Chereads / Hunter Quinn: Black Magic System / Chapter 16 - Kingdom Dungeon II

Chapter 16 - Kingdom Dungeon II

After entering the mysterious door, Hunter climbed up the stairs and picked up a torch on the way. He realised there was no point in not having a light source if he's just going to either exhaust himself with [Prey Gaze] or if he's going to get snuck from behind by an undead or skeleton.

A door appeared and Hunter emerged from the staircase. After leaving, the door closed behind him, turning into a wall, hidden in plain sight.

[You are now in the second level of the kingdom dungeon. You'll find an abundance of skeleton knights, archers and undead here]

"Good. That means I'll clear the objectives quickly and get my reward," said Hunter.

As he did with the first floor, Hunter effectively killed the skeleton knights and archers without much trouble. After coming across a horde of undead, he used his [Hellhound Chains] to whip their heads off their bodies, instantly killing them.

The kill count of the lower monsters quickly rose and Hunter finally cleared his first objective.

{Kill 200 undead [0165/200]

Kill 200 skeleton knights [200/200]

Kill 150 armoured knights [000/150]

Kill 50 mages [00/50]

Kill 20 royal guards [00/20]

Kill the King [0/1]

Kill the Dungeon Master [0/1]}

A door opened on the wall and Hunter walked inside it. He picked up another torch, after throwing his first torch away in order to focus on fighting, and went up the stairs.

"Hey, System Rosana, how much time has passed in the real world?" Hunter queried.

[About 8 hours, Hunter Quinn. Do you wish to take a break?]

"I can do that?" Hunter raised an eyebrow and looked at the system floating next to him curiously.

[There are designated safe areas located within the castle. We can locate one and allow you to rest for atleast 4 hours withing the time zone of the dungeon]

"That's basically equivalent to like an hour. But, I'll take what I can get," replied Hunter.

Hunter left the staircase and the door closed behind him, blending into a wall once again.

[You are now in the third level of the kingdom dungeon. You'll find an abundance of undead, armoured knights and a handful of mages in this level]

[Locating Safe Zone...]

[Safe Zone Located!]

[Follow me, Hunter Quinn]

Without any hesitation, Hunter followed System Rosana as it led him to a room with boarded up windows, broken glass and torn curtains. Hunter closed the door behind him and hung the torch on the wall.

"This isn't half bad," said Hunter.

Squeak!

Hunter heard a noise and shook his head anxiously. He knew what that was and he hated every second of it. Although System Rosana was merely a taking floating orb, Hunter knew the expression it probably would've had if it had a face.

[... You can't seriously still be afraid of rats or mice at your age, Hunter Quinn...]

"They're vicious little things that carry diseases! I have every right to be afraid of them!" exclaimed Hunter.

[You're just being a p*ssy. Grow up already]

"I'll freaking kill you, System Rosana!" Hunter shouted as he expressed his embarassment. "Screw this, I'm taking a nap."

Hunter found a nice corner and opened his [Infinite Inventory], where he pulled out a blanket and wrapped himself around it.

[You have 3 hours, 57 minutes and 45 seconds remaining before designated safe area becomes an active dungeon area]

"Wake me up when there's ten minutes remaining..."

And, with that, Hunter quickly fell asleep...

[3 hours and 30 minutes later...]

Hunter stretched and his arms and sighed in relief.

"That was a good nap! Apart for the fact that I could hear that damn rodent and that my neck hurts, I got some pretty decent sleep," Hunter said with a bright smile on his face.

Then, his smile quickly faded and turned into a frown. He dropped his head and arms weakly and swayed his body from side to side.

"Who am I kidding? In that 3 hours, I only got to sleep for 30 minutes..." complained Hunter.

[You'll be awake once you fight some monsters. Come on, day light is burning]

After prepping himself, Hunter returned to exploring the third floor of the kingdom dungeon. He came across 5 armoured knights, which were clad in silver iron armour.

Each of the knight's carried different weapons, such as spears, swords, maces and hatchets.

"These guys look tough," said Hunter as he pulled out his spiked [Hellhound Chains] and spun them.

[With the current strength of your Hellhound Chains, it will take atleast 10 swings to effectively kill them]

"There's never been a proper way to get rid of these things. Even strong hunters complain about them a lot!"

With that being said, Hunter charged in and swung his chains. The 5 knights charged for Hunter as well, their weapons at the ready.

Firstly, Hunter used his [Black Flames] and pushed back 2 knights. He sucked his teeth in anger. He was hoping he could atleast get 4 off his back so he could combo one. But unfortunately, he wasn't given that opportunity.

Using [Fast Break], he managed to focus on one knight and landed 10 consecutive hits on it within the first 2 seconds, shattering it's armour and killing it. In the last second, he jumped back and took a breather.

'The fact that [Fast Break] takes ten seconds to recharge is way too long. If I don't find an alternative for this, I'll surely be kissing death for good this time,' he said as he made a mental note.

The armoured knights charged in for Hunter once again. This time, he used his chains to smack the knight's back, causing 3 of them to fall on their backs. The last one was close.

Hunter evaded his mace, spun to the right and delivered a mean kick to its head, causing the helmet to fly off.

'You guys aren't some ghosts or undead! You're monsters who don't have the right to call yourselves human anymore!'

Hunter used his chains like nunchucks and smacked the armoured knights consecutively until its armour broke and collapsed, killing it.

Emanating a black aura, Hunter turned to the remaining 3 armoured knights and said, "I'll be damned if I turn into this shit when I kick the bucket."

The remaining armoured knights dashed towards Hunter, the one closest to him carrying a spear and pointing it towards him. Hunter threw his chain towards the knight and wrapped the chain around his weapon.

The knight lost itself for a second, allowing Hunter to pull his chain and therefore, his weapon, away from him. Hunter threw the weapon behind him and spun his chain like Nunchucks once again, quickly taking care of the closest armoured knight.

With the remaining 2, he simply smacked their weapons away and took care of them carefully, one by one. Although it may not seem like it, armoured knights are very clever.

If one knight sees their weapon being take away by a hunter, it'll learn and teach its kind, meaning the next hunter won't be able to perform the same maneuver, especially when they might need it most.

After taking care of the last knight, Hunter took a deep breath and wiped the sweat on his nose.

{Kill 200 undead [0165/200]

Kill 200 skeleton knights [200/200]

Kill 150 armoured knights [005/150]

Kill 50 mages [00/50]

Kill 20 royal guards [00/20]

Kill the King [0/1]

Kill the Dungeon Master [0/1]}

"Damnit. If only 5 of them are giving me this much trouble, there's no way I'll be able to kill 150 of them without running out of juice," said Hunter.

[Remember, you still have those healing potions. You may use them if ever you run out of mana, strength or energy]

"I'll take note of that, thanks."

Hunter opened his [infinite Inventory] and looked at the window before him. He only had 5 potions remaining.

Thanks to the objectives System Rosana set up for him, Hunter was able to deduce how many more floors he'd have to clear before going back home. But, that was atleast 8 to 9 floors, depending on the monster ratio.

"These potions won't last me long enough. Could you heal me instead?"

[I can only heal you of you've completed 3 of your objectives or if you've defeated a high ranking monster within the current hierarchy. Meaning...]

"I'm gonna have to kill the King before you heal me so that I can kill the Dungeon Master..." Hunter said in a low tone. "I'm clearly being careless with the way I use my body and magical abilities. I need to utilise my strength more often."

[I'd suggest using the Hellhound Chains until you complete all 3 of your objectives. Use atleast one potions for one level. That way, you'll atleast be able to have sustained energy for 6 extra floors]

"..." Hunter rubbed his chin and began thinking. "There's no point in saving these potions if I die. But, I'm not going to fight stronger hunters by relying on healing and magic."

With that, Hunter closed his [Infinite Inventory] and walked down the hallway.
