Chapter 32 - It's okay, as long as you're here

Dennis saw through Camilla's thoughts and coldly said, "If you want to die, you can also choose not to eat."

"You .." Camilla cocked her head and swallowed the pill. She could die, so she ate it.

"I'm going to visit Helen." Dennis picked up the medicine box and headed towards the master bedroom.

Although Helen is able to heal herself and regenerate her bones and flesh, her wrist was struck by Grant's whip laced with silver poison. The silver poison does not dissipate on its own and can only be cleaned by him. Otherwise, the silver poison will continue to corrode Helen's hand bones like sulfuric acid, gradually spreading to her heart and brain, ultimately leading to death.

As for Sam...

that little meatball was just scared and got knocked out. With a night's rest, he'll recover. Sam is the least injured among the three, of course, also the least useful one.

Camilla finished taking her medicine and lay on the sofa, covered in cold sweat. She bit down on a towel and after experiencing excruciating pain for a while, she finally regained some strength and was able to get up and walk around.

After Dennis cleaned Helen's wound, he walked into the bathroom with a basin of water. Suddenly, he felt dizzy and lost strength all of a sudden.

"Bang!"

The basin fell to the ground, splashing countless droplets of water. Dennis leaned against the wall, his face pale and his breathing rapid. Before long, he slid down softly.

Just now, he was so focused on treating Helen's wound that he forgot about the knife injury on his own chest. This was inflicted by that guy Frank...

.....

At half past eleven in the evening, inside the private restaurant of Sunshine Community.

Luis sat in a quiet private room, looking at a table full of exquisite candlelit dinner, feeling dispirited. She had no appetite and her mind was filled with random thoughts.

Has Dennis abandoned her and doesn't plan to come back? Should she give him a call to inquire? But what if it disturbs him while he's working? Will Dennis think she's annoying?

Suddenly, the waiter knocked on the door and walked in, saying, "Miss, we will be closing soon. Would you like to..."

Luis's face turned slightly red, showing a hint of embarrassment. She felt very sorry and politely asked, "Could you please let me wait for another half an hour? My birthday is about to end, and I would greatly appreciate your help!"

The waiter, seeing Louis's request, had no choice but to ask her to wait a little longer and stepped out of the private room.

In the corridor, two wall lamps emit dim light. A man's figure hides in the glow, moving slowly like a glacier. Dennis leans against the wall, his eyebrows drooping.

He carried a hint of duskiness, occasionally accompanied by a slight scent of blood. He with the waiter passed each other.

"Hiss..."

The waiter's back stiffened, and his expression tightened. He seemed to hear a strange sucking sound in his ear, icy cold and filled with eeriness. Was this sound coming from that handsome man? There seemed to be a strong smell of blood permeating the air...

At the entrance of the private room, Dennis leaned against the corridor wall and stood there. His handsome and cold face was pale as paper, with a hint of exhaustion. He said, "I'm sorry for coming back late."

Luis waited anxiously all night, finally seeing his beloved appear. Unable to control her longing, she hurriedly ran towards Dennis and said, "It's okay, as long as you're here."

Dennis walked into the private room and saw a table full of delicious dinner. He said, "Luis teacher, it seems like I have ruined your birthday."

"If you really think that way, then your apology should be sincere." Luis said, her cheeks tinged with a blush.

Dennis was slightly taken aback, "Sincerity?"

"Well, just like this," Luis said, before throwing himself into Dennis' embrace. She gently tiptoed and wrapped her arms around Dennis' neck, aiming to give him a kiss on the cheek.

Dennis slightly turned his head and took a step back, discreetly creating distance between them. He avoided Luis's kiss, and a hint of dizziness appeared in his dark tea-colored eyes. Luis's face flushed slightly, feeling somewhat embarrassed. This man actually rejected her kiss?

After Dennis stood firm, he said in a cold tone, "Let's find another place to eat."

"No need. Steak is meant to be eaten rare. Let's pack it up and take it away," Luis suppressed his disappointment, not wanting to cause any more trouble.

"Okay." Dennis paused for a moment and said no more.

At midnight, the private restaurant closes on time. Luis carries her packed food box and gets into Dennis's car.

Her face looked a bit embarrassed. Although she finally got her wish and had Dennis take her home, this man maintained a polite distance from her throughout and never approached her.

.....

In the late night of Star City, a gentle breeze brushes against the beautiful night sky. The city is adorned with countless streetlights and stars. The mountains are quiet, and the valleys are filled with fragrant orchids. The streets are sparsely populated, and at first glance, they appear empty and deserted. On one of these long streets, a silver-gray Lamborghini Murcielago speeds away like a shooting star.

Luis' home is located in the most expensive scenic villa area of Star City.

That is a spacious standalone villa. The distance from the main gate to the main residence alone is about four to five hundred meters.

Inside the villa complex, various flowers, plants, and trees are planted, with a surrounding lake orchard. There is even a small zoo built. It appears to be a typical wealthy family.

Ten minutes later, they arrived at Luis's house. Luis got out of the car, stood by the door, and waved to Dennis, saying, "Thank you for driving me home, Teacher Dennis. I'll go inside now. See you tomorrow."

"Sure." Dennis responded lightly, without getting out of the car. He turned the steering wheel and prepared to leave.

"Wait," Luis took a few steps and hesitated. She bit her lip, pondered for a moment, and reached out her hand to Dennis, saying, "Where's my birthday gift?"

Dennis raised his gaze and looked around. He took out the dress that was placed on the back seat and handed it to Luis through the car window, saying, "If I had known you were from a wealthy family, I wouldn't have chosen to buy a gift. However, happy birthday."
