Chapter 28: Unexpected
"In your dreams," she retorted. "I am not impressed by you. I am simply wondering how low you have stooped to blackmail innocent people." She spoke with disgust and slapped him across the face.
"You're lucky I have other plans for you," Lucky snarled, rubbing his stinging cheek. "Otherwise, you'd be begging for your life right now."
He looked at Kiara's angry face and grinned from ear to ear. He had more sinister plans, and he wasn't going to take any chances. "Do you think I brought you out here alone just to watch you walk away again?" he asked with a sly smile on his lips.
Kiara furrowed her brows in confusion, unsure what he meant by his words. "What do you mean by that?" she asked, unable to decipher his cryptic statement on her own.
"What's so hard to understand, Kiara?" he asked in a husky voice. "Even a fool would know what I'm getting at. Are you too afraid to face the truth?"
