[Chapter Size: 2200 Words.]

Third Person POV

Hogwarts.

...

...

"Now let's begin the class," Professor Filius Flitwick started the lesson.

"Now we will continue with the spells we have been practicing since last week..." He began as the class turned their attention to him. "Now let's continue with the spells we have been practicing since last week," announced Professor Flitwick, adjusting his glasses with a twinkle of excitement in his eyes as he looked at his students. "Today, we will delve deeper into the study of Levitation Charms. More specifically, we will enhance our use of the 'Wingardium Leviosa' spell."

"Mr. Snape, I know you are thinking that we are going to review a first-year spell, but this is an advanced variation of Wingardium Leviosa, let me do a demonstration." He said, picking up his wand to show Snape for not having come last week.

He transformed a candle on his desk into a vase, with a transfiguration spell and used "Wingardium Leviosa" without moving the wand like an experienced wizard and made the vase levitate and brought it to the front of the class, "As you already know, 'Wingardium Leviosa' is fundamental for levitating objects. However, what we are looking for now is control and precision in more complex situations," continued Flitwick. "For example, this spell can be combined with others, what we are learning is 'Descendo', which we can cast an object straight to the ground with it. Pay attention to my movements and words." He said.

Professor Flitwick began to move his wand with a smooth and slow movement to show everyone again the correct movements. "Descendo!" He said and the vase flew to the ground with force while breaking with the impact spreading its body all over the place.

"Any questions about the spell?" He asked ignoring the broken vase, looking at all the students, no one raised their hand, including Snape as Flitwick noticed, "That's good, then continue practicing until you master the spell." He spoke using a spell to clean the floor.

Snape saw the class progressing smoothly while the students practiced with objects in the air the simple spell, Snape looked at his feather and was thinking about the other variations of the levitation spell, imagining how it could be useful on the battlefield, he had used it to throw the bladder at the Marauders, but there was no power, he simply dropped the spell while gravity did the rest of the work.

"Do you have any questions, Mr. Snape?" Professor Flitwick had approached Snape while he was thinking, it had already been 10 minutes while he was just imagining how the spell would be useful, while all the students were training, Snape did not care about the approach of the professor trusting his instincts that there was no danger coming from him.

"No, Professor Flitwick, I was just thinking." Snape spoke and seeing that the professor wanted a demonstration from him with the spell, he raised his wand without movement while the feather began to levitate with 'Wingardium Leviosa' and then Snape moved his wand perfectly with "Descendo!", making the feather hit his desk making a sound of impact, even not being very large due to the weight of the feather.

"That's splendid! Your first attempt?" The professor was quite pleased with the perfection that Snape practiced the spell.

"Yes." Snape did not lie.

"That's really amazing! It seems that your talent has not only improved in transfiguration as Professor McGonagall had spoken, I'm very happy to see this change in my classes." He spoke with satisfaction, "10 points to Slytherin for the splendid demonstration, Mr. Snape. You can read the pages of the book in chapter 1, which detail the spell better if you want to delve into it. Meanwhile, I will help your classmates to reach your performance." He spoke while moving away with a smile.

Snape nodded, ignoring all the looks the students were giving him as always. And ended up doing as the professor suggested, even advancing in other chapters trying to find new spells that could be useful for the rest of the year.

The class continued like this until the end. Snape continued flipping through the books seeing more details of the use of spell and took some advantage, and seeing some more advanced ones that they would learn this year.

When the class ended, Filius Flitwick announced, "We are done here today, I hope to see you in a few days. Keep up the good work Mr. Snape, I hope to see your remarkable growth in my class this year." He did not stop praising, due to Snape not being a bad student, but it did not compare to what he demonstrated, even surpassing Lily Evans, who was his favorite when it came to the art of spells.

Exiting the room, he went to his first potions class of the year with Professor Horace Slughorn, who seemed to care about him more than anyone else at the school. As he walked through the corridors alone, people murmured, making him think that an event that happened earlier with the Marauders had already spread. The students commented on how the Marauders went to the infirmary with a problem of constant itching on their bodies.

'Probably someone will come to talk to me, but it doesn't matter.' Snape shrugged, listening to the conversations while some moved out of his way.

"Hey, why does Peeves look so scared?" A student commented in front of him, seeing the mischievous ghost dejected in a corner, which was unprecedented for everyone there.

"I've never seen him like this... did something happen to him?" Spoke a fourth-year student.

"What do you mean something happened to him? He's a ghost!" Exclaimed her colleague.

"Even so..." Another murmured.

Meanwhile, Peeves was having a quite difficult time, it was traumatizing to come close to death after being dead. He had been thinking about this all day while he stopped his usual pranks on all the students. He looked at the students talking about him, but didn't seem to react. However, when he saw the student coming behind him, he got scared, after all, it was Snape going to his potions classes.

"You!!! Stay away from me! Help!!!!" He began to scream, calling the attention of all the students while pointing at Snape before starting to flee from there, running into a wall and disappearing.

Snape looked at that, shrugging, as he continued to the right, going up a staircase in the main tower, and finally arrived at the entrance of an open door with a quite strange smell coming from it, entering the place being the last since he had walked so slowly he didn't care about the time. He encountered a room full of cauldrons burning with that strong smell.

He looked at the occupied tables, since this room had a limit of students to enter and saw only one place next to a Ravenclaw boy, which was the house he would be taking this class with.

Without caring about that, he approached; the student looked with a slight tremor, seeing him approaching and seeming to be very afraid of Snape, while the latter stood there in silence taking care of his things and his cauldron before starting the class, with the professor still absent.

Some people gossiped among themselves and much of the subjects were about Snape without surprise. It was after a while that, finally, the professor entered the room.

"Hello everyone!" Professor Slughorn greeted with a smile, starting the class.

His gaze returned to the last table with Snape there, "I'm glad to see you here. I heard you had some trouble yesterday, but I believe it has been resolved, correct?" He asked, since he heard the school's librarian complaining about Snape breaking into the forbidden section.

Snape heard this and replied in a short manner: "Yes, professor. Nothing that you need to worry about, professor." He spoke thus since this man took care of Slytherin.

With Slughorn nodding, the class began with the professor walking up to his desk and giving an introduction to a potion they wanted to start last week. He explained, trying to recap the students' failures. Until his attention went to Snape, who, as he hadn't come for a week, he had to reintroduce the potion to him.

But not very worried, after all, the boy was a genius. Even with his changes and new talents emerging, he believed the boy would not lose his ability in potions, which he always praised as the most talented student in this area.

He approached while making an introduction to Snape about a simple potion while detailing the ingredients on top of the table and talking about how to prepare it patiently.

"I got it, I can do it on my own," Snape spoke confidently, while the professor looked at him for a moment and nodded, believing in his words.

While they continued helping the other students, Snape prepared his potion quickly placing the ingredients perfectly in his cauldron.

"Excuse me," Snape was preparing the potion when he looked to the side, seeing the student who had been afraid of him until then, looking at him while timidly calling out to him.

"Yes?" Snape said, in a harsh tone, making the student shrink a bit.

"I... I," the boy began, hesitantly. "My name is Gilderoy Lockhart." Said the boy, he was blond of medium stature, but did not seem confident at all.

Snape just looked at him, remembering that this student had been with him since the first year, but had never managed to stand out in anything, even his house avoided him and he didn't seem to have many friends. Snape continued to look at him without saying anything, while the boy still remained a bit cautious.

The boy decided to break this silence, seeing that Snape didn't even introduce himself. "I remember you. You're not... not anything like you are now. You were like me," he said, even more hesitant as he finally decided to speak. "I want to be like you," the boy ended up revealing, while Snape raised an eyebrow at that.

"I don't know," Snape answered honestly. "It all depends on you," he said and continued making his potion.

"I want to be someone brave, someone to admire," Snape was interrupted once more.

"And you're saying this because... I'm like that? You're mistaken. After all, people are afraid of me, and I like it that way," Snape commented, without any shame, and went back to making the potion, while the boy seemed still wanting to talk more, but with Snape ignoring him now, he ended up holding his tongue.

Snape continues making the potion perfectly, while the professor and the students can't help but look at Snape often, seeing him focused, preparing the potion in the hot cauldron.

The professor approached the boy and looked attentively at the cauldron, as he finished the last ingredients and set it to an ideal temperature, 10 minutes later, he finally finished, filling a flask with a healing potion, looking at the professor, who was staring at him with a gleam in his eye.

He took the flask and sniffed it before returning to Snape with a smile, "Excellent, Snape, excellent as expected. No, you've even surpassed my expectations, this is more than perfect! You needed to hear it only once to perform the potion perfectly. I've never seen anything like it in the fifth year," He commented with satisfaction, as Snape was proving to be an even bigger prodigy than he was already known.

"For that, I will award you 10 points for Slytherin," he declared with a smile, placing the potion back on the table.

Snape just nodded. "Thank you, Professor Slughorn." he said.

As everyone watched, the class continued until it finally came to the end of the day. When everyone began to leave the class, but Professor Slughorn calls a specific student.

"Mr. Snape, I would like us to have a private conversation, if possible," he said, waiting for Snape to approach, which he ended up doing.

"Yes, Professor Slughorn." The boy said.

"I would like to propose that you come to our monthly meeting. You are becoming a great prodigy at this school and quite famous lately, I must say," he commented with a smile. "So your presence will be quite requested at this first meeting of the year."

Snape knew about the monthly meeting that Professor Slughorn liked to host to increase contact with the most notable wizards. While Snape always refused, after all, he had always been invited but never wanted to go, preferring to do his experiments or study than to go to this meeting, even with Lily inviting him at the time when they still spoke, after all, he always had quite poor social skills and was shy.

I ask, should Snape go to the meeting or not?
