Chapter 21 - Now it was just a nuisance

"....was instigated by a rival restaurant who had just hosted a celebratory wedding anniversary with their customers, the Rosarios. The Rosarios not only planned to sabotage Trivedi's but also instigated the defamation. Trivedi has always provided it's customers with organic farm fresh food and the FDA's inspection further proved that last night..."

The female news anchor's voice boomed in the gym room. A soft grunt was easily drowned out by the news being reported, yet the perpetrator was nowhere in sight. Another grunt was heard, coming from the ceiling.

Kareena roped her limbs in fabric and gripped it tightly. Her expression was impassive towards the news. Unlike other people, she preferred to workout to the sound of current news than music. And despite being well off, she didn't see the need to fill the gym with every equipment ever made but a few for training when she was not doing aerial yoga.

She sighed, breathing out through her nose. The Rosario's attack and greed took her off guard but the end result did not make her feel qualms about it. If anything, she had just thrown them into their own trap. Being completely wiped out from the food industry was simply a consequence of their actions. Thank goodness for these sharp eyes.

"Arf!"

A strong bark was heard from at least 15 ft below her. Midnight black eyes belonging to a Doberman met her golden brown ones. She glanced at what the dog barked at. Her phone which lay close to where the dog stood was ringing. A wave of annoyance washed over her seeing the caller ID.

She dropped her upper body, turning herself upside down before spinning to untangle herself from the fabric whilst descending. She landed on a handstand and easily put her feet down before sitting up to take the no longer ringing phone.

Fifteen missed calls. All from the same person.

"Good morning", her lips quirked up at the dog that brought its head to be pet. She complied.

"Arf!"

Her phone started to ring once more, it was the same person. She abandoned her phone and put on her running shoes. "Let's go."

Dog and woman took off running, leaving the gym to go for a run in the field outside. The dog especially enjoyed this morning exercise with it's mistress while the latter used it as training for her speed aside from spending quality time with her dog.

By the time she got into the house, she was sweating buckets. She washed up, changed into slim fit formal dress, took a snack, prepped her dog for the day and left for work.

Even when she started off later than usual, she still ended up in a queue. The road was loud with honks from people stuck in traffic and running late. She turned on the radio in attempt to drown out the noise.

Anchor 1: "...boxes full of these goods were found at their storage room just as the receipts showed. They really did make this purchase. And we received a report that their kids are doing much better, the FDA made sure they received the right help."

Anchor 2: "What about the Rosario couple? It was reported that Enrique's wife also did show signs of food poisoning?"

Anchor 1: "They're fine. They're-"

Kareena tapped on the screen and changed the channel. All that made the news was the drama between her and the Rosarios.

"The Rosarios-"

Tap.

"Food poisoning-"

Tap.

"Trivedi's is more fam-"

Tap.

"-the met gala!" A host excitedly announced on the new found radio station. He played music for a few seconds after every sentence he uttered to keep the listeners hooked so they stay and hear the rest of what he wanted to say.

This was better, she could make do with this channel. She retracted her hand and focused on driving. The queue was starting to move.

"You can rest assured that all your favorite stars are excited about this year's Met Gala!

"We also know that the fashion police are all on the lookout to see how far people will go with this year's theme!

"But there's more exciting news than that! A piece of news that has gotten the big names in the entertainment industry just as excited!"

Kareena had now just drove into the underground parking lot of her building. The bus that usually took her employees to and from their home had long arrived. Some cars from other members of staff had too. There was one spot she usually parked and a muscular man in a suit awaited by the spot.

"For the first time ever, this year's Met Gala will have a guest that is not exactly from the entertainment industry but his presence and influence easily surpasses many. Yes, it's a he. Can you guess wh-"

She killed the engine having arrived at her spot. The man got the door for her and she stepped out in her red bottoms. He walked a step ahead of her making way to her private lift. He scanned his ID to unlock the glass doors and got the elevator for her.

With the drama passed, it was a normal working day for Kareena. She watched the digital numbers ascend until a ding sound alerted her that she had reached her floor. The doors swung open and she walked out.

"Good morning Miss Trivedi", a male assistant greeted her as she walked past his cubicle to her office.

"Mm", she responded and held her door handle to open it when she was stopped by his next words.

"You have a guest", he quickly said, stopping her. "He's waiting for you inside."

"He?" She looked over at him.

He was about to speak but was silenced by her cold stare. Seeing as he was not saying any other word, it meant it was someone she was familiar with. Already guessing who, she felt annoyance bubble up once more. It was her fault for allowing it before. Now it was just a nuisance!

Still, she pushed the door open and walked in. And just as she guessed, he was seated in the lounge area with a leg over the other, looking neat in a designer casual outfit. He looked just as annoyed.

He opened his mouth to speak but she beat him to it as she uttered coldly, "What are you doing here?"
