The next day Seyan was woken up by someone shaking her body vigorously. She had never felt so tired in her entire life. Her first day after her transmigration had begun so chaotically. Can't they leave me to sleep a little longer? She thought.
However, the person didn't seem to give up as she continued shaking her body, "Young miss, you must wake up now. The guards are already searching for you in the dungeon. You must leave here."
Feeling the anxiety in her voice, she suddenly sat up and asked her, "What did you say?"
"You must leave this place now, otherwise the Old master will kill you," said Reyo trying to pull Seyan from her bed but she didn't barge even a little.
"You must hurry now," persisted Reyo, panic flashing on her face.
Seyan stood up and headed to a small room which was the bathroom. She quickly freshened up and wore a long decent dress with faint floral patterns. She found the clothing quite bland and not to her taste but she could do with it for the moment.
"Time to meet the so-called Murin parents of mine," she murmured.
With the help of Seyan's memories, she found the sitting room. A huge lounge twice the sitting room back at her home. She fell in love with the facade immediately and the basic style of design with everything just perfect and suited her taste.
As she stared around memorising the refreshing scene of the room, she heard a heavy voice from behind which startled her a little, "What are you doing here? How did you escape the dungeon?"
Seyan turned her back to face the owner of the voice only to come face to face with a cold version of her father back in the mundane. How ironic, reality can't be kidding right?
Seyan stood aft in the position, too shocked to talk. She could only stare at him with her eyes comically wide. She opened her mouth to speak but nothing came out.
She finally caught a grasp of reality when his cold voice vibrated in the atmosphere, "Which bastard released you? tell me because you're going back there."
Just then a female voice came out from a corridor, "My little Seyan, you're out finally. I'm so happy to see you."
The female quickly rushed towards her and hugged her. Seyan didn't know what to do but just then felt a warm liquid wet her shoulder. Why was she crying? She isn't acting, is she?
All sorts of questions reeled in her mind. As far as Seyan's memories were concerned, none of her parents seemed to care. Looking at the woman who was Seyan's mother crying in her arms seemed foreign to her. Did she care for her or was it some scheme?
Seyan's father said in his intimidating voice, "Stop it, Riell you can't defy me. I make the orders and she's going back to the dungeon and that's final."
"No, Logan you promised not to after five days but please don't do this to my child. Look, look at her, she looks all sick and pale, Logan please," pleaded the woman, holding the man's arms. Her pitiful state seemed to have worked on the man as his gaze softened.
"Fine, she won't go there. However, you must discipline her properly, she mustn't bring shame to us," concluded the man and stormed off with long strides disappearing into a corridor.
Having left their sight, the woman pulled Seyan towards a corridor. This startled Seyan thus she couldn't have the time to resit. However, she held no fear for she could protect herself. Seyan obedient followed the lady.
A couple of minutes later, they arrived in a huge bedroom. The woman still held her arm as pulled her to sit on the bed. The moment Seyan sat on the bed, the woman pulled her into a tight hug. Seyan was still startled as she found the woman acting so strange.
Back in her world, she had lost her mother at a young age and has held hostility toward her stepmother, she had long forgotten what it felt like to be held by her birth mother. For some reason, she somehow envied the previous owner for having a mother and no scheming stepsister or stepmother to deal with.
The woman felt that Seyan hadn't talked about anything and she felt her heartache. Perhaps she was still scared, I didn't protect her, thought the woman. Her heart ached with guilt and regret.
"I'm sorry, Seyan. Mum didn't protect you well. I wasn't there for you at the banquet and didn't shield you from all those venomous people. I'm sorry I didn't protect you, please forgive me," pleaded the woman and her sincere tone made it unbearable for Seyan to see her mother's sad state.
She sighed inwardly and hugged her mother back as she consoled her, "It's ok mum, I'm fine aren't I here? I'm good, so don't cry ok?"
Hearing her daughter's reassurance the more guilty and painful she felt. How could she claim to be fine when it was vivid on her pale face that she was sick? Fresh tears kept on strolling down her young beautiful face. She looked like more of a sister to Seyan than a mother.
Before transmigrating into Seyan's body, she had read books about vampires and one of them was that they hardly aged. They would look young no matter how old they were. Seyan sighed helplessly and didn't know what to do at the moment. She simply patted her mother's back while listening to her laments.
"It's ok mum, I promise I'll be ok. Don't worry," assured Seyan.
Seyan's mother broke the embrace and then looked into her eyes, "Since you're ok, you have to promise me that you'll forget about the Zenith boy, ok? He's way too far out of the league and very dangerous. Besides if you marry him, you'll only be mistreated."
Seyan stared at her mother and firmly said, "As I almost entered through the doors of hell, how can I go back there?"
Riell saw the determination in her daughter's brown eyes. It was the first time she had ever seen her daughter this confident. Is it true that someone can change so drastically overnight? she wondered..
