Chapter 9 - Fighting Beasts (II)
Immediately the group that Hilgamech was with produced swords, blades, and so on, he quickly produced a sword of his own. This was one of the few things he had prepared for his training with the Brown Lotus Cave.
As soon as he produced the sword, with determination filling his heart and overflowing, an aura filled with the intent to dominate all things—all creations and existences, began to radiate like a tide from his whole body. It was overpowering that the people in the group couldn't help but turn their faces to gaze at him with suppressed expressions of shock written on them.
Also, the instant Hilgamech produced the ordinary sword he took from the mansion—from a place where useless, antiquated pieces were kept, he instantly drew the attention of the people in the group who couldn't help but look at the sword with intense surprise on their faces. The sword seemed multiple times better than the swords and blades they wielded, despite it ordinary-looking appearance.
Not very long, hundreds of beasts could be seen rushing towards them. They raised up clouds of dust as they raged towards them.
Quickly, energy-charged attacks were launched at the beasts from their positions, killing them one after the other.
Dazzling rays of colored energies—due to the different energies they each cultivated, shot out at extreme speeds towards the beasts, causing deep gashes to appear on their bodies, instantly causing their deaths.
Hilgamech, who hadn't moved to send off any attack of his own, prepared to do so.
Instantly, the sword he wielded began to glow in intense cyan light. The light was intensely bright that it outshone the other colors of light emanating from the swords and blades that others wielded.
As he continued to channel more energy—AeroFlux energy into the vein of the sword, the cyan-colored light emanating from it grew in intensity. And as Hilgamech continued to do so, wind began to mysteriously and incomprehensibly gather around the sword, causing his long, raven-black hair and outfit to strongly flutter. At that moment, he seemed like someone otherworldly.
Feeling he had pumped the sword enough with his AeroFlux energy, he immediately slashed out with it—horizontally.
SLASH!
Instantly, a six-feet-wide, cyan-colored ray of energy erupted from the sword, traveling at a great speed towards some of the incoming, raging wild beasts.
SLISSHH!
SLISSHH!
SLISSHH!
...
The ray of light—formed from AeroFlux energy that Hilgamech sent out, cleanly slashed through many of the beasts, killing many of them at once—about thirty of them in an instant.
The attack was simply like a large sword disguised as a wide ray of light. It penetrating and cutting power was amazingly high that it bordered on the realm of impossible. It had smoothly cut through the numerous beasts—into whole halves like they were made from something softer and thinner than butter.
Everyone looked at Hilgamech with surprise in their eyes. The strength of the attack he unleashed was on par with that of a peak-phase Entry stage cultivator.
Hilgamech, who knew how strong his attacks could be, was slightly astonished. He didn't think he could unleash an attack that would cut through the tough skin and durable hides of the beasts—about thirty of them before running out of power and slowly dispersing, albeit still causing body-halving deaths in its path, violently forcing streams of bright red blood to shoot into the air like sprays.
It was simply like when crimson fluids gushed out of a pressured pump into the air. It was a harrowing scene to witness.
Assuming Hilgamech took down ten, he would nod at himself in approval for it. But since he had exterminated a bit over thirty, he couldn't help but attribute it to the old, discarded sword he wielded. Only if he knew.
Someone in the group who witnessed the damage power possessed by Hilgamech's attack, snorted in envy within himself. Then he prepared to launch his own attack at the beasts to show how it was done, and that the feat Hilgamech just executed wasn't really spectacular.
However, he could only take down six beasts at once. And he was in the peak-phase Entry stage. This caused him shame and embarrassment that he felt like running out of the cavern, take transport back to the academy and hide in the small toilet in his room. He was simply riddled with shame that he felt he stank.
Varthan, another peak-phase Entry stage cultivator, had his fist begin to glow in deep yellow light. But he wasn't trying to compete with anyone or show that he was better. He was here—as a leader of the group to help his group members succeed with the assignment given to them. Beside, they had a bit of situation at the moment. So, all of his attention was on it, thinking of ways to scale through the present difficulty posed upon their group.
Though he realized the shocking damaging power in Hilgamech's attack, he was however astounded for a bit before placing his focus back on the horde of beasts that growled and snarled at them, intending to ferociously devour them till nothing that composed their body parts remained.
Varthan, whose fists—which glowed in deep yellow light and looked like rock and metal, or a combination of both at the same time, since they appeared stony—like large, hard stones were carved into fists, and shone with a bright and dazzling metallic lustre, prepared to strike with full power.
So, using the special technique called Ravaging Ironstone Fist—which turned his fists to that, Varthan immediately punched out towards a beasts that abruptly leapt over.
BANG!
The beast instantly exploded into bits, splattering blood and crushed, pasty organs everywhere. However, that wasn't all. A ten-feet-wide fist of bright yellow light suddenly surfaced—simply because of the punching action of the fist that currently operated the special, Ravaging Ironstone Fist technique. So, upon its abrupt manifestation, it instantly shot out at a marveling speed towards the other beasts in the distance.
BANG!
BANG!
BANG!
...
Series of loud bang sounds began to ring out as the beasts that were viciously struck by the illusory fist formed from TerraFlux energy, continuously exploded into mists of bright red blood that dyed the earth below.
After shattering the bodies of more than fifteen beasts in its trajectory path, the illusionary, yellow-colored fist lost power and its solid structural form before rapidly dispersing into the atmosphere.
Then suddenly, one of the girls in his group, who hadn't said a single word ever since—making her seem rather proud and aloof, unexpectedly moved to take action. And this was after a pretty long while of doing nothing, watching others as they struggled to take down the large numbers of approaching beasts.
Swiftly producing a pure-white blade that was actually a Treasure-weapon, she instantly bolted off like a rampaging storm towards some of the incoming, highly enraged hungry beasts.
