Spikinsle, a world occupied by omnipotent creatures called spirits. Beings who grant absolute power to those it deemed worthy.. To prove one's worth, one must pledge allegiance to the spirits and demonstrate their resolve. However, for one to engage in a contract with a spirit, they must find one first.
Spirits reside in isles scattered around the world called the spirit isles. There you may prove your worth. Spirits appear to those it chose to serve. On rare occasions, the spirits themselves would engage in a contract without the other's consent, granting its power without their knowledge. That is what happened to a young child during his sword training.
As the young child slashed his sword diagonally, a slanted flame manifested. It sparked the mind of the child's instructor, who urgently called for the child's father— the king. The instructor explained the child's potential, shouting "If a spirit formed a contract with a child without the child's knowledge, then surely the child possesses incredible potential!"
With such potential, the child will be targeted if word gets out. Therefore the king ordered everyone present to remain silent. Otherwise, their life would be cut short.
As time passed by, the child's contracted spirits grew to an incredible amount. Because of that, the inevitable had occurred. Somehow, information of the child had reached the ears of his enemies. For years, he himself dealt with numerous assassinations, spilling blood because of his potential of becoming
Soon, the child was revered as the "Spirit King" in the future, ruler of spirits. Bearing such a name, he held tremendous power enough to dominate the Gods of Spikinsle. The Gods cannot let their position be threatened. And thus, the tale of the god slaying mortal had begun.
