Chapter 37 - Ch 37: Junkyard

Upon arriving home, Surya turned the key and pushed open the door, only to find a large, sturdy wooden box waiting for him in the foyer.

It was an unusual sight, standing out starkly against the familiar backdrop of his living room.

Intrigued and a bit wary, he approached cautiously, his mind racing with questions about its origin and contents.

As he reached out to inspect the box, his phone buzzed insistently in his pocket. It was Arjun calling,

Surya hesitated for a moment, torn between his curiosity and the pressing need to answer Arjun's call promptly.

With a sigh, he opted for the latter, knowing Arjun's messages were always crucial.

"Arjun," Surya greeted, trying to keep his tone steady despite the tension building inside him.

"Did the meeting go well?" Arjun's voice came through, crisp and businesslike.

Surya paused, his thoughts briefly straying to the box behind him. "It went alright," he replied, keeping his answer vague yet truthful.

"Good. Listen carefully," Arjun continued, his voice taking on a serious tone.

"That box is delivered by Muthu. Don't open it yet. I'll inform you when the time is right. For now, focus on resting and preparing yourself."

Surya nodded to himself, grateful for Arjun's guidance even in such mysterious circumstances.

"Understood," he replied, feeling a sense of relief knowing Arjun was in control of the situation.

"One more thing, Surya," Arjun added before Surya could respond. "You're not going to die tomorrow. So, focus on getting your energy up."

With those reassuring words, Arjun ended the call, leaving Surya to ponder over the implications of the conversation. He took a deep breath, trying to push aside his curiosity about the box for the time being.

The rest of the evening passed in a blur of nervous anticipation. Surya freshened up quickly and retired to bed early, hoping to find some semblance of peace before the mission ahead.

However, the weight of what lay in store kept him tossing and turning throughout the night, sleep eluding him until the early hours of the morning.

As dawn broke, Surya was already up and dressed, his mind preoccupied with thoughts of the impending mission. He ate a hurried breakfast, his movements mechanical as he waited anxiously for Arjun's next communication.

Meanwhile, Arjun was busy finalizing his plan to dismantle 'The Shadow Cartel,' a notorious criminal organization operating from a hidden base beneath a junkyard on the outskirts of the city. With meticulous precision, he had mapped out every detail of the operation, leveraging advanced AI technology to gain the upper hand.

Arjun had hacked into the CCTV cameras surrounding the junkyard, gaining real-time surveillance of the cartel's movements. He had also assembled a team of expert snipers, positioning them strategically to cover the exterior of the junkyard.

However, the real challenge lay in infiltrating the cartel's underground base, where conventional tactics would fall short. That's where Surya came in.

Arjun had devised a daring plan for Surya to penetrate the base alone, equipped with specialized gear and guided by mini cameras that would provide crucial intel back to Arjun.

These cameras were essential for coordinating sniper support with pinpoint accuracy, ensuring maximum impact against the cartel.

With the pieces in place, Arjun awaited Surya's readiness. When the time came, he called Surya and instructed him to open the box that had arrived earlier.

Intrigued, Surya approached the box once more. Carefully removing the lid, he found a meticulously organized array of equipment inside.

Among them was a Glock 17 tactical handgun, its sleek design suggesting precision and reliability. Surya inspected the firearm, familiarizing himself with its features and ensuring it was ready for the task ahead.

Next to the handgun, he discovered a compact silencer, designed to minimize noise and maintain stealth during operations. He attached it to the Glock with practiced ease.

Taking a deep breath, he turned his attention back to the task at hand. He gathered the other equipment from the box: armor plates, grenades, a tactical mask, spectacles with night vision capability, magazines filled with ammunition, and a compact knife.

Amidst the arsenal of weaponry, Surya came across a smaller box containing mini cameras. His brow furrowed in thought as he considered their purpose.

As he held the box containing mini cameras, he wondered for a moment, thinking, "What is the use of cameras here?"

Before he could dwell on it further, Arjun's voice crackled through the earpiece once more.

"Have you checked everything?"

Arjun's tone was composed yet urgent. "If so, prepare yourself. The time is near."

Surya glanced at the mini cameras once more, hesitation briefly clouding his expression.

"Arjun," he began, his voice betraying a hint of uncertainty. "What's the plan for these cameras?"

Arjun paused for a moment, as if weighing his words carefully. "I'll explain as we go," he replied cryptically. "For now, trust in the equipment and focus on the mission at hand. Use the car parked outside your house."

Surya nodded, though Arjun couldn't see him. "Got it," he confirmed, his determination resolute despite the unanswered questions.

With the call ended abruptly, Surya wasted no time in gearing up for the mission ahead. He donned the protective armor plates, secured grenades and other essentials to his tactical vest, and ensured his mask and night-vision spectacles were in place.

Each item was double-checked, his movements methodical and precise.

Stepping outside his building, Surya spotted the nondescript white car Arjun had mentioned—a stark contrast to the gear he was now wearing.

As he approached, he saw Muthu sitting behind the wheel, his expression unreadable.

Surprised, Surya leaned towards the car window. "Muthu," he greeted cautiously. "Are you involved in this mission too?"

Muthu grinned, his eyes twinkling with a hint of amusement. "Just the delivery guy," he replied enigmatically. "Get in."

Surya climbed into the passenger seat, the tension in the air palpable. "Thanks," he muttered, unsure of what else to say.

Muthu nodded in acknowledgement before turning his attention back to the road. "The GPS has the location marked," he explained calmly.

"Follow it precisely, and trust in your training. You've prepared well for this moment."

With those encouraging words, Muthu exited, leaving Surya alone with his thoughts once more.

Taking a deep breath, Surya started the car and entered the coordinates into the GPS. The drive to the junkyard was tense, each passing mile bringing him closer to the unknown challenges that awaited.

As he approached the outskirts of the junkyard, Arjun's call came through once more. Surya answered immediately, his voice steady with determination.

Arjun wasted no time in briefing him on the mission ahead. "The junkyard is where you'll find the entrance to the cartel's base," he explained, his voice focused and unwavering.

"I've arranged for snipers to cover the exterior, but once you're inside, it's up to you."

Surya listened intently, committing every detail to memory.

"Your primary objective is to clear the enemies in the junkyard and gain access to the base," Arjun continued, his tone authoritative yet reassuring.

"Install the mini cameras so I can guide the snipers effectively."

"Remember, the snipers are equipped with top-of-the-line rifles, but there's still a chance that enemies may survive even after being shot. So, Stay sharp and trust in your instincts."

Surya nodded, "I understand," he replied, his voice steady despite the nerves threatening to surface.

"Good," Arjun said, his tone softening slightly. "I'll be with you every step of the way. Once you reach the location, maintain communication."

With those final words of reassurance, Arjun ended the call. Surya took a deep breath, steeling himself for what lay ahead.

As Surya was about to enter the 1km radius of the junkyard, Arjun jammed all the cameras except those at their base.

Upon Surya's arrival at the junkyard, Arjun jammed some cameras of the base, especially those showing the exterior of the junkyard.

Seeing the cameras getting jammed, the surveillance members initially thought it was some kind of glitch.

They tried to figure out what happened to the cameras but couldn't find anything wrong.

Eventually, they instructed some members to go above ground and check the cameras.

Surya parked the car a safe distance from the junkyard and took a moment to gather himself. He retrieved the Glock 17 handgun, attached the silencer with practiced ease.

Arjun's voice came through the earpiece, breaking the silence. "Can you hear me clearly?" he asked, his voice calm and reassuring.

Surya adjusted the earpiece and replied, "Loud and clear."

"Now go," Arjun said, his tone firm yet supportive. "Let's do this."

With a deep breath, Surya opened the car door and stepped out onto the dusty ground. He moved swiftly and silently towards the perimeter wall of the junkyard, his senses heightened with adrenaline.

He gripped the gun tightly in his hand, the weight of the weapon grounding him in the reality of the mission.

Ahead, he spotted three members of 'The Shadow Cartel,' huddled around a surveillance camera, oblivious to his approach.

Arjun's voice crackled in his earpiece, guiding him with precision. "Target the one in the center," he instructed calmly.

Surya took a moment to steady his breathing, his heart pounding in his chest.

With unwavering focus, he raised the Glock, aiming directly at the figure in the middle.

Time seemed to slow as he squeezed the trigger...
