Chapter 22: Kiara's dilemma
With her heart pounding in her chest, she finally managed to open the box. What she saw inside made her feel like her heart had stopped, like time had frozen. There was something inside that box that she would never have expected.
As she gasped in shock, her hands trembled as she frantically looked through the contents of the box. Fear was not enough to describe what she was feeling. "Nemesis has finally caught up with me," she thought, her eyes filled with dread. She tried to stop herself from crying, but it was a losing battle.
"Are you okay, ma'am?" a voice said behind her, causing her to jump in surprise. She turned to see one of the maids standing there, concern written all over her face.
"I'm… I'm fine," she stammered not wanting the maid to see through her distress.
"What about your food?" the maid asked. "Would you like me to bring it to your room?"
