves. Could it be a small answer to one of his questions. Even so, why would they care so much if Valeria didn't?
That's true, this new wife of his seemed to not want to know anything about her family. Either that or that she knew and ignored them. The former was more sensible as she didn't even ask him questions like, why did he agree to the marriage, where he came from and all that.
This meant his wife was also mysterious. Everyone in the family seemed to hate her and it seemed to be the only thing she knew. She was a player and was supposed to act like a spoiled brat, maybe she did but her aura was different. It was impossible not to feel her iciness. What actually brought about all this?
Why was Leon silent when everyone insulted his daughter? Why did Valeria's brother give her hatred looks? Yeah, Liam saw them no matter how much they were hidden. And where was Leon's wife?
'So many questions,' Liam thought and a smile made its way to his lips. He loved the mystery that he was definitely going to solve. First, he was going to decide on how to keep his personality around everyone.
They all thought that he was a greedy man who married for money. He was not going to give them that...
"Sir?" A maid pulled him out of his thoughts. Ah, it felt so weird to be called sir after being a servant all his life. Guess rewards do come.
"Please drop the formalities, call me Liam," he said this with his head lowered, as if shy. The maid was flustered. The rumors she heard were definitely different from what she was seeing.
"Oh no sir, if I do that then I'll be fired," she waved her hands. Liam didn't dwell on that topic, he already got what he wanted. Shy exterior. If he lingered in that area, he would break everything.
"Oh, I'm sorry," he said, "I wanted to explore the place, that's why I'm here. I guess I lost my way." As he said all this he rubbed his fingers.
"I can show you back, sir," the maid was now smiling, as if happy about everything. "But, didn't you ask Madam Valeria to show you around sir?"
Perfect! The maid had lowered her guard. "I did but... No, I can't tell," he pursed his lips and his eyes showed fear.
"Don't worry sir. I won't tell anyone if you don't want me to." Liam smirked inwardly. 'I know you'll tell and I'm perfectly fine with it.'
"Well, you see, she hurt me," he said in a low voice, taking the role of a timid person. It wasn't a lie, she hurt him, and he was going to use that to juggle people's minds. With a bit of exaggerating of course.
