Chereads / The Boy with Scars / Chapter 52 - The Prophecy.

Chapter 52 - The Prophecy.

The prophecies came in different forms from different seers. Urza sighed.

At first, I did not perceive any significance in these actions, but they continued occurring with increasing frequency. I tried my best to conceal his tribrid nature, but as he grew up, it became evident that his touch had a peculiar power. Whenever he made contact with deceased entities, they sprang back to life. However, if he touched fresh things, they withered and died.

People didn't know I was a Lich. For centuries, I existed as the walking dead, fulfilling my dark purpose. However, that all changed when I met my wife.

My wife, unaware of my true identity, believed that I was playing tricks. Little did she know that I was actually a Lich, a creature of immense power and darkness.

She approached me with a puzzled look on her face. She reached out to touch me, oblivious to the danger she was putting herself in. As she touched my once-bonny body, something extraordinary occurred.

The touch of my wife's fingers brought about a remarkable transformation. It was as if a dormant power within my Lich body had been awakened. The flesh that had for so long been devoid of life began to regenerate at an alarming rate.

Her touch not only brought my physical form back to life, but also broke the curse that bound me for centuries.

Our relationship began innocently enough. We would spend hours together, talking and laughing. Our connection was undeniable, and I couldn't help but be drawn to her. She possessed an allure that I couldn't explain, and I found myself completely captivated by her.

As our relationship progressed, we began to explore the boundaries of intimacy. The passion between us was intense and intoxicating. We shared secrets, dreams, and fears, creating a bond that felt unbreakable.

It was during her pregnancy that something truly remarkable happened. The hunger, which had been dormant within her, suddenly awoke with a vengeance. It was a primal urge, a hunger unlike anything she had ever experienced.

At first, she feared what was happening to her. But as I supported her and helped her navigate through this new reality, she began to come to terms with her hybrid nature.

Our son was born, and he became our pride and joy. He brought so much love and happiness into our lives, and he became the catalyst for a deeper connection between us.

However, Zhan's mom continued. I, on the other hand, started dreaming of darkness. And at the end of these dreams, it was my son who brought this darkness upon the people.

At first, we weren't bothered, but as he turned three months old, we started to notice that whenever he touched things, they changed in some way. We got worried and that was when prophecies started coming out about a child and the darkness he could bring upon people.

"Upon the turning of the seas into ice, he will bring an era of sorrow and an aeon of poverty."

"The day light sing strikes twice. A surrender shall bring an age of sin and empire downfall."

"When ash rains from the sky, that a broken boy shall bring forth a vicious war and an eternal night."

"Once the sky burns with fire, a golden-haired boy shall usher forth bloodshed of blue blood and an age of inhumanity."

"The day legend becomes history; the boy shall mark monster return."

"Once the world becomes shrouded in shadows, miscommunication shall bring misfortune."

"As soon as what's shrouded is revealed, a terrible act of cruelty shall destroy culture."

"There comes a day when trees shed their leaves, he shall bring forth the dawn of evil."

"As soon as the moon turns bright, a boy clad in green shall mark an eternal night and an end to the gods."

The ultimate message was to prevent the prophecy from coming to fruition at all costs, even if it meant killing the child before he could come of age.

We faced a challenging situation and did not know what alternative course of action to take. As a result, I resorted to suppressing Zhan's powers by linking him to his mother, who would enter into a deep slumber for 21 years. By implementing this plan, we aimed to avert the onset of the prophecy, as it was predicted to begin when he turned 14 years old. While this solution came with its fair share of consequences, we felt it was necessary to prevent the potential harm of the prophecy. Despite the toll it took on Zhan, we firmly believed that this was the right course of action given the circumstances.

One of the most famous prophecies is the story of the "killing of the firstborns of all families," which has captivated people's imaginations for years. Liu breathes.

"I know," Jackson sighed. "At first I didn't believe it until the druids confirmed it. It was scary, but it's always been fascinating to me how accurate these prophecies can be."

Why did you link Zhan to his mom and not yourself? I asked confused.

"To protect them and cloak Zhan, I know the witches would do anything to lay their hands on him," Urza hissed. "Linking him to his mother is the safest way of keeping him hidden. He was and is still too young and inexperienced to protect himself."

Your magic is really powerful. When a friend of ours tried to cast a locator spell, it backfired and all the magical ingredients around her burst into flames. Liu asked.

While all this was going on, I really wanted him to talk about how we would find Zhan and listen to the story later.

We would leave at first light. "I know where they are," Urza's voice boomed in my head. "But first, I need the necklace." His voice was calm and confident, as if he listened to my thoughts. I was taken aback by his sudden response.

Why can't we leave now? I growled as I stood up from my seat, drawing everyone's attention. Frustration filled the air, as evident in my voice. Why couldn't we leave now? I yelled again.

Wang, what's wrong? My behavior surprised Liu.

I hissed in frustration, "He knows where Zhan is, and he said we will leave tomorrow? This is ridiculous!"

What? Liu and Jackson cried in frustration. We searched for him diligently for three years, and now you propose delay. What if they flee before we arrive? Liu exclaimed, losing his patience.

"Don't worry, wherever they are, I will find them. They can't hide from me," Urza said confidently.

"But why can't we go now?" I yelled in frustration, tears streaming down my cheeks.

"Wang, calm down," Zhan's mom sighed. "If Urza says tomorrow, he must have his reasons. We have to trust him. He has never let me down before."

Urza sighed. "We can't go in now. It's already 7pm, and no one is allowed to go in or out of the Barren Borderland no matter how powerful they are."

"Isn't the Barren Borderland a myth?" Liu asked, his eyes widening in disbelief.

"It is not a myth," Urza said calmly. "It is very real, and I have been there before. We can't go there now, but I promise you, we will go there tomorrow."

My mind has relaxed slightly, but I still doubt whether I will sleep tonight.

"Now that we are all settled, can you answer my question?" Liu asked.

I was also curious why we couldn't locate Zhan with magic. We have been using Meng and Cheng to know their whereabouts for three years.

"I cloaked him with my bones and blood," Urza said, leaving room for speculation and contemplation.
