Drake and Kaesir continued walking through the narrow dirt streets of White Bone Village, few words were exchanged during the entire journey, which took about five minutes.
The sound of shouting and people talking soon became evident. Approaching, Drake noticed a large training field. There were many young people of all ages and genders.
Drake looked at Kaesir, who was looking in a certain direction with a smile on his face. Looking in the direction, Drake noticed a girl, practicing with a bow.
She looked to be sixteen, seventeen years old, her clothes showed some of her well-built muscles, but that didn't take away from her femininity. Her skin was lightly tanned from the sun, she had a short haircut, almost the same length as Drake's hair. Her hair was brown and her eyes were light brown, like Kaesir's.
Her posture with the bow tensioning the bowstring in her hands seemed quite good, not that Drake knew much about archery. Soon, the arrow that was tensioned on her bowstring was released.
Swoosh
The arrow hit the target, piercing it, leaving only the arrow's feathers visible.
Kaesir, taking advantage of the opening, approached, breaking the girl's concentration.
"Frey, let's eat" Kaesir said with a big smile, not showing the serious side that Drake knew outside the walls.
The girl looked at Kaesir, but before answering, she looked down at the figure next to Kaesir. Looking the teenager up and down. She murmured to Kaesir, trying to be subtle.
"Dad, who is this cute child?"
Kaesir did a facepalm, the girl was having the same reaction as her mother...
Drake, listening at a glance, had deja vu. With a small sigh, he decided to rush his presentation.
"I'm Drake Crimson, nice to meet you" Drake made his greeting curt.
Frey, upon hearing Drake's surname, expressed slight surprise, but his reaction quickly returned to normal.
"I'm Frey of White Bone, nice to meet you Drake" She said with a smile, extending her hand to Drake.
Drake accepted her greeting, she had a firm grip, which Drake thought was cool.
Kaesir coughing, interrupted their interactions.
"So let's go?"
"Yes!" Frey responded enthusiastically.
With a bit of walking, they soon arrived at Kaesir's house.
Once there, they went to eat. Drake couldn't keep up with the speed at which the barbarians ate, but he wasn't embarrassed. Finishing his meal, he sat back in his chair, as his belly contained an almost supernatural swelling.
From the information Kaesir had told Drake, there would soon be another wave of attack. Goblins were nocturnal, so possibly today or tomorrow there would be some action.
Drake felt drowsy after eating, he felt like lying down and hibernating for a few days. Walking away from the kitchen, and walking towards the guest room. He threw himself on the bed and slept.
In the kitchen
Kaesir had a serious expression, the situation of the goblin horde was not as normal as it seemed. There was a reason Viburg's response was delayed. As for the Crimson family, Dante likely knew the motives behind the horde.
White Bone Village kept the information as much as they could, but over time, it was inevitable that it would reach people.
Recently during explorations in a mine near White Bone. They found a mana stone attached to a dark rock. Upon removing the mana stone from the dark rock, the stone naturally began to emit a fragrance that was intoxicating to monsters and supernatural beings.
The mana stone could be used to attract mana at accelerated rates as long as there was control from the user.
The city of Viburg, noticing the Goblins' movements, probably deduced that there was something of value in the village. His intent in his lack of response regarding reinforcement was suspicious. There may even be a chance that they will invade the village in their weakened state.
Goblins were beings of low intelligence, easily influenced by their instincts. However, their waves of attacks were organized, making Kaesir suspect that there was a conscious leader among the goblins.
Kaesir, as the village leader, was keeping the mana stone in his residence. They were still studying how they should use the mana stone, but time was not on their side.
Everything was lined up as if it were a game of chess. The city of Viburg, the goblins, the survival of the village, and now, a Crimson member.
Kaesir, being realistic, realized that the Deore village's chances of survival were low. He even considered using his daughter to seduce Drake, which could open up a possibility for his family's survival.
Looking at his wife and daughter Kaesir said.
"Rest for now, I don't have a good feeling about today" his voice sounded in a strangely heavy tone.
Fen and Frey nodded, leaving, leaving Kaesir alone.
The time has passed.
The sun was setting, turning the sky an orange hue. In the distance, the darkness of night could be seen, which was slowly engulfing the edges of the horizon.
White Bone village was being lit up by torches, scattered everywhere, every house, tower, and leaving a feeling of tension in the air. Creating a vision that is both beautiful and frightening.
Drake had just awakened from his sleep. Standing up and stretching a bit, he headed outside.
He liked the view across the village, but he didn't get to enjoy it much. Looking at the darkness in the distance, he didn't feel the comfort he normally felt, he felt something like... Danger?
Feeling the sense of urgency within him, a faint gleam of excitement appeared in his eyes. Apparently, he wouldn't have to wait long to be able to debut his sword.
Footsteps sounded next to Drake. Looking in the direction, he saw Frey. Frey approached with a small smile on his face.
"You look excited, Drake" Frey said, punching Drake's shoulder.
"Just a little, it looks like it's going to start soon, right?" Drake asked.
Standing next to Drake, she nodded. She was a little taller than Drake, making him look like a little brother next to her. Looking at Drake, Frey asked.
"Have you fought monsters before?"
"No, only with humans" Drake said with a thoughtful expression.
Drake and Frey exchanged a few words. He felt comfortable around her, in the short time they knew each other, he felt welcomed by the members of her family.
So they spent a few minutes. Until a trumpet sound erupted from the surrounding towers, echoing and causing vibrations throughout the village.
Drake and Frey hurried towards the main gate.
There were several warriors there. Already prepared in formation, ready to begin the hunt.
Kaesir was at the front of the group, wielding a long spear, he was giving a motivational speech to boost the warriors' morale.
"WE WILL NOT ALLOW THESE GREEN BEINGS TO CROSS OUR SHIELDS, WITH OUR BLADES WE WILL PROJECT OUR TERRIORY AND WITH OUR SHIELDS WE WILL PROTECT OUR FAMILY!" Kaesir shouted, causing the warriors to roar, following her example. The energy of the barbarians was in tune towards just one goal, to fight.
Drake felt touched by the contagious energy. Smiling a little, he mentally prepared himself.
"OPEN THE GATES!" Kaesir roared.
The double wooden gate, with a loud creak, began to open. Giving vision to a long flat field with forests engulfed in darkness in the background.
The warriors positioned themselves in battle positions in an organized manner. There were warriors of almost all ages, with an exception of children and the elderly.
Drake positioned himself close to the front line, he was a melee warrior, but he didn't decide to act hastily. Preferring to stay a little behind to observe what the goblins' approach would be like.
He didn't have to wait long.
In the distance, a faint humming sound could be heard.
Little by little, the sound became louder, bringing with it vibrations caused by its movement. Bestial screams and grunts came from the darkness amidst the shadows of the forest.
Like a herd of angry bulls. A large group of goblins began to come out of the forest, running furiously while screaming. Most of them seemed to be holding weapons made of stone, while their clothing was limited to animal skins, with some even completely naked.
Their total number was unknown, but increasingly, their numbers increased as they leapt out of the darkness that snaked through the forest.
They were getting closer, about fifty meters away. Drake followed the movement of the barbarians who equally shouted and advanced.
Both groups that resembled small armies approached, about to collide head on.
Kaesir, who led the army, was the first to collide with the herd of goblins. Swinging his huge spear like a club, the tip of his spear cut off the heads of six goblins that were in front of him.
Individually the goblins were weak, but they were as numerous as an infestation of insects. Goblins escaped Kaesir's attack, while lurking around trying to invade the barbarian army.
The warriors wielding shields tried to block the goblins' attack, being pushed back by their combined numbers and strength.
Drake, who was behind the shield barrier, saw that few goblins were about to sneak through the gaps. He sees a greenish face with yellow eyes with a distorted expression above a barbarian's shield.
Drake without hesitation. He thrust his sword in a thrusting motion.
Pwosh
Blood ran down his blade, causing the light in the monster's eyes to lose their brightness.
Pulling out his blade, the goblin's body was pressed against the shield, while his blade dragged, sliding from the goblin's head.
Incessant sounds of impact rang out around him. The screams of pain, from both sides, carried an air of savagery.
Drake's hands were shaking.
That environment, Drake liked that.
On Drake's face, a fierce smile took shape.
