Lucy did her best to tune out the rampaging thoughts in her head and stay focused on the road.
Her original destination was her parents home but the chaos of wrecked cars compelled her to alter her course more than half of the time, extending a four hour trip to almost six hours.
Luckily the world wasn't ignorant of the supernatural so there was some semblance of order during emergencies.
As the number of vehicles on the road dwindled, the surroundings grew quieter.
Lucy eased up in the gas pedal, her body relaxing from the tension albeit slightly.
Lucy's parents live in a small town called Meadowbrook. It's a quaint, sleepy town, surrounded by rolling hills and lush green fields. The town is a tight-knit community, and everyone knows everyone else. Lucy's parents have lived there for years, and everyone knows them as friendly and helpful people.
At least that's how it was. She can't explain it, but it's like a nagging feeling in the back of her mind. After an almost six hours drive, she sees something in the distance. It's a plume of smoke, rising up from the direction of Meadow Brook. Her heart starts to pound. Is her family okay? She pushes down on the gas pedal, speeding towards the smoke.
As Lucy gets closer to the smoke, she starts to see flames. She speeds up, and she can see the town beneath the smoke. But something is wrong.
Stepping down from her car, Lucy mentally reviews what she knows of her parents milieu. Doing her best to sneak around, she makes it to her parents villa. The air is thick with smoke, and it's hard to breathe. She calls out for her parents from outside the gate, but there's no answer.
The house was a classical designed home of two floors, it had intricate patterns, cornices and others.
With the gate already open, she slowly made her way to the house.
Her steps were rather loud even though she tried to walk lightly, her hands trembling, ready to burn to a crisp whatever jumped from the shadows. It didn't take long for her to hear rustling and growling.
"Hello? Anyone there?" She called.
No answer.
She asked again" Hello?"
Still no answer.
It happened very suddenly, she hadn't even taken another step when she heard a gust of wind whip in her direction. Something lunging at her from the shadows.
In a swift motion, she raised her arm towards the sharp teeth of the beast .
Chomp.
Her heart stopped as she gaped at the ferocious teeth digging into her arm grating at her bone.
Forgetting to scream, the pain was so intense she nearly blacked out.
Holding on to her consciousness, she began swinging her arm in panic, her instincts flaring up. Eventually flinging the creature at a wall.
The creature crashed with a bang, a web crack forming on the wall before sliding down to the floor leaving a trail of blood. Dead.
Dragging herself to her feet, she faced the creature with rage in her eyes and then.
"Die!!!!"
BOOM.
"Die!!!!"
BOOM.
"Die!!!!"
BOOM.
"Diiieee!!!!!!"
BOOM.

Catching her breath, she collapsed as the adrenaline wore off.
"Hah hah hah" she drew ragged breath as she felt her wounded arm starting to itch.
"No no no, not again!!" She began clutching her arm in panic.
A few moments passed without her feeling the pain from her arm blowing up (literally). Looking back at her arm she's surprised to see it completely healed.
' woah, i could even see the bone before.'
Then she remembered.
'Ah of course.'
[Regeneration {high}]
Her newly gained ability ( although everything was newly gained) regeneration was able to heal her arms even when they exploded, so a wound like this no matter how fatal was a piece of cake.
She didn't dare stay too long, so after getting her wits she rushed into the house. And if the town was scary then the inners of her parents house was a straight up horror movie.
The floor was holding up a few volume of water up to her calf, probably due to a broken pipe somewhere. The walls were stained with blood. The windows were all broken through. Making her way to her parents room she was mortified, a massive bed graced the center of the room, it's original gray color stained with red. Of course that would have been less scary if the bed hadn't been cleanly split in two, but that wasn't what stopped Lucy in her tracks. No what caused Lucy to freeze was the upper half of her mother resting on the rail of the window.
Tears streamed down Lucy's face in succession as she slowly made her way forward. Her legs seemed to have been weighed down as if moving through concrete.
"Mom?." Lucy's voice croaked as her tears rained down on her mother's corpse.
From the look on her mother's face with her eyes seeming to climb out of their sockets, it was obvious her death was not painless.
Moments went by with Lucy laying down right next to her mother's corpse, unmoving. Her wails giving way to silent sobs.
"I'm sorry." She eventually spoke.
"I couldn't make it in time and now you're gone." She said between sobs.
(One had to wonder what would happen if she knew that she had created this crazy phenomenon or at least had a hand in it)
Slowly getting her wits together, she stood up drunkenly. She then lifted her mother's body and made her way outside.
Placing it down in the porch she went back inside and continued searching.
