💞Love from a Distance: A Tale of Unexpected Connection💞

Chapter 13

Jackson's POV

I knew that Ryan would surely be picked since he's very good at basketball, I just hoped I would be among them.

Ryan's POV

As I expected, our schedules were tight and we had practice almost every day, like 6 times a week. The pressure was intense, but I kept advising and helping my teammates to improve.

"You can do this, Jones. Just two more to go," I said as we all jogged around the court during warm-up.

"Jack, no double dribbling. Keep your hand on top of the ball and protect it with your opposite hand," I instructed, and he nodded.

"James, pass me the ball," I said.

"Is it a chest pass, bounce pass, or overhead pass? Which one?" he asked.

"Any one you choose," I replied, and he did a bounce pass.

After practice, I shook all their hands and said, "Good job, teammates. Next time, I'll treat you all to a meal," to which they all shouted in excitement. I then headed to the squad team quarters, feeling like someone was following me. I turned to see Jackson. What does this guy want?

"Ryan, Tom wants to treat us to a meal. Will you come?" he asked, and I nodded yes.

"Okay. I'll text him," he said and took out his phone. I left and went inside the quarters. After showering and changing, I left the quarters and later that evening, I received the address of the restaurant via email. I went to Jumac fast food restaurant, saw them, and went to meet them.

"Thanks for coming," Tom said. I just sighed and sat down on the chair.

"Let's order now," Raymond said as he checked the menu.

"Would you like a hamburger and French fries, Ryan?" Tom asked.

"I'll have fruit salad and apple juice," I said bluntly.

"Oh, okay," he replied. The waiter came and we all placed our orders. I noticed the three of them exchanging looks and looking through the glass window, where I saw Liela passing by. As soon as I heard the door open, I asked Tom rudely, "Why did you call me for dinner?"

"I wanted us to celebrate since we all had joined our desired sport," Tom said sadly.

"Why do you have to be mean?" Jackson said angrily.

"Ask yourself, Jack," I said coldly. I stood up to leave when I saw her standing in front of me.

Liela's POV

As I entered Jumac fast food restaurant to get hamburgers and French fries, I saw him talking rudely to his friends. I thought to myself that he must think he's better than everyone else. He seemed like a spoilt brat who deserved to rot in hell. "Such a fool," I muttered as I stormed over and saw him standing up.

"Do you think the world revolves around your commands?" I asked angrily, feeling the urge to slap him at that moment.

"Yes, it does, fool. If I were you, I would quietly leave before you regret what happens next," he said coldly.

"Before you do your worst, I will do mine," I said as I raised my hand to slap him. He caught my hand, and as I tried to pull away, I lost my balance, fell, and we both ended up on the floor. Our eyes widened as our lips accidentally touched.

Jackson's POV

I watched as they were still on the floor, wondering if this was how love begins and if this cold loner might change into a softer guy.

Liela's POV

As our lips touched, I felt electrified, like my breath had been taken away. I felt butterflies in my stomach and wondered if I was on cloud nine. I stood up after realizing we were still on the floor and ran out of the restaurant. The breeze calmed me down, replacing the nice feelings I had with anger and hatred towards him.
