"The target is approaching a busy intersection, and we're notifying local authorities to close it off.Agent Smith has visual on the target, and is ready to engage." I'm relaying this instructions to her via headset. I hear his breathing, calm and steady. I know he's got this in the bag. "Bring it home, Agent Smith!"
"Will do."Just as Agent Smith is about to move in for the capture, the target makes a sudden, unexpected move. It darts into a nearby alley, and Agent Smith follows. I'm tracking their movements on the monitor, and my heart is racing. They're moving so fast, it's hard to keep up. But Agent Smith is keeping his cool, and I know he's not going to let this one get away.
Agent Smith emerges from the alley, alone. I hold my breath, waiting for confirmation. 'I've got it,' he says, his voice steady and confident. 'The target is secured, and no civilians were harmed. Mission accomplished.' I let out a sigh of relief, and start to process the post-mission paperwork. Just another day at the office. I'll have to report this in length to her later, but other than that today's been pretty laid back.
I stack my papers when i notice the red light blinking on the monitor but it's already too late. "We have a signal from pandemonium at west brown street, Agent Smith."
" I'm on it." He cuts me off, already dashing towards the location.
I swivel my chair towards the smaller monitor and begin my work." Calibrating grade." I'm not sure when but my fingers stopped moving as I stare at the results in awe and most importantly fear, a primal raw emotion of fear bubbles up inside me but i eventually find my voice.
"Dear God.... it's a grade eight fallen. Agent Smith, i advise you to retreat while i contact headquarters." I'm not convincing anyone at this point but hopefully headquarters has a plan.
Around me my colleagues are running around as they contact headquarters but i can tell some of them have given up. Some are already evacuating the building trying to get to their loved ones but they'll never make it out of the city in time.
"A grade eight fallen. Heh" i find myself laughing, "Just our luck, isn't that right Agent Smith?" There's no answer.
"Agent Smith? Come in Agent Smith." Static fills my ears as realization sets in. He's dead.
"I can't reach headquarters!!" A female colleague yells ready to burst into tears, i think her name was Aisha right? We all took this job to make the world a better place, to protect the innocent from the fallen. We weren't in the front lines but we were making a difference but with a grade eight fallen, even headquarters has abandoned us.
The sound is deafening and some of us even lose consciousness. The tremor hits a few seconds later as i feel my life crushed out of me in an instant.

I watch the door close again and sigh. At least I'll be discharged this week. The doctor was surprised to not have found any burns on me, don't get me wrong i was in a terrible condition when i was brought to the hospital. Most of my ribs were crushed, i had internal bleeding from pretty much everywhere. A long gash from my shoulder down to my arm (left a nasty scar by the way) and my other arm pretty much bent the wrong way, but no burns, there wasn't a physical sign i was caught in a fire, different from the other three survivors.
It's been chucked up to just luck but i know better. It probably has something to do with my past life dying to a fire (that she caused). Which brings me to the elephant in the room, why did i awaken memories of my previous life and most importantly how did i end up with those disgusting excuses for humans called my parents in my previous life.
I can't believe i went through something like that at all. I love my current parents and i am doing my best to make sure my kids have the best life i can give them.
I love Pyrrha and Ethan so much i can't imagine putting them through any of the things i suffered in my previous life.
Pyrrha just got admitted into college and Ethan is still in middle school. It's hard being a single parent but I'm doing my best regardless.
Ethan has be coming to visit every two days with mom bringing him while Pyrrha has only visited me five times in the month I've been here.
Yep I've been here for a month and I'm finally getting discharged although in hindsight this should have taken considerably longer since I'm not even sure how i lived through those injuries but yeah just a month although my finances suffered a sizable dent for my surgery.
I was half scared that they would experiment on why i healed so fast and while i want to know, i really like not being experimented on. After all I'm not a Fallen which brings me to the dinosaur in the room,or rather the loading symbol in the side of my vision. It's been there since i woke up and it moves along side my vision so it's safe to say it's something only i can see.
This is that right? I've written so many novels and have read even more to know that this is my golden finger manifesting a system. As a somewhat successful author I'm very familiar with Isekai, reincarnation, rebirth, transmigration and regression tropes so it makes sense if i look back on it.
I awakened memories of a previous life and now I'm manifesting a system.
I wonder what kind of system I'll get, maybe it can allow me to bestow systems to Pyrrha and Ethan. That way they'll be safer from the fight between the Fallen and the Agents.
Am i actually a protagonist character like in the novels.
Anyway it's just a loading symbol for now so I'll have to wait for a while.
The door opens and a nurse walks carrying a tray with her. It's getting dark so it's probably time for dinner.

"Ok Lucy take care." Sarah, my best friend hops into her car and drives off.
Hope she stays safe, just last night,Rover City sank into the ground. Rumours claim it's a Grade eight fallen. An entire city filled with life, gone in the span of a single night wiped off the face of the planet. So many deaths.
I stand still for a while and breathe in fresh (non hospital tainted)air for the ninth time.
I don't even have to clean the house, thank God for my loving mom and dad.
Which is where I'm headed right now to go pick up Ethan. He's been staying with them in the country side since my accident.
Half way through the city i pull over as the loading symbol finally stops ( i actually got used to it which is why i noticed it immediately).

Hehehehehe, hahahahaha. I couldn't stop myself from grinning like an idiot. Here it was, my cheat. Hmmn lower than average strength, agility and defense but higher intelligence and dexterity? Well i am a single mother so that checks out.
Fire immunity? That explains why i didn't get burnt in the fire.
Regeneration? How did i even get regeneration.
I'm guessing energy points refer to stamina, health points is basically hp and mana point? Why don't i have any mana? Noooo my dreams of magic crushed before my eyes. Hmmm? Notification?
I casually tapped the notification button.
