Chapter 29 - The Brain is a Good Thing, Pity You Don't Have One

Understanding how this supermarket operated, Su Nian's feelings were quite subtle.

On the surface, it didn't seem much different from the supermarkets before the apocalypse.

But in reality, the difference was huge!

Going back several decades, it seemed like this was the model used by the cooperative societies back then.

You couldn't enter to buy anything; you could only look from the outside.

If you needed a ticket to buy things now, it would be even more similar.

Thinking of this, Su Nian couldn't help but smile.

"You little brat, are you buying or not? If you're not, I still need to buy. Get out of my way quickly," a man behind Su Nian spoke.

Turning her head at the words, Su Nian saw a man in his thirties standing behind her.

His hair was somewhat long, unkempt and greasy, his beard unkempt, and his clothes seemed like they hadn't been washed or changed in ages, shiny with grease, reflecting the light under the lamps.

Because of the proximity, Su Nian could even clearly smell the strong odor emanating from him.

The First Base wasn't short of water, and if one were diligent, they wouldn't end up being sloppy like this man.

Su Nian frowned at the man, but the man sneered, "You, dressed so neatly, with good looks and figure, it's obvious you've been well taken care of. Why not let me have some fun with you? As long as you serve me well, I'll reward you with a few contribution points!"

Hearing the man's words, Su Nian's gaze turned cold as she looked at him.

The man's eyes were hidden behind his hair, but the faintly revealed gaze also made Su Nian feel disgusted.

"What are you looking at? Are you attracted by my manly demeanor? Women like you who rely on their looks and figure to live a good life are just playthings for others. Just one glance at you and I feel dirty."

"Since you don't want to look—"

As Su Nian coldly spoke, she took out several steel needles from her lower back and aimed them directly at the man's eyes.

"Then you don't need these eyes!"

As soon as Su Nian's words fell, the man's screams pierced the sky.

His eyes were now pierced with steel needles, blood flowing down his face. Along with the man's piercing screams, those around who hadn't noticed before now looked over.

With steel needles in the man's eyes, shining brightly, no one dared to doubt the truthfulness of Su Nian's words.

Su Nian didn't regret directly piercing the man's eyes.

Looking around and seeing no one approaching or saying anything more, Su Nian looked at the man again.

"The brain is a good thing, pity you don't have one. The tongue isn't necessarily a good thing; you have it, but I think it's better to cut it off."

The man's face was full of fear upon hearing this, tightly closing his mouth, his body retreating, his head shaking uncontrollably.

Su Nian felt that if he continued shaking like this, he would soon have a concussion.

Just as she was thinking this, the man accidentally stepped on something, stumbled, and fell to the ground.

The people who were originally standing around the man scattered instantly upon seeing him fall.

The surrounding people looked at the man on the ground, their expressions very wary.

It was as if they were all worried that this man would somehow implicate them.

This scene was surprisingly similar to some scenes before the apocalypse.

Su Nian hadn't expected to witness such scenes even in the apocalypse.

A flash of mockery crossed her eyes, and Su Nian had no intention of staying here any longer. She lifted her foot to leave.

At that moment, a low voice came from the crowd.

"Just a few words from her, harmless banter, and she beats someone like this. Isn't that too much? And now she's leaving without a word, not even offering compensation?"

The voice was low and hoarse, deliberately lowered.

The man on the ground seemed to be awakened by this, and he started shouting as well.

"She's killing people! Isn't there anyone to intervene? This base is so big, isn't there anyone to stand up for us ordinary folks? Just because this bitch has a backer, she can act recklessly in the base? Is our lives not worth anything?"

Listening to the man's words one after another, Su Nian chuckled lightly. "It seems like you really don't want this tongue of yours."

With that, Su Nian reached for her waist, pulling out a sharp knife from under her loose T-shirt.

The man on the ground couldn't open his eyes, so he naturally couldn't see Su Nian's movements.

But at the moment the knife was pulled out, he heard the buzzing sound, and coupled with the gasps and the frantic footsteps around, the man became even more panicked.

His body kept retreating, his panicked tone changed.

"What are you going to do? You want to do—"

Before he could finish his sentence, he felt someone approaching rapidly. His chin was pinched, and something was shoved into his mouth.

Before he could struggle, he felt a cool sensation in his mouth, followed by intense pain, causing him to convulse a few times before collapsing to the ground.

Su Nian stood up slowly, took out a bottle of mineral water from her bag, opened it leisurely, poured it onto the knife, and washed away the bloodstains.

She also rinsed her hands with the water, just enough to finish the bottle.

Su Nian inserted the knife into the mineral water bottle, effortlessly cutting it into two halves.

"You—"

Su Nian glanced around, her gaze slowly moving over each person's face. "Is there anything else you want to say about this matter?"

As Su Nian's gaze touched each person, they all stepped back, shaking their heads vigorously as if they were denying a tidal wave.

Su Nian's gaze continued to move slowly, finally locking onto a person.

It was a small man, equally unkempt.

After their eyes met, he quickly lowered his head and moved behind the people beside him.

Seeing this, Su Nian pursed her lips. "It seems like you were the one speaking just now! Are you with him? Friends? Brothers? Wanting to speak up for him?"

With each word Su Nian spoke, the small man shook his head more vigorously, finally falling to his knees with a thud.

"I was wrong! I was wrong! I was talking nonsense just now because I was blinded by lard! Please spare me! I won't dare again!"
