Chapter 23 - Yuki's Despair

Huang Ran knew Yuki's thoughts and told her to search the village while he fought off the Umbraviaths, as the situation had changed and he needed to stop the invaders from spreading more chaos. He then vanished in a blur, and Yuki could feel the ground tremble, and the Umbraviaths screams coming from afar.

Yuki footsteps echoed out of the building and into the open air, her eyes searching in every direction for a clue or hint. But to her disappointment, she found no traces of her sister.

'It would be easier to find her in the air.' Yuki thought and snowy ice wings appeared on her back as she flapped them and flew into the air.

The village was still in chaos, but the number of Umbraviath had decreased a lot because of Huang Ran's continuous rampage. Yuki also helped kill a few while she searched for her sister.

Yuki fluttered in the air, sweeping down on any Umbraviath she encountered. She could see the situation in the entire village from up here. The village was almost destroyed by now, and most of the buildings were up in purple flames. But somehow, Yuki's house was the only one that didn't catch fire.

Looking at the person she just saved on the ground, she realized it was an old friend of her sister named Jin.

"Jin!" Yuki said and landed next to him, examining his condition.

He had a few deep cuts on his chest and legs, but he wasn't in any mortal danger.

"Yuki! What are you doing here?" He asked, shocked by her appearance.

"Don't worry about me. Do you know where my sister is?" She asked, patching his wounds with her snow.

"I don't know, but she is probably near the Trade Center." He replied, hissing at the pain.

Yuki's face was filled with worry, but she couldn't just leave him here alone. She dragged him over to her house and asked him to hide here until the situation was under control. Jin nodded and went inside while Yuki ran off in the direction of the Trade Center.

'Please be safe, Sister!' Yuki thought, her heart pounding in her ears as she ran towards the trade center.

In front of her stood a large crowd of Umbraviath and some giant monsters who looked like mutated apes. These apes were bigger than normal ones and were at least three times bigger than humans. Their eyes were glowing purple and their hands were as big as a human head. They're a sub-species of the Umbraviath, known as Umbraviath Titans. They were considered strong compared to other creatures from the Abyss, because of their natural strength.

"ROAAAAAAAAR!!" One of the Umbraviath titans bellowed and slammed his fist into the ground, creating a crack on the ground and sending a shock wave towards Yuki.

'Uhh, is this thing stupid? I'm in the air.' Yuki thought as the shockwave passed under her.

She didn't understand why that monster would attack her, since it couldn't reach her even if it wanted to.

'Must be stupid.' She thought, ignoring it and looking around the Trade Center for her sister.

To her horror, she indeed found her sister, but...

"Sister!" Yuki's shriek rang across the Trade Center, but one of the Titans blocked her path.

It roared at her and charged at her with incredible speed, its fists swinging wildly. Yuki dodged its attacks with ease, but the Titan kept attacking relentlessly. Yuki, who's mentality is unstable, unleashed all of her power.

"First Spirit Skill: Flurries of the Frozen Heavens!" She yelled out, and dozens of snowy tornados appeared from all around her and headed straight at the Titans. The impact of the tornadoes threw them backwards, causing them to crash into the ground, while leaving small frost wounds on their bodies.

She then began to use the coldness and the heat in their body's, turning them into ice sculptures. Her Kongli was decreasing rapidly, but she didn't care. All she could think of right now is killing these bastards. Especially when she saw her sister in one of their hands about to eat her!

"Sister!" Yuki roared, her voice filled with anger and rage.

"Roar!" The last Titian jumped towards her with a vicious roar.

Yuki flapped her wings and increased her speed. She punched the titan in the face with an uppercut, making it fly into the sky. It was stunned by her strength, but Yuki didn't let it recover. She flapped her wings and flew at full speed towards the Titan, while gathering Cold Ice in her palms. The wind was howling around her, and the temperature around her started dropping rapidly, as the Cold Ice turned into a huge icicle in her hand.

"Freeze!" Yuki shouted, and threw the icicle at the Titian.

It pierced through the Titian's chest, and it exploded into pieces. Yuki landed on the ground with a thud, and ran towards her sister. She was still lying on the ground with her eyes closed.

"Sister!" Yuki yelled again and knelt next to her.

Her lower half was completely devoured by the Umbraviath's, and she was bleeding profusely.

"You bastard!" Yuki shouted and stomped on the ground, freezing it completely.

The Umbraviath's on the ground were frozen within seconds, and soon became nothing but a puddle of blue goo. Yuki quickly checked her sister's pulse, and fortunately, it was still beating. But it was extremely weak. Yuki didn't know what to do, and her body started shivering uncontrollably. Tears ran down her face, as she hugged her sister tightly and sobbed loudly.

She quickly froze all of her wounds and tried to persevere to find some healing medicine, but to no avail. No one could hear her cries, except for Huang Ran, who had just finished his rampage on the Umbraviath horde and came to check up on Yuki. He was surprised to see her sister in this state, but he calmed down after seeing that she was still alive.

"Don't worry, Yuki. Your sister is still alive." Huang Ran said gently, as he put his hand on her shoulder and gently patted her back.

"She's dying..." Yuki said through her sobs.

This time, Huang Ran simply sat on the ground taking deep breaths.

"I'm sorry." He said in a low voice.

Yuki looked at him, her tear-stained eyes filled with hope and desperation. The only thing she could think of is to freeze her sister's wounds and keep her alive until they find a solution.
