Avery ran towards the elevator with her handbag still clutched to her hand. Her hands were sweaty and her throat felt parched from running for several minutes.
She glanced back and saw the faint vision of the man chasing her, it was her ex-fiancé.
"You should fucking leave me alone!" She rants while stamping her feet on the floor.
With the elevator not opening up soon. She considered the chance of running towards the stairs but she knew she would be caught in no time.

Avery had gotten the invitation to come to the party organized for past students of Equinox College. Her friend Daniella has told her about the place the party will be held. When Avery saw that it was going to take place in the top Star hotel in Los Angeles.
She considered going to gather fans as she was now pushing her modeling career. Little did she know that Daniella was planning to have her offered to her ex-fiancé who made life miserable for her by getting married to her sister.
Logan, the most handsome guy in Equinox college broke up with Avery three days before their wedding. Betrayed and humiliated by the man she loved, whom she had been courting for the past three years, Avery left her family and decided to pursue her dreams.
She went to the party with the dress she got from the brand she helped to market their clothing and accessories products. It was a short blue dress that exposed her long legs.
She got to the hotel and moved to the club room located on the second floor. The blazing music almost damaged her eardrums as she didn't like partying.
Some of her mates then were already dancing on the dance floor while some were busy making out on the couch.
Avery was sitting on one of the chairs in front of the long table and not long after, the devil came in with her sister smiling at everyone with her pretentious face. His dark hair was tousled back, his long strides made him even more handsome than a model walking the runway.
The black tuxedo suit matched his white skin. He strolled towards the long table and crossed his legs as he gracefully sat down. Everything about him screams of wealth.
Avery averted her gaze from him when the devil almost makes eye contact with her.
She knew she wouldn't be able to avoid the him and her sister, considering the fact they were sitting directly in front of her.
Suddenly, Avery felt someone gently tap her arm and that was when she noticed that everyone was staring at her.
She wondered if she had missed something when she was dazed out. She looked behind her and found Daniella smiling at her.
"Logan is asking about how you are doing," Daniella explained to the clueless Avery.
Avery quickly faked a smile as she stared at the devil straight in the eye.
"I'm... I'm fine" Avery replied, her voice almost breaking as she felt anxiety building up within her.
"Okay," Logan replied smirking as he gently made sounds on the table with his long fingers.
Avery brought out her phone and tried to search for something online just to keep herself busy. Now she is considering staying at home.
Daniella walked towards Logan and sat beside her sister, Jessica. Avery didn't bother to greet her sister because the two weren't on good terms after what happened a year ago.
The skilled bartender came to their side and Logan asked for some bottles of whiskey to be brought to the table.
Some of the girls come to join them, swaying their hips to the music. Though everyone was busy dancing and enjoying themselves, Logan couldn't take his eye off the breathtaking woman in front of him with just a gathering table separating them.
He fantasizes in his head about what he will do to her if she is under him right now.
Jessica, Avery sister, not liking the way Logan was staring at Avery, quickly placed her hand on his thighs, rubbing it slowly. Logan smiled warmly at his wife while the waitress brought some of the drinks to the table.
Logan told everyone to take the drinks which they did but Avery couldn't dare take one. She can't handle her alcohol. Several minutes passed, and some of the best students were called to give some speech and everyone clapped their hands as they watched the top students stuttering on the stage in their drunk state.
"Let's play the popular teen game, everyone!" Logan announced for everyone to hear.
Almost everyone sitting around the gathering table were eager for the game and some stay back because they are drunk.
"When the bottle points to you, you either choose truth or dare. Failure to answer the question, then you will have to drink two glasses of alcohol." Logan announced for everyone to hear.
Avery shifted in her seat as she didn't like this kind of game. Her hands felt sweaty as she gently rubbed it on her exposed thighs without anyone's knowledge.
"Fine. We will get to know more about each other since some of us already lost contact."
Everyone agreed as the girl in glasses said this. She was among the top student in Equinox back then.
The game began, and the bottle was spun before pointing at one person. Avery was happy it didn't point to her as the bottle was pointing at one of Logan's friends called Drake.
He was told to kiss any girl on the table for five minutes. He walked towards the popular girl then in college and kissed her for five minutes before going back to his seat. The bottle was spun continuously before finally pointing at Avery.
Avery watched as Logan spun the bottle before it stop to point at her. She swallowed the saliva at the back of her throat as she waited for his question. Logan leaned closer to her before asking.
"What is your occupation, Avery"
He knew what she was into but only wanted to expose her to everyone.
"I'm a model," Avery replied promptly, drawing her legs closer together.
"Hmm..." Logan hummed before reclining back in the chair.
Avery spun the bottle this time, and it pointed at the girl in glasses.
"What is your favorite dish, Maria?" Everyone at the table, except Logan, laughed at this question, finding it childish.
Maria didn't mind and answered, saying she loved omelets. Avery wished the ground would just open up and bury her for a while.
Despite feeling embarrassed, the game continued. For the second time, the bottle pointed at Avery again, and it was Logan who spun it again.
"How did you feel back then when I rejected you?" Logan asked with a straight face, staring directly into Avery's eyes.
All eyes were focused on her as they waited for her reply. The atmosphere grew tense and her heart thudded in her chest in pain. She didn't came here for this.
"I...I..." Avery stuttered, unsure of the right words to use. She felt like crying as she sat at the table.
"I will drink," she finally said.
Everyone slumped in their seats with sad faces. Logan smiled before pouring the drink and then handed the galss to her. Avery gulped the drink down in one go and did the same with the second glass.
The game continued, but Avery wasn't comfortable anymore. She felt her core heating up, and her forehead became sweaty. She noticed her nipples hardening, and her core vibrating with need.
"Oh no! This can't be true. I only drank two glasses," she screamed inside her head. She looked up and found Logan staring at her with a faint smile on his lips.
A message popped up on the screen of her phone. She quickly averted her gaze to look at the phone.
"I still have your video with me. Do you remember that night?" Avery's heartbeat accelerated in her chest because she could recognize the owner of the message.
She picked up her phone and purse, leaving the table. The guys didn't notice as they were busy playing the game drunk, but she knew someone was watching her amidst everyone.
She couldn't walk well; her eyes were becoming dizzy as she dashed out of the club.
"The drink...." She said, pausing with realization dawning on her.
"He fucking drugged me," Avery whispered as drops of tears spilled out of her hazel orbs.
