Chapter 38 - Chapter 38 Sensitive Coral

"Damn, I actually survived." Mason exclaimed, lying on the hospital bed as he scrolled through his new phone. He posted a photo of himself in a hospital gown on social media.

[Just chilling after surviving an Earth-shattering #Typhoon] he wrote, smirking as he saw the replies. Many of them were asking if he was okay or what had happened.

"You naughty brat! You should be recovering in the hospital, not playing on your phone," his mom suddenly scolded, pulling his ear and giving him a dark, angry look.

Mason gulped. "Ahh... Mom, please, sorry, sorry! I'll put the phone down." he said, putting his phone aside and raising his hands in surrender.

"Good" Mason's mom, Alice, said as she sat next to him and started cutting an apple.

"Dad," Mason spoke, his fist tightly clenched. "Did he come to see me?"

Alice's hands paused as she looked at him, her eyes turning red at the mention of him.

"I know you know he's cheating on you," Mason said again. "You help him in business from behind; otherwise, he wouldn't have any ability. Why don't you get a divorce? Is it because of me?" Mason asked, his eyes red.

"Don't worry about that, Mason," Alice smiled as she rubbed his head. "Don't worry, my baby. Just wait."

She handed him a slice of apple and said, "Rest well. I have some work to do."

As she walked out of the ward and took a few steps, she suddenly collided with a hard chest.

She rubbed her nose. "Sorry... sorry," she said softly.

When she looked up, she froze. It was Nolan.

The older he got, the more handsome he became, like fine wine. His dark black eyes, messy black hair, tall bridge nose, and bronze skin tone had all attracted her back when she was young. She used to have a secret crush on Nolan.

But now, it all seemed like a distant memory. His presence didn't affect her as much anymore.

"It's okay," he said in his gentle voice and walked away.

Coral didn't feel any pain in her body, so she went to meet her friends one by one. They all were okay and hugged her, except Aria, who was looking at her weirdly.

Lastly, she went to Alexander's ward. He was wearing a hospital gown and working on his laptop, his eyes sharply focused on the screen.

"Alex..." Coral spoke as she walked toward him with small steps, her big blue eyes fixed on him.

Alexander raised his head and asked coldly, "What do you want?"

Coral froze as she looked at him. He seemed the same as before, not as friendly as he had been when they were together in the cave.

She had thought Alexander considered her a friend, but now she only puckered her lips as tears welled in her eyes, which she hid behind a smile.

"I just came here to ask how you are..." Coral said as she walked towards him, her steps still unsteady.

"Fine." he said icily, his voice cutting through the air. His coldness was like a wall, shutting her out completely.

Coral was very sensitive; she always sensed auras. Seeing him emit dark energy again, she bit her lip. "Since you're fine, I will see you later, Alexander." Coral said in a small voice, barely audible.

She called him Alexander.

He froze, watching her as she walked away, her gait reminiscent of a penguin.

He closed his tightly frowning brows. What happened to her?

He then looked at his laptop screen, his lips tightened as he read the message.

The old man who had installed cameras in the dressing rooms had been bailed out. He had connections with the government that had hindered their rescue.

Alexander's eyes grew cold, darkening with anger. Although he respected elders, that old man was a burden on earth. He didn't mind getting rid of him.

His eyes darkened as he smirked. "What's his name again? Walter." he muttered darkly, his face now showing pure evil.

His dark aura was enough to scare children. His sharp, piercing gaze felt inescapable.

"You okay?" Super Bee asked as she saw Coral sadly drop onto the hospital bed, staring off into the distance.

Super Bee knew Coral's personality well. She was a super-sensitive mermaid, especially attuned to sensing auras. If someone disliked her, it made her sad. Coral needed to learn how to live in a world that wasn't always filled with good people. Super Bee liked Sofia's idea to send Coral to school.

She would also be there to guard Coral. Super Bee knew destiny had plans for Coral. It couldn't be a coincidence that a mermaid had accidentally dropped onto Earth.

'Everything in your life happens for a reason; there are no accidents.' she thought.
