Short Story: Meanwhile
Meanwhile
-Welcome to the Jungle-
We begin our trek in the skies, casually observing a family of four as they fly to Florida for a few days of fun and relaxation.
Uncle Bob and Mama Witt were on a plane with their children Dweezel and Moonunit they overheard a Karen complain about masks....
Meanwhile...
Mirror sheen, upon the grease, whose the prettiest in these here streets?
Dr. Nick, of course, (He gets Jealous if anyone is prettier than him)
A new challenger appeared in the ring to fight the sides of Cheesy Mac and Potatoes Mashed.
When the first bell rang, Mighty went to a neutral corner, to refresh and regroup. When it rang, a second time, Mighty swung with all her might and KO'd the sides.
Regrettably, the challenger decided to tap out. She hit the showers, never to be seen again.
The boys roared and the girls roared louder.
Cooler heads and Wisdom were the Heroes of the night.
-Testify-
We find our family of four, today, at a local watering hole.
Uncle Bob was trying to decide if Cotton Candy or Funnel Cakes would be more effective in launching Dweezel and Moonunit into the stratosphere.
Meanwhile,
Mighty sat with Mister in a house of worship. She prayed for the souls of friends.
May they survive the night. She also prayed for Uncle Bob, Mama Witt, Dweezel, and Moonunit on their trip. May they be safe and all come home in one piece. Amen
-Celebrate-
Today we find our, most delightful family played the line game. Uncle Bob, Mama Witt, Dweezel, and Moonunit enjoyed standing in long lines waiting to enter the attractions available. The T-Rex in the jungle looked delightfully ferocious.
Meanwhile...
A Baby Girl Princess also celebrated a special event. The 3rd anniversary of the day she joined her family. There was plenty of toys, ponies, and games for all to enjoy. A swell time was had by all.
-Congo-
Today, the delightful family from the North, returns home. Uncle Bob, Mama Witt, Dweezel, and Moonunit retire to their cozy beds to dream of rides that go whirly and dirly and rafts that flow along a lazy river. Welcome home, weary travelers.
Meanwhile...
Mighty arrived early to find herself buried. Just before she could dig herself out, she was summoned to do battle with Red beans, Rice, and a Sandwich Monster with Chicken and Fish tentacles. After satisfactorily slaying the beasts, Mighty sailed back to port to dig herself out, once more.
Cheerio!
A Purch For A Princess
Witney was born in a big building, with lots of other animals around. In addition to her birth mother and two brothers and one sister, there was one horse, a cow, and a nest of sparrows. The large building was a barn. Witney's mother noticed that Witney had a very long tail. It was the world's longest tail. Witney's mother was concerned that Witney's tail was too long and nipped the end breaking the tip. Little did Witney's mother know that breaking the tail didn't change the length. Witney didn't like having her tail broken. She cried from the pain.
Witney ran away from her mother to hide and tend to her wounded tail. While Witney was taking care of her tail a very large stranger approached and threw a blanket over her. The stranger picked up Witney, blanket and all and put her in a small box. Witney was scared, she didn't know what her future would be like. She didn't know if she would ever see her mother and family, again. Then again, after her beloved tail got broken, she wasn't sure she wanted to go back to her mother. Witney burrowed under the blanket and tried to hide in her cage.
The cage was loaded into a van and taken to a shelter. The place smelled, dogs barked in another room and she was crammed in a small room with lots of other cats.
Witney cried and despaired. She had to find a way out of this place. She looked up with tear soaked eyes. A couple had entered the shelter and watched through the window. Witney thought that the couple seemed lonely and took a chance. She raised her long tail, to get the couple's attention. To Witney's surprise, the couple was immediately smitten.
They had never seen such a long tail, before.
The couple called a clerk over. "There she is, that's our baby girl princess. What's her name?"
"Witney," The clerk looked at her paperwork.
The couple and clerk walked away and talked things over and when they returned, Witney, willingly, jumped into the box and went home with her new family that she adopted. At home, she claimed the back of the couch as her purrch. It was a good purrch. She could watch TV, if she wanted. She could nap whenever she was tired. Best of all, Witney got soup on her purrch. The couple told Witney that she would be allowed to be the baby girl princess, forever and ever.
Behind The Disc
Several years ago, I wrote a story. Then I found out about a writing contest at my local library. I thought the story was pretty good and entered it. I didn't realize it, at the time of submission, but I had forgotten to edit the story. The story won second place in the contest. I believe, that if I had edited the story cleaned up the grammar and so forth, the story would have come in first. I was so proud of my accomplishment with the story and wanted to share a copy of the story with my mother. Only problem was, that at the time, my mother was blind and she could not see to read the story. My solution was to record myself reading the story aloud. Turning the story into an audiobook for my mother to enjoy. I admit, I got a little cute with it and added a dedication. "For Betty Lou, from a family that loves her." I'm sure mom appreciated it. To make sure that mom was able to hear her audiobook, I sent a small boombox along with the story disc. I timed the arrival of the package to get the mom by her birthday. Mom was able to hear the story I wrote and then recorded for her on her birthday. That was her last birthday on Earth. The original boombox and disc were lost forever. Mom will never be forgotten. I miss her.
