Avery walked beside Evelyn, heading to the CEO's office. Avery held her bag tight on her shoulder and wet her dry lips with her tongue.
She was somehow nervous, which was very unlike her, and she tried her best to calm down.
"Please go in," Evelyn said, gesturing with her hand towards the door of the office room.
"Okay," Avery replied, pulling the handle of the door and pushing it open.
Avery stepped into the room, closing the door behind her. She took each step closer to where the fancy table and chair were.
She could see his shoes underneath the table with his legs crossed against each other. Avery raised her head and looked at the man sitting casually on the table with his legs crossed.
A good, faint, rich smell of lavender envelopes the room, and the sun makes its way in because the blinds pulled up.
"You sent for me, sir," Avery said the moment she got to his front and bowed her head low before raising it.
