"Stella's point of view,"
"Really? Do you actually telling the truth, Uncle?" What my uncle said to me just now made me feel like I was in a dream. The land for which I had been battling for a long time to have transferred into my name has now been transferred into my name.
"Yes, Stella, if you don't think I'm telling the truth, then you can undoubtedly see the court's decision for yourself." Uncle said this as he set the papers he'd brought with him on the table in front of me.
"This is truly wonderful news, uncle. Now that I have this land, I can easily construct a hospital for people with cancer." The more I praise Jesus, the less it is for me. Finally, the dream of constructing a hospital on this property will soon come true.
"I am delighted for you, but don't you think you might make a nice profit by selling so much residential land to an industrialist and building a hospital on any other land?" I know well that my avaricious uncle's true motivation in telling me this news was to come here and try to convince me to sell the land, despite his long-standing facade of contentment with my joy.
If my father had not transferred all of his assets into my name before his passing, my shrewd uncle and aunt would have transferred my father's assets into their names. I was fortunate because I was already 18 years old when my father passed away and hence did not require anyone's support.
"Stella, if you're interested in selling the land, I know a reputable business person with whom I could negotiate a fair price." Uncle Dennis voice deflated my train of thoughts.
I wanted to know if his export company had been shut down and whether he had switched to real estate. However, I restrained my resentment from venting itself.
"No, uncle, I will not sell this land. This is my final decision; I will construct the hospital on this land." I had flatly refused to sell the land before Uncle drew me even deeper into the topic.
"Okay, Stella, do as you please. After all, you are the land's owner, so use the property however you see fit." Uncle most likely realized by the serious look on my face that I had no interest in selling this property.
"I appreciate your coming, uncle, despite your busy schedule." Even if I knew what his true motivation for being here was, he deserves my gratitude for sharing the such good news. It was my responsibility to do so.
"To me, there is no distinction between you and Julia; you are both my beloved daughters." Uncle once again masked his inner resentment beneath his extra-sweet smile.
"I appreciate all the love you have given me, uncle."
When dealing with certain people, the adage "tit for tat" isn't just a figure of speech, but a necessary tool.
"I have to get going. I hope to see you later at the party. You are missed by Aunty as well." Before he left, Uncle hugged me and said,
"I also miss Aunty a lot." I was getting frustrated by his hug, but I have to be a part of this drama every time, even if I don't want to.
"Stella, what brought him here?" After Dennis Uncle left, Avery walked right into my office. Her voice was so full of interest that I imagined she was waiting outside my office for Dennis uncle to leave.
She would undoubtedly put her ear to my office door if it weren't soundproof to hear everything we said to one another.
"Why don't you speak? I can't handle the anticipation; please let me know right now why he came here." The level of Avery's pique increased.
"He had come here to deliver the court's decision to me." I gave her the paperwork for the land that had been transferred into my name.
"Oh, wow, congrats! How long have you been waiting for transferring this land? At last, they fulfilled your wish. I'm ecstatic for you." She exclaimed as she excitedly hugged me.
"Behave yourself; we're in the workplace now, and you're my assistant, not my closest buddy." I told her to keep her excitement in check and reminded her of the work atmosphere.
"Don't talk to me like that; what makes you think I don't know your office is soundproof? We are the only people who sit on this floor, so it isn't a problem." She replied while giving my shoulder a dramatic punch.
"It's not fair, Avery." I spoke in a whiny tone as I turned to face her.
"That is why it is advised to avoid making your best friend your assistant. She is highly familiar with all of your secrets, so even if you try, you can never order her around like a sourpuss." She made fun of me once more.
"For conversing with you, my beloved P.A. Darling, nobody wins." We chuckled together after hearing what I had to say.
The ringtone from her phone prompted her to pull it out of her pocket, but as soon as she looked at the screen, the smile on her face faded and was replaced by bewilderment.
"Avery, what happened? Why aren't you receiving the call?"
"Why does he call me?" Instead of answering her call, Avery continued to stare with wide eyes at the phone's screen.
"After all, whose phone call is it to make that requires so much thought?" I snatched the phone out of her hands and examined the screen.
"Steve Johnson? why is he calling you now?" I asked in a perplexed tone.
"No clue." She gave a shoulder shrug.
He disconnected the call before I could answer it, and at that very moment, the buzzing of my phone drew my attention.
"Again,Steve Johnson."
I displayed my phone screen to Avery.
"Yes, Steve, tell me what your boss wants to discuss with me right now." As soon as I received the call, I asked directly.
"Miss Parker, Mr. Woods wants to purchase some of the lands you have in California."
"What?" After listening to him, I once again did not believe what I was hearing, but when he told me that Ethan Woods will purchase the land from me for any sum I requested, I immediately felt that what I had been hearing was accurate.
The great Ethan Woods is quite interested in purchasing that acreage from me.
But why?
Why is that piece of land so important to him?
"Steve, please inform your haughty boss that Stella Parker will not, under any circumstances, sell him that land." Ethan Woods had caused me a lot of rages, so I felt it would be better to end the call before I lost control and started yelling at poor Steve.
What exactly is that guy's issue with me? Why won't he let me live in peace? He has previously stolen significant contracts from my business, and now he is interested in my real estate.
Ethan Woods certainly believes he can buy anyone over with his wealth, but enough is enough. However, he will have to confront Stella Parker once more.
How dare he try to lure me into buying my land by offering me money?
I won't feel relieved until I've given him a proper lesson for his impudence.
