Valeria chuckled but her eyes darkened. It was obvious that Liam's words affected her. "You believe others that easily? I thought you were smarter than that," she said with a chuckle.
Liam paused, "So you're not like that? Then what about what Harley said?" It made sense but Harley wouldn't just say anything.
"You call him by his first name?"
"I don't consider myself related to him," he said.
"Doesn't that mean you don't consider yourself related to me?"
"You don't want to answer my earlier question," it wasn't a question.
"You don't want to answer my recent question either."
"If we're not answering each other's questions then get off me." They were still on the bed, with her on top of him.
"You do know that I'll answer all your questions if you just accept to do what I said."
Liam was fully aware that she was saying this because he would never accept it so, "Okay then, go ahead." As soon as he said that, she kissed him.
It's not that Valeria wanted to do anything, but the fact that she was so close to him made her act on instinct.
The kiss was driven by people who as always, didn't understand what was going on. Their lips moved entirely on their own and only when they were out of breath did they break away.
"You're crazy!" He said once he came back to his senses. Valeria stared at him for a while and then kissed him again. Her hand, definitely not controlled by her, skimmed his clothed upper body.
Her lips moved to his neck where she bit and licked. His light moan lit something in her and she was sure she wouldn't stop herself.
Fortunately, or maybe unfortunately, Liam pushed her away when she wanted to undress him.
They now laid next to each other on the bed, each slightly panting. If anyone came in at that moment, they could tell something had totally happened.
She was still half naked and his clothes were disheveled.
"What were you going to do?" Liam asked in a trance.
"I don't know what came over me," she was also in a trance.
"Let's just forget it happened."
She sat up and stared at him, "I can't do that." Not only was the whole thing too much for her but she also knew herself. She wasn't the type to jump at any random person. Actually, she had never jumped at anyone.
"Then let's never talk about it."
"I can't do that too," she said and he looked at her inquisitively, "because I'll probably do it again."
Liam also sat up and glared at her, "Why do you think I'll let you?"
"I know you won't, but I'll still do it."
Liam's glare got more intense, "Don't think that just because I can get pregnant I'm less than a man!"
"What does that have to do with anything?" She smiled.
"Just now, you took advantage of me! I'll never let it happen again!"
She hissed pretentiously, "It isn't taking advantage when the other enjoys it," she paused, "Actually, I think you'll let me do it again."
A small blush covered his cheeks and he chose the easiest way out, "I'm going!" Argh! Why did he have to say that? Nevertheless, he got off the bed and practically ran away, out of the room.
...
Liam sat in the main living room silently with his head lowered. Earlier, when he got out of the bedroom, he was informed that Jake called for him.
"Has she been treating you well?" Jake asked and he didn't have to explain who she was. It was definitely Valeria.
Liam nodded, he was putting up the naive, innocent, weak front.
"I was informed that she just came back home after days, and she was drunk."
That caught Liam's attention. Drunk? Definitely not. That meant that Valeria pretended, it explained why, during the few moments he was with her,he never saw her drink despite being told she was addicted.
"Anyway, I called you here to tell you that you're required to go to a banquet with Valeria. I've not told her so you will have to do it."
"Okay." Liam had questions, like, why were they the ones going? However, he knew that Jake called him specifically because he wouldn't ask questions.
If he were to ask such a question, Jake would be suspicious. He was different from the rest because he couldn't tell him that Valeria had mistreated him, it would bring unnecessary trouble. Hence, Jake didn't fully trust his facade at the moment. If he suddenly asked a question, directly or indirectly, Jake would certainly be suspicious.
"Well then, I have to get back to work. You can leave. Have a good day," Jake stood as he said this. Liam also stood, bowed and left.
Liam spent the rest of the day catching up on rumours by the servants while Valeria spent it sleeping due to exhaustion.
Liam didn't want to see Valeria for the rest of the day thus he missed seeing her sick. Her body was covered by thick layers of sweat and she was trembling. All this while she slept.
By the time Liam got back into the room, he was shocked to see all her wet as well as the blankets she laid on.
He walked towards her and woke her up, "What happened?"
