Ellianor sighed as he pinched his temples. "The Architect. She speaks in my mind, and can hijack my body if she feels like that."
Aur's eyes took a sharper light, the smile she wore like a mask crumbling to pieces, replaced by cold seriousness and professionalism.
"She was… messing my body from inside a few moments ago."
While it could be interpreted as a bad move to say what was going inside him to Aur, she was a warden, and for now, they were the only allies Ellianor and Kissenn had.
"The eclipse saved me from… enduring a worse pain than I had to." Ellianor lied, betting on the fact that the Eclipse was a wild card for everyone.
The knowledge of Kissenn booting out The Architect was one thing he deemed too specific, private, and dangerous to be spoken openly. Luckily for him, Aur did not catch on to his lie.
"I see…I'm sorry for that. As your superior, and senior on this mission, I should have done better than waiting for the best outcome." Aur regretted the gap she left in her guard.
For her, someone like The Architect couldn't act subtly and go under her nose, but now she was proven wrong.
Red eyes met with red, vital liquid falling from Ellianor's nose, eyes, and ears, even some on his mouth. She sighed, and picked up a handkerchief, cleaning the blood off his face.
Her eyes filled with some sympathy.
"Oh dear. Have you not noticed that you are bleeding?" Aur asked her junior, who widened his eyes in surprise and horror taking one hand to touch his face.
She stopped moving, to let him gauge and see that he was bleeding. For a moment, his heart froze. "Do I have… some kind of brain damage?"
His brain and nervous system were messed up by the Architect. Ellianor feared how it would affect him if it could affect him at all. The damage may have been deeper than he thought…
"Don't worry, you are alright. If you weren't… my first concern would be fixing you up. I am no doctor, but I am sure I could make something work." Aur reassured Ellianor, as she returned to clean the blood off his face.
Her handkerchief was painted red by his bleed. Ellianor resisted the urge to look away, to not mess with her gesture of kindness. "I'm sorry." He made a mess, and now a senior was taking care of him.
Her red eyes fell on the handkerchief, then it moved up to look him in the eyes. "It is just a piece of cloth. If I did not use it to clear anything, it would never have a use."
She reassured him again, his eyes cast downwards. 'Did I make a mess back there he was bleeding from his room, maybe the corridor had a trail of blood too…
"Don't worry about that, it can be cleaned up later. You just had your head picked by something far greater than you. Most would be happy by being alive." Aur whispered.
The shame in Ellianor grew by being that petty, and worrying about those small things. "hm. You seem to have quite a right head. That is nice, it may make our time in the Scrapyard easier."
Ellianor blinked and looked down. "How the Scrapyard is?" Knowing what they would get into when they made landfall could be nice.
Aur laughed, just a single, small, and carefree laugh. "Just like everywhere else. People don't change that much unless they have some weird biology. They are people, treat them as so."
"Make friends, explore the Scrapyard. It is a place like any other, and it is up to you to make it worth it." She finished cleaning off his blood. The cylinders that accompanied her turned.
She stored the handkerchief inside a box, and one cylinder released something from its insides.
It was like a cassette tape made entirely of light. Aur smiled, as a remote control appeared.
She got the TV up, and the light tape entered into a cassette video recorder, the machine came to light, and the video showed on the TV. "Since you can't sleep, let's kill the time."
Ellianor raised an eyebrow, confused by the sight before his eyes. "What is that?" He questioned his senior, who smiled, placing her feet over the table.
"A series from my home planet. Translated to the language you call English so I can watch with others." She smiled proudly, waiting for the series to start past the initial credits.
Ellianor held his chin, as he gazed at the almost retro-looking devices before him. "Hm. What is it about?" He learned the lesson she wanted to teach earlier, so Ellianor chose his topics without care.
"A typical teenage romance back in my home world. Although you humans may… not find it relatable at first." Aur looked at his sandwich.
Ellianor sighed and broke half of it, giving it to her. "Thank you for your kindness." She took a bite out of it.
The series started. A heavy, torrential rain was the first scene on the TV. "My planet is filled with heavy rains, and floods. We are more used to the dark and water than the sunlight."
It was an interesting insight. 'Maybe that's why your eyes are head and your skin blue?' Little sunlight and more water in a world could have those effects in theory.
"Why isn't it relatable to humans?" The black-haired man decided to get the elephant out of the room first. Aur smiled at him, and placed a finger over her throat, pressing it.
"We can send soundwaves and signals to our people, and we don't communicate our emotions through facial expressions and voice like you humans do." She smiled at him.
It was not a poker face or a mask, but a genuine smile. Ellianor smiled back in silent admiration. 'If they use soundwaves like whales and dolphins… it must have been troublesome to learn…'
Her smile was perfect not wrong about it. She caught on to his thoughts. "Just imagine how troublesome it was to translate it…"
