Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: New Face, New Life

People who don't move their bodies often feel tired and weak when used after a long time. Your brain and nerves moving at super speed to try and get your body to working order. I imagine the same goes for me since I could not use my legs for more than a decade, being confined to my bed all those years.

But waking up in a random apartment, in a bed, you unknowingly slept at, with the feeling of your legs again would make me believe that my meeting with that ROB is truly real.

In no way would he send me to another world in my crippling condition so it's more than likely he supplied me with a random body that's very fit and healthy. If that is the case then... could I summon my Pokemon? In real life actually?

Focus, Lloyd. Get used to legs first then we can try becoming a Pokemon Trainer.

"One more time. Just... once more." Using my arms, I lifted myself off the floor and put my legs beneath me. They slightly buckled but I pushed on, making them feel the weight of my upper body.

"Just... once... more!" With a final push, I got myself off the ground and my legs felt jelly again. But I held on and kept my stance as still as possible. It was wobbly at first, standing up after so long but the feeling was coming back to me. I will walk again and I will enjoy it as much as I can.

"I did it! I'm fucking standing again! YES!" My excitement was through the roof. Finally, after laying in bed for so long, I can walk again! Thank you ROB! "Now, let's take this one step at a time."

With the dexterity of a newborn baby, I 'walked' my way around the apartment I awoke in. Slowly but surely getting used to my new legs and having confidence in walking.

I heard that reawakening old muscles, especially when you're an athlete, can take days or weeks just to get back to the rhythm again. Depending on how lazy one can be. But it only took like a couple of minutes as soon as I could walk to feel great again.

As I hobbled around the apartment, I learned it was pretty bare bones. I mean, you got your fridge, table, chairs, closets, washer, couch and television. Nothing in here could say that someone lived here at all.

"Did this person recently move here? Some clothes looked my size but no personal objects from him." Speaking off, it's been a while since I last saw my face. I want to see this person, or rather my face in this new world.

I shimmied my way to what I assume is the bathroom, and I was correct, I turned the light on to see a mirror reflect my face.

Dark grey hair cascaded fell beside my face, reaching my chin, with a handsome face staring at me with bright green eyes. I squinted and he did the same. I made a funny face and he did as well. This... is me?

I tenderly touched the mirror and the man reflected my motion. I then touched my face to get a feel for it. I don't recognize myself here and yet it is nostalgic to look at.

A new face in this new lease of life.

This sudden amount of information got me sitting on the couch in the living room. I stared absently at the ceiling with my emotions and thoughts all a jumbled mess.

ROB did say he was to send me to another world but I didn't expect him to make me inhabit another person's body. Was this guy just a normal person before I came into his life? Did I kill him to take his body? What about his family? His friends? His loved ones? Would they be worried for me the same as I worried for them? Would they recognize me?

"Why is this so confusing? I should be enjoying life but I'm scared about this." I was never a bad person, I was more of an impassive guy who would rather live my life instead of butting in others' problems. Mainly because I couldn't handle the drama of what they had going on so rather than making it my problem, I'd rather deal with my own.

But now, this guy's problem will undoubtedly be mine.

"Huh? What's that light?" A strange light floated above me as it soon materialized into a sheet of paper. It floated harmlessly in front of me as I picked it up. "It's... a letter for me?"

[Dear Lloyd Caroc,

If you are reading this then the procedure went smoothly, as it should, and you should be inhabiting your new body right now.

No doubt this letter will materialize when you see yourself for the first time so I am writing to quell any concern you might have.

And before you ask how I know of your concerns, it's because I once had them myself.

"Well, that's convenient. Also, ROB had the same concerns as I have. Does that mean he is also a reincarnator?" I'd rather not dwell in that rabbit hole and move on.

The body you are currently residing on is of my creation. I created this vessel to house the power you wished to have so this one has no blood ties in the world you reside in.

But to make sure you fit in here, I did a couple of other things to make sure your transition was as smooth as possible.

You are an orphan who got old enough to work and live a life of isolation, where you bought this apartment and fell asleep. A perfect canvas for you to try, wouldn't you agree?

"So nobody knows who I am? That's kinda sad when you think about it. But I am glad that no one will know what truly happened to me, so thanks.

But the body I'm using... it houses my power? The power of the Plates? What about my Pokemon? I don't have any Pokeballs with me right now." I should continue reading.

Now, about your power. Yes, the Plate's power courses through you but only 5 have been unlocked. The rest are locked deep within you until you have grown enough to use all of them. If you wish to unlock them all then I suggest you train yourself to become worthy.

I will leave it to you to what type of power you wish to have.

Your Pokemon however are the same as the ones in your game, Rejuvenation I believe. Instead of the conventional method of Pokeballs, they instead reside in your soul. Your vessel. They are within you and to call them out, say or think with intent on their names. I added in a couple of extra for them so no need to thank me.

Also added in another power as you did wish to become a Pokemon Trainer, and that is their inventory. A satchel is needed to bright out items so carry one at all times. Even if your satchel is stolen, the items inside would only be used by you, so you're welcome.

I glanced around the room and saw a normal satchel on one of the couches. I put it on me and instantly, a wave of knowledge flooded my head yet I did not buckle as I now knew what item to take out and what was inside of it.

I recognize these items as they were the same items I had on me in the game. That being massive amounts of potions, berries, x-items, and more. I even have the Golden Items, which are double-broken.

Putting the thoughts away, I closed my inventory and resumed reading the letter. I'll try out my power and Pokemon soon.

With that, you are now ready for this new adventure in this other world. Take caution and be prepared, but also live a little and be brave. You have been given a new life, so you must live life as intended. I wish you luck on your journey through life, trainer.

Goodbye, from ROB.]

With that, the letter turned into golden particles and disappeared from my view. I was a mess when I read that letter but now I feel calm and content. This new life was given to me by a benevolent being, a clean slate for me to use as I wish. No doubt the people I will meet will be both good and bad but I am willing to go through it.

I was reborn into this new world, with powers and partners given to me. I will make them mine and they will become my strength.

I will go through life with no regrets, just as I did playing Pokemon, and just as I will in this new life.

New Game +, here we come.
