Chapter 31 - I Have Two, I Can Give You One

On the way back, Su Nian deliberately observed the pedestrians coming and going around her and indeed noticed many of them carrying large and small packages.

From the size and shape, they looked like winter clothes or quilts.

It seemed that many people had already received the news of the impending cold weather and had begun preparing in advance.

Su Nian didn't find it surprising that the base could predict the severe cold.

There must be many advanced devices and talented individuals in the world that she was unaware of.

Anticipating extreme cold in advance and getting people to start preparing would undoubtedly reduce the number of casualties when the temperature dropped.

Previously, Su Nian had been debating whether to share the news of the extreme cold, but now, she felt relieved knowing that everyone had already received the message without her having to say anything.

Back home, Su Nian was once again covered in sweat and hurried to take a shower.

During this period, besides cooking, Su Nian also heated a lot of hot water every day.

Since she generated solar power herself, she didn't have to worry about electricity bills.

She stored buckets of hot water in her space, all prepared for the impending extreme cold.

Moreover, Su Nian was considering making a trip outside the base to bring back a charcoal heater.

Of course, she already had one in her space, but if she wanted to use it openly after the extreme cold arrived, she needed to figure out a way to bring it out beforehand.

With these thoughts in mind, the next night after dark, Su Nian drove out of the base.

Su Nian had been at the base for over two months now and this was only her second time venturing outside.

Arriving at the gate of the base, Su Nian saw that there was still a long line of cars outside.

Anyone with some ability, upon learning of the base's existence, would try to make their way there.

Life outside the base was simply too harsh.

Su Nian didn't dwell on it and after leaving the base, she didn't go too far, just found a place with no one around to park her car.

The trunk had already been emptied by Su Nian, leaving only half the space for a heater.

Looking at the heater, Su Nian inexplicably thought of Jing Mo.

After hesitating for a moment, she took out another heater.

This type of heater was 60 centimeters tall, with a silver-white body and four legs, while the top was a black cast iron stove plate.

The stove plate was a square of sixty centimeters, with a stove in the middle and a smoke outlet on the side.

After comparing various fancy heaters, Su Nian finally chose this simple and practical one.

The fancier they were, the more likely they were to have various problems.

Instead, these simple ones were more practical and durable.

Su Nian put all the accessories in the passenger seat, and the remaining space in the car was filled with boxes of charcoal.

Not only inside the car, even the roof was stacked with boxes filled with charcoal by Su Nian.

After loading everything, Su Nian drove directly back to the base.

Just as she parked the car downstairs, Su Nian hadn't even gotten out of the car when she saw Jing Mo walking over from not far away.

Su Nian got out of the car and Jing Mo was already by her side.

Jing Mo glanced at the roof of the car with some curiosity, "What's all this?"

"You said it's going to get cold, so I brought back two heaters and some charcoal."

"Some?"

The roof was piled with boxes a meter high, yet Su Nian called it "some"?

Even if you used many to describe it, it wouldn't be too much, would it?

"Yeah, some," Su Nian affirmed again. "By the way, have you prepared heaters?"

"No. I only prepared some warm clothes."

"I have two. I can give you one."

"Then let's move the stuff up together! Let's start now! With so many things, I hope we can move them all up before dawn!

Oh, I also have other weapons there, you can pick one."

Hearing Jing Mo's words, Su Nian gave him an appreciative look.

It had to be said that Jing Mo was really sharp; his mind worked so fast!

Although Jing Mo could be a bit talkative sometimes, and a bit too familiar, he had a good sense of distance and propriety, making him not annoying at all.

He was a good neighbor!

The two of them first moved the charcoal from the car roof.

A box of charcoal weighed fifty kilograms, and Su Nian could carry two boxes up to the sixth floor at a time without breaking a sweat, and Jing Mo was the same.

After moving the charcoal from the roof, Su Nian then opened the car door.

Seeing that the inside of the car was also packed full of boxes, Jing Mo looked at Su Nian with admiration.

To be able to get so much charcoal, one must be quite capable!

When moving the charcoal, the two could each carry their own, but for the heaters, they had to carry them together.

Su Nian only took out two heaters, but she brought four sets of accessories, two for each person.

In case of any problems in the future, it was good to have replacements.

Installing the heaters was not difficult.

After selecting a location and placing the heaters, they just needed to install the smoke pipes and lead them outside.

Su Nian planned to install them all at once, after all, the extreme cold was not far away.

Now that they were installed, they could be used directly when the time came.

Before leaving, Su Nian had already cleaned up the bedroom.

Everything that shouldn't be there was put away in her space.

Now, as she and Jing Mo carried the heaters into the bedroom, Su Nian wasn't worried at all.

The bedroom was originally only about ten square meters, with a bed taking up a third of the space, and now with another heater, the room seemed even smaller.

But Su Nian didn't mind at all.

A smaller room was better; when the heater was lit, the temperature in the room would be higher.

Su Nian had already moved the bed to a different position, leaving a space by the window, and placed the heater by the window, about a meter away from the curtains.

The heater was placed centrally, not touching anything on all four sides, to prevent accidents.

After placing the heater, installing the smoke pipe, the next step was to make a hole in the wall.

Su Nian went to another bedroom and came back with a tool for making holes.

Without saying a word, Jing Mo took the tool and climbed up the ladder, making a hole in the appropriate place and inserting the smoke pipe.

Once this side was done, the two went to Jing Mo's side.

This was also Su Nian's first time entering Jing Mo's bedroom.

Jing Mo's bedroom was much simpler than Su Nian's; he didn't have floor tiles or wall decorations, just a bed in the room, with a table, and the rest of the space was filled with boxes of all sizes.

Su Nian didn't pay much attention to those boxes, she just asked Jing Mo where to put the heater.

Jing Mo also lived in a small bedroom, and with so many things in the room, there was

simply no extra space to put the heater.

"Wait for me a moment, I'll move these to another room first."

Su Nian wasn't unwilling to help, but these things belonged to Jing Mo, and if he didn't ask, she didn't feel it was appropriate to help.
