Murky and Lurky were on their way to Rainbowland. Murky had a plan to capture one of the color kids and make a clone of him/her. The car pulls into the bushes outside the Color Castle. Murky hops out. Lurky follows him stumbles, then falls on Murky. "Get off of me!" ordered Murky. Lurky scrambles off. "What are you going to do, Murky?" asked Lurky. "I am going to capture a color kid and clone him. Then I will use the clone to destroy Rainbow Brite." cackled Murky. With that Murky crawled over the wall and into the castle. Lurky clambers after him.
They search the castle room by room, with no success. In the last room, Murky spies a blue headband belonging to Buddy Blue. He takes the headband. Then Lurky and he hustled off. They missed Lucky, who was watching them. Once they had gone, Lucky hurried off to tell Rainbow Brite about Murky and Lurky.
Lucky finds Rainbow Brite. Then Lucky jabbers for a second. "Oh no! Murky and Lurky were in the Color Castle." puzzled Rainbow Brite. "What did they take?" Lucky babbled for a second more, as Buddy Blue arrived with an annoyed look on his face. "They took my headband!" yelled Buddy. "I need that to work out. I'm going to get it." "I'm going with you Buddy Blue." called Rainbow Brite. "They probably took it to The Pits."
Rainbow called for Starlight, climbed up on him with Buddy Blue, and away they went. The Pits is the only place where Rainbow's powers don't work. They raced along the path to the Pits.

Peer Esteem
Carmen was excited at being chosen to go away to cheerleading camp. She was energized at meeting new friends, learning cheers, and having fun. She could barely keep still.
Carmen had come from a small country school. The class sizes ranged from ten to twenty students and everyone was the same.
Although, even in this small school, she had trouble making friends. She was shy and wanted out of her rut. The camp was just the thing to break her out of her shell.
The bus pulled into a place that looked like Jellystone National park with Yogi and Boo-boo raiding the trash cans. The camp head councilor was a pleasant, thin, lady with curly blond hair, named Ms. Miller. Ms. Miller explained the rules of the camp, as she gave every one a tour of the camp. After the tour, another cheerleader, Bonequesia, escorted the new girls to the dorms.
Bonequesia seemed nice, but she would learn your secrets and spread them all over the camp. If she couldn't find any dirt, Bonequesia would make up stories. After a few days, she made up a story about Carmen.
After morning stretches, Carmen overheard Bonequesia telling some girls that she didn't take baths, and the other girls were laughing. Carmen tried to confront Bonequesia about the story, but Bonequesia turned the conversation on Carmen. Saying "you shouldn't have been eavesdropping." Carmen was so upset she couldn't think straight. The rumor was all over the camp, and nothing could be done about it. More rumors would soon follow.
Following the confrontation, one of the male cheerleaders came up to her and asked her out. On the date, the guy attempted to rape Carmen. Carmen was able to get away, but it seemed that someone had spread a story that she was easy. Carmen couldn't get a moment's rest. She was constantly teased and harrassed. The whole ordeal was taking its toll on Carmen's self-esteem.
Carmen felt hopeless. One evening, after bed check, Carmen took apart her razor. She went down the hall to the bathroom. Carmen filled the bathtub with hot water, and climbed in. The water was a little too hot, but Carmen was too numb to care. Holding the razor, loosely at first, Carmen took a few practice swipes at her right wrist. The blade brushed against her skin and still she felt nothing. Carmen inhaled, gripped the blade tighter and opened a vein. Releasing her breath slowly, she lowered her arm into the water and watched the redness spread.
The next morning, as the dorm leader checked the rooms to make sure everything was picked up and clean, she arrived at the bathroom, nothing could have prepared her for what she would find. The curtain around the tub was drawn, and the floor near the curtain was wet with a pink tinge to the tile. The curtain was pulled back, and Carmen was seen below the surface of murky red water. Her eyes were open and staring blankly up at the dorm leader. The leader reached into the, now cold, water to retrieve the lifeless form. Carmen's hair clung to her face, she was still staring straight ahead. The dorm leader, checked for a pulse that was not there, and grief stricken ran out of the bathroom to the nearest phone to call 9-1-1.
Everyone saw the police and ambulance pull into the camp. They also saw a body bag being loaded and the ambulance pull away. At a camp meeting, a police officer explained what had happened. Everyone was upset by Carmen's death, especially Bonequesia. All this began with a rumor that destroyed and ended a life. Be careful spreading lies they can have a huge impact.
Adventures in Vacation Sitting
Harry had been a good sport to come along this far. He stated from the beginning that he was just going to support Mary. The most man did not understand the trip. The man did not want to be on the trip. He had wished that they all could've just stayed home. Mary promised him a vacation, once they were done with Grandma's visit.
It had been years since Mary had seen the elderly woman. Mary had missed her.
Mary dragged her husband all the way from Michigan to Florida. After a successful visit that left everyone with more laughter than I tears. Mary and her husband started on the return roundabout trip.
"So, my love..." Mary wanted Harry to pick. "Where do you want to go?"
"Home." Came the sullen reply.
"I know, " Mary sighed in sympathy. "In-laws... could be worse. At least you married the pick of the litter!" Mary's bright smile faded when she glanced at the miserable expression on her husband's face from the driver's seat.
Mary stared at the road ahead. She felt like a heel. Mary was glad to have her husband. She just had to take care of some family business. What Mary really wanted was time alone with her husband. A billboard caught her eye from the side of the road. It showed a beautiful lake and a large inviting inn.
Mary sighed. "Maybe after a night's sleep you'll be in a better mood." Mary turned the car, aming for the exit that would take them to the quaint little inn on the lake. Mary followed the signs posts but saw no indication of any lake near by. In fact the route that they were on took them into the woods. The directional markers didn't appear to be leading her in any kind of way.
A few miles past the last marker, the car came to a rundown, rickety, shack standing next to a 'vacancy' sign that never turned off.
"I guess this is the place." Mary exited the vehicle with her husband. She ran to cling tight to his arm while he chirped the car. "You'll protect me if Jason shows up, won''t you?"
"Only if you promise to protect me if he's got Michael Myers with him." Harry teased.
"OOOh! I know!" Mary got an idea and giggled. "I could ask him to do his Shrek voice for us!" Seeing Harry smile at her joke made Mary smile, too.
The couple entered the lobby. A bleery eyed clerk came in from the back room where a TV could be heard. "May, Ah hep ya?"
"We'd like a room for the night, please." Mary asked.
The clerk scratched his patchy beard. He handed over the keys. As they turned to return to their vehicle. The Clerk muttered. "Ya both need to know there are paths in these here woods.
Whatever ya do, do NOT..." The happy couple couldn't hear anymore. They were back in their car making their way to their room.
Harry looked keenly at the sign with the Vacancy sign. "Hmmm."
"What's that?" Mary asked.
"Oh nothing," Harry sounded disappointed.
Mary stopped the car to stare at her husband. (She was heartbroken at his sudden downturned mood, again.) Mary felt like she wanted to cry.
"Oh?...Oh pooo" Harry wiped a tear from his wife's eyes. "I was just trying to see if this inn was called the 'Bates Motel.'"
Mary managed a watery smile at the joke. They drove on into the night.
