Allison's Poem
Allison's Poem
Beauty becomes her.
She is my angel.
She is like the cat's purr.
I love her.
Precious is she.
My only child.
She is a part of me.
My baby girl.
She is with her family.
My Allison.
She won't forget me.
I am with her always.
She is my love.
I called her Delia.
She is sent from above.
My little Allison.
Time Goes By
A glass of milk falls.
-5 minutes later
Pieces picked up, puddle being cleaned.
-10 minutes later
Dad comes home
-15 minutes later
Mom is crying. She goes to her room and shuts the door.
-20 minutes later
Someone is Yelling.
-45 minutes later, (hospital)
voices garbled, Sleepy, things fuzzy.
-3 days later
people gather.
-1 week later
People forget.
Don't Judge Me
Don't judge me!!
You don't even know me.
How is it possible?
You treat me like The Crucible.
I won't put up with your abuse.
I can put myself to a better use.
I could be kind or a ho'
You really don't know.
You know that I am right.
Let's not fight.
Let me be free.
Don't judge me.

As my cheecks become wetter
I go to the stack
To select a disc that will make me feel better
I had been crying all day
nonsense, mostly
I don't like feeling this way
I need to blow off steam
riding over hill and over dale
living the dream
letting sound guide my move
I list
I groove
I jam with the flow
taking a break
from a life on the go
I don't know
I don't know.
I don't care.
The seem similar
don't they
Both are three word phrases
Both start with I don't
The onle difference
is the last word
What would happen?
If we tried something new
Instead of don't
what if we do
I do know
I do care
see the change?
But...
I walk and I talk
I walk and I talk
I see a drawing in chalk
It's a little bunny
The big ears are funny
The day is sunny and bright
I gave a stray cat a fright
It didn't expect the sight
It gave me a bit
I nurse my finger
The pain lingers
Sharp teeth like stingers
My blood pours down the ringer
I was Working as a Dishwasher at a Popeyes
It all happened
I was 40
Washing dishes
In a Popeyes
The dream it seemed
Was putting words
On a doc page
Wanting to write
The manager
Was talking out
Back, not seeing
His dishwasher
Slip away
The Schmuck That Showed Up
I had never seen,
A full year of church,
Services before.
I'm just the schmuck that showed up.
I had never sung,
In a church choir,
For longer than a week.
I'm just the schmuck that showed up.
I am having fun,
Going to my church.
I enjoy singing in the choir.
Not bad, for the schmuck that showed up.
As far as I know,
The way things are being done.
Is the way things are supposed to be done.
At my church.
What do I know?
I'm just the schmuck that showed up.
Ms Oatmeal After Dark
Oil and salt hung in the air,
Ms Oatmeal's mouth watered.
An Empty stool sat there,
Ms Oatmeal took the seat.
The sun had sunk ages ago,
The night was crisp and cool.
One guy worked the counter,
Ms Oatmeal wiped away some drool.
She ordered a burger and fries.
She anticipated the sizzle,
While her food cooked,
She looked and saw a lady with a frizzle.
The lady sat with a guy.
He ignored her to read,
The evening news.
This little diner was the place to be.
A plate clinked in front of Ms Oatmeal.
It was her burger and fries.
She bit with delight.
Ready to fight anyone who tries,
To take away her midnight snack..
Lights
Lights of the world
How they shine
Bright and Sparkling
And Yellow
Dotting Countries
Dotting Continents
Lost in a Sea
A sea of Blue
Seas of blue
Speckled by yellow
Pointing out the
Lights of the world
The Hopper
Lady in red
Stares at her spoon
Full of foam
The smoking man
Lets his ash lengthen
Until it falls on the counter
Another guy
Sits by himself
A newspaper at his side
The waiter, exhausted
Wants to clean up
Waits for everyone to go home
Welcome to Phillies
Where anything can happen
And sometimes it does
Pronouns
She/they
My pronouns
Are she/her
Why she/they
I am a writer
I handle several
Characters
An army of they
She/her
Is my actual pronoun
They for
All my imaginary friends
If I think
About it
My pronouns are
She/her/they
Dear Allison
I know who you are,
But who am I?
I wanted to come close
I wanted to say 'Hi."
We were close once
A long time ago.
Oh, how many times
Have I wanted to know?
How are you doing?
Who are your friends?
I suppose
In the end.
Dear Allison,
I want you to know.
I'm your mom.
I am happy with how you've grown.
In The Beginning There Was Nilson
You've taken my heart.
I'm with you so far,
You've torn it apart.
Well that wasn't very nice of you
Now was it,
Well Forget You!
Ha!
I hope
You get
What
You
Deserve
So there!

Break of dawn
I feel it in my bones
I sense the ache
My nerves quake
I rise with gusto
I throw up the sash
I stare into the foray
It's going to be a good day
I hurry to dress
I race downstairs
I don't bother to eat
Simply going out is a treat
I pause at my door
I look back
Did I forget
I don't want to fret
I throw caution to the wind
I venture out
Ms Oatmeal is bawling
Adventure is calling!
