These people quickly received a notice from the HR department, packed up their things, and left dejectedly. No one dared to speak out, let alone show anger, so they could only silently give Lena the cold shoulder behind her back.
Lena chose to ignore their presence. She quietly focused on her work, excelled in her designs, and set her heart on becoming a renowned designer.
"Dear Lena, I'm back! How about coming out for a drink tonight?" The caller was Lena's best friend, Alice. Alice was a host on a mediocre TV show and occasionally worked as a model to earn extra money. Unfortunately, she didn't have connections or qualifications and refused to stoop to unethical means, so she didn't achieve great fame. Nevertheless, her life was simple, fulfilling, and joyful, enjoying rare moments of freedom.
After work, when Lena arrived at the underground parking lot, she saw Grayson just getting into his car. To reduce her visibility, Lena casually fiddled with her car for a while. After watching Grayson's car drive away, Lena started her car and headed to the agreed-upon bar.
As soon as she entered the bar, Alice waved at her. "Over here!"
Once Lena sat down, Alice poured her a glass of freshly squeezed juice. "How have you been lately? Missed me since I've been away?"
"Don't mention it, he's back!"
"What's even more ridiculous is that Cyber Group is his family's business, and he's the CEO of Cyber Group!" Lena picked up a lemon from the table and took a bite, making her jaw tighten from the sourness.
Alice fell silent for a moment and then patted Lena's shoulder comfortingly. "Have you considered changing jobs?"
"You know Cyber Group leads our industry, and the annual salary and bonuses are unmatched by other companies!"
"I also have responsibilities at home!"
"Forget it, I'll just avoid him when I see him!"
Alice sighed helplessly. She didn't know much about Lena's past with Grayson, only that he had deeply hurt Lena. She didn't know what had happened between them back then.
"Come on, let's have a drink for the two of us, poor souls."
"Lena, have you ever thought about starting a new relationship? Helen is growing up, and she needs a complete family!"
"Sigh, my mind is a mess right now. I just want to get drunk tonight!"
"Alright, tonight we won't return until we're drunk. Since we're at a bar, let's learn how to flirt with men like others do."
"Watching you!" Lena smiled and held her glass, leaning back on the sofa, watching Alice from a distance to see what mischief she would come up with.
Alice's 175 cm height was not for show. She sat on a bar stool, and within three minutes, a man approached her to chat.
"Miss," the man sat on the stool next to Alice and leaned closer, "may I buy you a drink?"
Alice sized up the man in front of her, who looked decent, but being able to approach her didn't make him a good man.
Lena sent a message: "He looks okay, go for it!"
"Sure!" Alice said sweetly.
If Lena had heard, she would have thought this guy forgot to take his medication before coming out.
The man ordered a glass of brandy for Alice, and they started chatting naturally. Alice cooperated well, so the two became more and more familiar with each other. The man wanted to take things further, leaning in closer.
