Chapter 14 - "The breaking point"

💞Chapter 14💞

Liela's POV

I felt bad for the way he treated his friend. "I hate you, unfortunate weakling. You're heartless, cold, and you feel the world revolves around you when it doesn't. I wish my first kiss was never with you. Why was I so clumsy? Why? Your kind deserve hell and hell alone. I hate you," I said, shouting every word and started crying. I went to sit down on a bench and from that moment, I decided to ignore his kind. I don't want his bad omen around me.

Ryan's POV

As I laid down on the floor, I couldn't help but think, she hates me badly now. I know she must be disbursed at the brief moment we had together. I should be happy she hates me more than ever, but I felt hurt. No, don't overthink it. It's best this way rather than getting to know each other, falling in love, and in the end getting hurt by me or maybe worse. I stood up and said, "excuse me," before leaving the place.

Raymond's POV

As he left, I noticed something wasn't right. I shouldn't dwell on it.

Jackson's POV

"At least he got what he deserves. That's called karma."

Tom's POV

"I was speechless. I hope he will be alright."

"Let's enjoy ourselves. We can't let this ruin our day," Jackson said as the waiter, who was standing watching everything from afar, came and brought our dishes.

"I really want to know who Ryan is," Jackson added.

"For him to talk like this means he's from a wealthy family," I said.

"He is, that's all I can say," Raymond said.

Ryan's POV

For these few days, I concentrated more on basketball practice to keep my mind occupied from thinking about her.

"Nice shot, but try jumping with your left foot when trying layups," I said to Jones and he nodded.

Today, everyone did well, and I saw everyone was really improving. Our coach just watched, and when he needed to say something, he would. His assistant helped us with water, towels, and the balls. Everything went well, and on days when I saw Liela, I could only watch her from afar and make sure she didn't see me. Her beautiful smile came back, and her lovely personality came alive once again. I was happy for her.

She became my solace when I felt tired, angry, or whatever. I could watch her all day. When she needed help, I made sure to help her.

Liela's POV

I was trying to reach a textbook in the library but couldn't reach it. So, I left to carry a stool. When I came back, I saw the book on a lower shelf. I looked around, checking if there was anyone, but no one was there. I became confused, so I took the textbook and went to where Tania and I were staying in the library. I sat down.

"You're back?" Tania asked, surprised as she stared at me.

"Yes."

"But it doesn't look like your usual self. The you I know would have checked 10 textbooks before picking one and coming back with it," she explained, meaning I always come late.

"That girl has changed. I don't want to waste my precious time anymore on that. By the way, I want to join the library unit," I said in a enthusiastic way.

"Why?"

"I like reading and I feel it's right for me. It will keep me busy," I replied.

"Okay, I will join too so in case you get bored working, I can cheer you up," she said, and I nodded.

Ryan's POV

After I saw her struggling to reach a textbook, I went to carry it and put it on the lower shelf before leaving to my secret point. When she came back to sit, I stared at her for some minutes before going back to studying.

Liela's POV

Days went by smoothly, and I got a letter saying Tania and I got accepted into the unit. I screamed and went to inform Tania. We celebrated after that. We were in a restaurant, bought champagne, and took a sip from it.

"We were having our first meeting this coming Monday, and I really can't wait," I said, excited.

"Maybe that's where my future man is," Tania said as she smiled sheepishly.

"Keep dreaming, Tan," I said as I took another sip.

"I will, and it will come true for me," she said.

"Okay, good luck then," I said, smiling.

Ryan's POV

As I walked in with the other basketball players, I saw her seated with her friend as they talked.
