Chapter 32 - It Would Be Better to Drop Fifty or Sixty Degrees

Who knows if there's anything valuable inside here.

Luckily, Jing Mo moved quickly and soon cleared out some boxes, freeing up space.

It took them half an hour to install the stove together.

"How much charcoal do you need?" Su Nian asked.

Jing Mo shook his head. "I don't need any. I'll buy some from the base later."

Hearing this, Su Nian nodded in understanding.

Jing Mo had mentioned before that the base had given him a lot of contribution points.

Plus, in these two months, Jing Mo must have been helping out at the base, accruing new contribution points.

Even if Jing Mo wasn't wealthy now, buying some charcoal shouldn't be a problem.

Jing Mo walked to the wall, opened a box, and took out two boxes from it.

"I have weapons, and I also have this. See which one you prefer."

As he spoke, Jing Mo handed the two boxes to Su Nian.

These were two rectangular boxes, flat and black, with no text or patterns on them, making it impossible to tell what was inside.

Just by their shape, they looked somewhat like packages for winter coats.

Could they really be winter coats inside?

Su Nian wondered as she opened one of the boxes, and indeed, she found black clothes inside.

"Don't be fooled by how thin these clothes are. They provide excellent insulation. Of course, if you don't want these, you can exchange them for weapons."

Su Nian closed the box. "I'll take them."

"As long as you like them."

Su Nian glanced at her wristwatch. It was already four in the morning.

It wasn't early anymore; the sky outside was already bright. They just hadn't opened the curtains, so they couldn't see it.

"Since everything's done, I'll head back now," Su Nian said.

"Alright, I'll walk you out."

Jing Mo said and indeed escorted Su Nian to the gate.

Su Nian didn't know why he bothered to walk just these few steps. After returning home, instead of rushing to see the two sets of clothes, she tidied up the messy boxes in the living room.

These were the ones that had been cleared from Jing Mo's place, and Su Nian had no intention of putting them back into her space. She simply stacked them in the living room since she mostly spent her time in the bedroom anyway, and the living room wasn't really being used.

After sorting out these things, Su Nian freshened up and went straight back to her bedroom.

She had had a tiring night and didn't intend to go to the kitchen again.

Sitting at the small table in her bedroom, Su Nian took out a bowl of cold noodles from her space.

In addition to the cold noodles, she also took out a plate of Korean fried chicken, paired with honey mustard dipping sauce.

This kind of dipping sauce was most comfortable to eat in the summer. Paired with chilled beer, one gulp sent a chill straight to the top of one's head.

After finishing her meal comfortably, Su Nian didn't immediately rest but leaned against the edge of the bed, looking at the stove installed not far away.

Su Nian had bought quite a few of these stoves.

Apart from charcoal-burning stoves like this one, Su Nian also had electric heaters, solar heaters, fan heaters, electric blankets, and water heaters.

There were countless hot water bottles as well.

Even though she was already so well-prepared, whenever she thought of the extreme cold, the feeling of freezing one's blood couldn't help but make Su Nian shiver.

At that moment, Su Nian's gaze fell on the two boxes beside her.

She had been too busy eating earlier and hadn't had a chance to examine the clothes inside carefully.

Now, seeing them, Su Nian immediately picked up the boxes, opened them, and took out the clothes inside.

The clothes looked like ordinary black winter coats, even thinner to the touch than regular ones. But upon closer inspection, Su Nian finally felt the difference.

The texture was unlike any fabric she had ever touched before.

It was somewhat similar to the fabric Jing Mo was wearing the first time they met.

Su Nian slipped her hand into the sleeve, and soon, she felt her hand warming up, gradually getting warmer.

Before the apocalypse, many advertisements for thermal underwear claimed to have fabrics that would generate heat when worn. But most of them were just gimmicks.

Yet the clothes Su Nian was holding now were truly generating heat.

Thinking of Jing Mo, Su Nian quickly understood.

If it were someone else presenting her with such clothes, Su Nian might have wanted to investigate their source.

But since it was Jing Mo, she let it go.

Their current relationship was fine as it was. It was better not to cross any lines and touch each other's secrets.

Su Nian washed both sets of clothes and hung them in the living room.

The sun was already up outside, and the temperature was rising rapidly. The temperature in the living room was also gradually increasing.

By the time Su Nian woke up in the afternoon, the clothes would probably be completely dry.

Indeed, that was the case. After waking up in the afternoon, Su Nian went to the living room, saw that the clothes were completely dry, and put them away, temporarily storing them in her space.

Su Nian had no intention of going out again. After freshening up, she went to the kitchen to cook.

Su Nian took out some beef brisket and decided to stew some tomato beef brisket.

To make delicious tomato beef brisket, you had to control the heat well.

With plenty of time on her hands, Su Nian wasn't in a hurry. She simmered it slowly over low heat, and soon, the kitchen was filled with a delicious aroma.

It wasn't until it got dark outside that Su Nian finally finished stewing a large pot of tomato beef brisket.

Su Nian found a two-layer stainless steel lunch box, filled one layer with rice and the other with plenty of tomato beef brisket.

She stored the lunch box and the remaining tomato beef brisket in her space, then took a shower to wash away the strong smell, changed into clean clothes, and headed towards the door.

Just as she reached the door, before she could open it, she heard voices outside.

"Jing Mo, what did you buy? How come the people from the base helped you deliver it?"

It was the voice of the lady from the fifth floor.

Su Nian hadn't seen the lady downstairs for over two months. She didn't expect her to know Jing Mo's name, let alone be so gossipy.

Why was she so nosy?

Just as she was thinking, she heard the lady ask again, "That girl opposite you, why doesn't she ever go out? What does she do at home all day? I saw you helped her move a lot of stuff yesterday. Is it all food? How does such a young girl have so much food?"

Su Nian frowned. Just as she was about to open the door, she heard Jing Mo's voice.

"Neighbor, haven't you heard that the temperature is going to drop? Instead of poking around, why don't you stock up for the winter?"

"What is there to stock up?" The lady's voice was full of disdain. "This damn weather is going to roast us alive soon. It would be great if it could drop by fifty or sixty degrees! When I moved in, I brought all the winter clothes with me!"
