Although anger burned in her heart, Lena couldn't help but swallow her words. A wise man doesn't fight when the odds are against him—this saying echoed in her mind. After all, getting into Grayson's car was a wiser choice than standing on the street like this. Lena felt drained, exhausted, and unable to wait any longer.
"Hurry up and get in the car; this is my last warning!" Grayson's voice revealed his exhausted patience.
Hearing his low and helpless voice, Lena's eyes flashed with a hint of grievance, tears swirling in her eyes. "My... my leg cramped, it hurts... I can't move!"
Grayson's face turned dark upon hearing this, as if a flock of crows flew over his head. After four years apart, how could she let herself get into such a state on the very first day they met again?
He kicked open the car door, got out, effortlessly lifted Lena, and placed her in the passenger seat.
At that moment, Lena felt like she was back in college.
"Grayson, I've told you before, your car's passenger seat is reserved for only one woman, and that's me. No other woman is allowed. Understand?" Lena said domineeringly, pinching Grayson's ear with one hand.
"Yes, Queen Lena!" Grayson bowed his head in submission.
He sat in the driver's seat, leaned over, fastened Lena's seatbelt, and brought her back to reality.
"Where are you staying?" Grayson asked.
"At Waldorf Apartments," Lena replied.
Grayson furrowed his brow slightly, stirred by inner emotions. They had lived there for a while during college, where he had the fondest and most innocent memories. As the car moved slowly, Lena leaned against the window, silently watching the scenery outside.
The bustling crowd, the gradually blurring trees, how many times had they walked this road together? In the past, they were always in a hurry, but now, watching quietly, she felt like she saw their past selves.
"Grayson, don't walk so fast, wait for me!" "Grayson, I bought you a barbecue wrap, it's delicious!" "I don't eat junk food." Grayson looked disgusted.
"Why are you as difficult as a young master? So hard to please," Lena babbled.
"It's indeed hard to please, truly a genuine young master," Lena muttered to herself.
"What are you saying?" Grayson frowned, glancing at her.
"Ah... nothing?" Lena stammered.
"After four years, you've started talking to yourself?" Grayson teased. "Your IQ is still this low in front of me."
Lena rolled her eyes, too lazy to deal with him, and continued to look out the window.
The car stopped at the entrance of Waldorf Apartments, and Grayson furrowed his brow slightly. Was she living here due to financial difficulties, or was there a hint of longing for him?
He knew Lena's family was not wealthy, and she used to work part-time during college. Out of respect for her pride, Grayson had never directly helped her, but he secretly gave more money to her boss, ask the boss to pay her more.
Lena unbuckled her seatbelt, pushed open the car door, and got out.
Grayson took off his own suit jacket from the backseat, stepped out of the car, and draped it over Lena. "Put it on."
"No need, I don't touch things that others have used," Lena replied.
Before Lena could finish thanking him, she was instantly pushed back to her original state.
