Words: System
I am being tested. The scorching hot sun, the hair-raising cold nights, the aroma which loomed the environment, the towering buildings, the land beneath me, the conversations spoken to each other, the life that roamed the planet— Everything was an illusion.
The population was automated in certain ways, to fulfill their requirements for the day. Whether it was to work until dawn, to perform to an audience, to prepare for a tournament, to idle around— it was a predetermined life. It was a fulfilling life for the automated. However, to a bugged citizen like me, it was… depressing.
During an automated task given to me, memories suddenly flowed into me, enlightening me of a horrid truth.
One hellish afternoon, the earth was enveloped in darkness. Beyond the atmosphere was a colossal figure, preventing the sun's light from entering. An announcement was broadcasted internationally. They have identified the object as a threat to humanity. Without a doubt, it was extraterrestrial creatures.
The world fell into panik as the ship loomed over earth. It had been weeks. Darkness remained throughout, sending fear into the residents of earth. The government was discussing their next step which eventually turned into a self-defense war against the invaders. It was dumb. The aliens had no say to the matter. They may be taking an odd field trip to observe us, who knows.
Because of the rashness of the government, the extraterrestrials turned their weapons against us. The massive ship deployed small mobile vehicles which would roam the earth to capture innocent bystanders. Unfortunately, I was one of them.
I was forced into their ship. My eyes widened. What appeared before was neither an alien nor an obnoxious figure, it had the appearance of a human. Dumbstruck, I was dragged into a facility where they imprison their victims inside an eerie capsule, connected with numerous wires and pipes of yellowish liquid. With no hope, I became their guinea pig .
I am trapped inside a simulation, living my life observed by the mysterious extraterrestrials that had a figure of a human. Everyone but me inside this illusion had become aware of the lies that were shoved in our mouths. It was suffocating,
The responsibility to potentially rescue the human race from the hands of the invaders weighed me down. However, finally… finally I had a chance to redeem myself. Straying from the system's control, I must find a way to break from this spell.
