Chapter 11 - Chapter 011 - Running

The hooded figure seemed to be muttering something in the distance, but when his mouth closed. His arms slowly descended as if he was controlling something.

The huge fireball suddenly descended from the skies. Reaching the Orc's body and everyone around him.

BOOM

Like an explosion from a huge bomb, the fireball exploded when it touched the ground, creating a strong pressure of hot air and pushing everything around it.

Drake, who was particularly far away, was sent flying. His body spun, making him lose his sense of balance, while the hot air seemed to be burning his entire skin.

Drake drew on his Crimson bloodline in an attempt to resist the scorching heat. Drake counted on luck as he continued his trajectory on his flight.

When the glow of the explosion ceased. The battlefield was found covered in flames, turning the clouds covering the skies orange. In the distance a huge mushroom-shaped column of smoke could be seen.

At the site of the explosion, there was a huge crater measuring tens of meters. There was no sign of the Orc's body or the barbarians who were fighting just now.

Drake's momentum weakened, causing his speed to decrease, again causing him to land in a distant location.

The bright red color in Drake's eyes seemed to be accentuated by the flames that surrounded the battlefield. Looking around and trying to stand up, Drake felt pain as he tried to support himself on his right arm, it seems more broken bones had joined the collection.

Drake felt an excruciating pain coming from his collarbone, looking at it he saw the shape of a sharp bone protruding out of his skin, almost piercing it.

Even Drake, being a battle junkie, felt a little wronged. Things are getting out of control very often, but it couldn't get any worse, right?

Drake glanced in the direction the hooded figure must have been, but the sight made him chide himself for having the previous thought.

There were what appeared to be dozens of soldiers in silver armor, led by the hooded figure, who walked alongside a figure that easily exceeded two meters.

The figure had a huge build, with silver armor that seemed to reflect all the lights of that fateful night. His head was protected by a knight's helmet, but what caught the eye was the enormous greatsword he carried on his back.

They walked with a carefree posture towards the battlefield.

Looking at so many soldiers, Drake felt that this was his limit. Coward or not, he wouldn't stay here another second, without hesitation, he decided to run, but before he ran, he heard a scream.

"VIBURG!!"

Kaesir rose from the rubble a distance away from Drake. All the hair on his body was burned, his skin was charred, with blisters bursting and blood running all over his body.

Kaesir was blinded by hatred, today, he had lost his village, his family and now, he would lose his life.

Kaesir's enraged eyes looked around, until his eyes fell on Drake. Regaining some of his lucidity, one of his hands reached a small pocket in one of the rags that had not yet been burned.

Throwing something wrapped in cloth towards Drake, he shouted.

"RUN!"

At the end of his voice, his body moved in a rush, towards the army that was approaching in the distance.

Drake grabbed the piece of cloth that was thrown at him. Not stopping to see its contents, he ran.

In his mind, memories of the few moments he spent in the village passed by. A feeling of impotence filled his entire heart, causing an enormous hatred to bubble up in the depths of his soul.

As he ran, Drake's eyes became slightly moist, closing his eyes and running, he headed towards the dense forest. Behind him the sound of Kaesir's fighting sounded, as the hooded figure's voice gave an order.

"Get the boy!"

When Drake was about to enter the forest. At a glance, he saw the giant silver knight moving towards him.

All of his instincts were screaming at him to run.

Entering the forest, the trees blurred around him. The darkness made the path a little confusing, causing Drake to almost hit the trees that were in his path.

Drake hadn't stopped for even a second, the muscles in his leg were burning, but he couldn't afford to stop now.

The sound of heavy footsteps gradually became prominent, a silver figure with a huge sword on its back was chasing him through the darkness of the forest. Getting closer and closer.

Looking back, Drake caught a glimpse of the giant, a fiery translucent energy enveloped his legs, proving to be a fire element aura.

With his eyes glowing red, Drake pushed his bloodline to the limit, trying to accelerate his speed. He had used the bloodline continuously since the beginning of the battle with the Orc, causing a lethargy to begin to spread within him.

It had been a few minutes since he had been running through the forest, but the silver figure continued to chase him and get closer and closer.

Drake was already at his physical limit, his muscles were burning, his lungs searched for air incessantly, as if he were about to drown. He was running out of strength, along with his vision slowly darkening.

From behind, a voice with a metallic effect sounded.

"BOY, STOP OR YOU'LL DIE!"

Drake didn't even look back, continuing his charge. The odds were not in his favor. Bargaining using his family name was no longer an option, if they chased him here, they were probably planning to kill him.

Sweat ran down Drake's face, making the dried blood on his body slightly damp, his disheveled hair was static due to the pressure of the wind. His energy stores had been depleted, causing his speed to decrease.

In a desperate attempt, Drake tried to absorb mana to try and replenish his energy. The mana in his body was being attracted at the same rate as before, which would take perhaps a day to recover.

The silver knight was five meters away from Drake, his hands were already preparing to grab his prey. Drake felt like everything was lost.

Until a warm sensation came from the object he was holding in his hand.

A torrent of mana was entering his body through the cloth Drake was holding. His eyes, which had lost their brightness, once again glowed an even more intense red, causing his speed to increase.

The distance between him and the Knight began to increase, little by little.

The surprised Knight shouted.

"DROP THAT STONE!"

The Knight drew his sword, but as his distance was greater than his sword, his only option was to throw it.

Parts of the silver figure's body were enveloped in fiery orange energy. Holding his greatsword as if he was throwing a spear, with a throwing motion, his arm moved.

Swish

His sword came out of his hand at an impressive speed, cutting through all the trees that were in its path. Getting closer and closer to Drake's back.

Drake didn't need to look back. He felt the touch of death was about to reach him, but before he thought to react, his feet tripped over a tree root. Drake stumbled, rolling across the ground, when something terrifying passed by, destroying all the trees in front of him, where he was previously.

Drake stared in shock but didn't stop, taking advantage of his rolling speed and enduring the pain of his broken bones, he quickly got up and continued running.

The stone was replenishing his energy constantly, but Drake felt that this source was not infinite, not wanting to test it, Drake ran.

In the distance, the silver Knight stood looking at Drake's figure disappearing into the darkness. He had consumed more than half of his Aura supply just to chase after this young man, yet he was unsuccessful.

His expression was hidden by his silver helmet, but the hot energy that surrounded him made him look angry. With slow steps, he went towards where he threw his sword.

--

Drake ran madly, not stopping for even a second. It had been thirty minutes since he noticed movements behind him, but he didn't want to see if it was real or not.

His bones seemed to be creaking with his sudden movements, his eyes were now dark, slowing his running speed.

In the middle of this dark forest, his only source of illumination was the moonlight, which passed through the foliage of the trees above his head.

So far, Drake hasn't encountered any wild animals, perhaps because of all the noise he was making while running. But he was not willing to stay here, at the mercy of his intoxicating scent of blood, which could attract predators at any moment.

Looking into the distance, he saw rocky mountains, which rose towards the sky.

Using his last strength, he headed to these rocks in search of an isolated place, so that he could at least pass out peacefully.

Approaching the rocky mountains, he was forced to withdraw from the darkness of the forest. Stepping out of the trees, the moonlight seemed to embrace his body, revealing his vulnerable state.

Allowing himself to slow down, Drake began his easy walk up the steep mountain. Almost slipping a few times due to the dizziness that assaulted his mind.

After a while, Drake managed to find a crack that seemed to contain a relatively large space inside.

Squeezing through the crack, he almost got stuck, giving him a slight despair. Using a little force, which ended up tearing a piece of his clothes, Drake passed through the crack.

Inside, there was a small cave, about two meters square, which was enough to make Drake smile.

Feeling the safe environment, Drake's legs went limp. No thought passed through his mind as his head fell back, and his body finally allowed itself to rest.
