He turned to check the other 2 species.
His fourth species was Golden termites.
These were meter-sized termites, as there was a restriction on the size of species a ruler could have. A meter was the minimum, and he did not know the highest restriction.
Termites were a common insect-type species, though he never heard of their golden variant.
Still, it would not be much of a problem for him to hide their uniqueness.
He found these termites had hive mind traits. It was a cool trait that allowed the termites' queens to send signals to other termites' brains.
He saw this species had 2 royal families.
In termites, the royal family was a bunch of queens that could give birth to others. Having two families would increase their population in no time.
The biggest problem with insect types was they only worked along the path of Hierarchy.
Any insect species relied on their numbers. So rulers need to establish a detailed chain of command.
Without the path of hierarchy, any insect-type species were nothing but mindless swarms.
That way, he did not want to select this. He turned to the last species of ghost.
They looked like those cheap artists who tried to scare others with their half-assed makeup skills. He just looked at this species with shining eyes.
This species was so rare that he did not even know if a player could get them in the start.
In his past life, he had seen no player with the ghost-type species.
Still, he did not think that it would be a problem to hide ghosts because of the abundance of undead species present in the game.
A player with no knowledge would assume them to be more like some sub-variant of undead. Just looking at the ghosts, he thought of the spirit species.
Similar to ghosts, spirit species also were ethereal, and they were best for certain kinds of evolution lines.
He had a feeling that ghosts would also work on the evolution path.
This species of ghost also had these weird ghost aura traits that he was seeing for the first time. He felt a strong temptation to take it, but the only thing that stopped him was this species was weaker against light magic.
If he got this species on some martial arts planet or science planet, then with no hesitation, he would choose them.
The problem was he was on a magic planet. It would be a little difficult, as he knew there would be many players who would choose magic as their first source of power.
He continued to look at ghosts and Shakhans back and forth.
It was a hard decision; on one side he had Shakhans' craziness, while he would get Ghosts' mysteriousness on the other side.
After lots of back and forth, he went with craziness and chose Shakhans as his species.
[Player Glitch wants to choose Shakhans as his species. (Yes / No)]
Once he decided, he did not hesitate more and pressed on yes.
Ding!
[Congratulations to player Glitch for selecting the Shakhans as your species.]
…
All the species disappeared from the screen. One fresh widow popped in front of him.
[It is time to select Source. Player Glitch, there are many kinds of power that your species could wield. You have full liberty to choose the source power for your species. Please state your source power whenever you are ready.
(note: the player can only choose stage 0 source.)]
He stared at the black screen, lost in thought. Out of 3 choices, the source power was the only choice that allowed customization from players.
A player could give any kind of power to their species and game Ai would integrate it into the game. Though choosing the source was one thing, using that source was another.
There was an energy scale that grouped all kinds of power.
At the start of the game, the player could only use basic stage 0 power.
As players gain levels and power, these basic stage 0 sources would evolve into higher stages. Unlike the other 2 choices player could gain other sources as the game progressed, but the key was the first source.
A player would have maximum development in their first source. That was why it was important to not mess it up.
The most logical choice here for him was the basic magic power. As planet Nex was a magic-based planet player with the magic source would gain extra development advantage compared to others.
He could gain multiple magic spells from the NPC civilization on the planet even without the path of study.
But then he shook his head and decided to use that trick. It was a trick that promoted the growth rate of the evolution path.
He said to the screen, "I want my source power to be mutation energy."
[…. The player needs to state the function and use of mutation energy.]
"This energy specializes in developing methods for temporary and permanent mutation methods. The species can use these powers to fight against others…." He started explaining the mutation power.
After 5 minutes, he stopped speaking and let the game analyze it.
[…]
A string of dots continued to appear on the screen.
He knew that this game had advanced game AI that could understand and create stuff on its own.
After a few minutes of waiting, a new notification popped in front of him.
Ding!
[The creation of mutation energy is in process.]
Ai's process started, and even after 10 minutes passed, Ai continued to process the information.
He just waited. As he read in his last life, Ai was not only trying to create a demo of this source but also trying to see possible ways to add this energy to the game.
After 5 more minutes, the AI asked.
[Player Glitch, do you want to select the mutation energy?]
He smiled in excitement and nodded his head. "Yes."
Ding!
[Player Glitch chooses the Mutation energy as the source.]
[Ding! A sub-source is detected.]
[Ding! A special choice is given to the player.]
He was expecting the sub-source notification, but his eyes widened at the special choice.
