💞Love from a Distance: A Tale of Unexpected Connection💞
💞Chapter 19💞
💞Jackson's POV💞
He's really a mysterious guy. I shouldn't dwell on it, with time he'll open up.
Ryan's POV
I closed my eyes to rest for a while and was woken up by Jack saying we had reached school. I looked out the window to see that it was already noon. I grabbed my bag and got off the bus with the others.
As we walked, the lights suddenly shut off, plunging us into darkness. Everyone started murmuring, and I realized we would have to use the flashlight on our phones. I took my phone out of my pocket to turn it on when the lights came back on and I heard "SURPRISE!" I looked up to see a lot of students holding banners that said "Welcome back," "You made us proud," "Congratulations," and more. Girls were screaming my name and saying "Soo Ho, I love you," while others shouted "Go Bulldog's."
I stood there, showing no reaction while the others were shocked, smiled, and waved at the crowd. I hoped this would end soon so I could go back to the hostel. As I searched through the crowd, I saw a face glaring at me.
Leila's POV
Ever since Tania came back from the basketball game, she hadn't stopped talking about Soo Ho's winning goals and his attractive face. She said Bulldog's won, and she was happy since the team didn't let us down. She was completely obsessed today, even going on social media to check for his account but found nothing. She saw news on the internet about the match and read it aloud to me.
"Gosh, Tan, would you give me a break?" I said, getting tired of hearing about that guy.
"I will if you join me for the surprise we're planning for the team," she said. I replied no.
"Then I'll continue ranting about him. Soo Ho is freaking hot and I'm sure he..."
"Fine, I'll follow you," I said.
"Thanks, babe," she said, and I rolled my eyes.
We were waiting outside for them to arrive, and after some minutes, they finally came. As a student came to report that they had come down from the bus, the lights in the whole school went off. We heard them talking as they walked, and before they knew it, the lights came on, and we shouted "Surprise!" All of them were shocked except for that heartless weakling, who showed no reaction as the ladies screamed his name. I saw him looking into the crowd until his eyes met mine, and he just stared, so disgusting.
Well, now you know how he became famous. He was all over the news, and I guess his ugly face outshines everyone on the team. The other players are handsome, too, and they deserve that spotlight. I can't breathe anymore becauseTania is already blinded by him. She has the biggest crush on him, but I make sure to remind her he's not what she thinks he is. I'm sure if she knew he was the guy in the manager's office, she would hate him.
I'm sure his popularity will go down if he isn't book smart, and he would be given the nickname "The Dull Basketball Player Soo Ho." That would be nice...
"Why would you pray for his downfall?" My inner thoughts said.
"I'm not just stating facts," I said, justifying myself.
By the way, we just took our last exam, and I can't wait to see his result because that will determine if he is smart or not.
I was at the library, waiting for the students to leave before l start my duty. I always wander why the president hasn't shown up for any meeting or events in the library; he just gives us tasks to do. I really don't know what kind of president he is. I've complained many times, but I guess they don't listen to me or comes up with different excuses.
I decided to apply for vice president since the president is a ghost and refuses to come to meetings. I could cover for him and get things done quickly, like approving the purchase of Dewlis books, which is still pending because our so-called president hasn't approved it yet.
I wrote a letter to the head stating the services I could render if l was chosen as the vice president and went to submit it to Mandi, the secretary.
