Chapter 1 - End of the lifespan

In the Clarity Sky Forge Sect, a certain old man with long silver hair was sitting down on a chair while drinking tea. He was an outer elder of the sect, famous for having a huge number of disciples.

Throughout his life, he had traveled across the whole continent before he settled down in his current sect and took in disciples.

Now, reaching the end of his lifespan, Du Zhuhui was prepared for it.

He looked at his 100th disciple. A child who was not even 7 years old yet. After his death, this disciple of his would probably stay in the sect's care without a master.

"Sigh... Time flies really fast."

If he didn't make any mistake in his cultivation 5 years ago, he would have broken through his bottle neck in his cultivation and gain countless more years to live. But now, he only has less than 20 years left to live.

However, that's how life works. Eventually everything will come to an end, and this time his cultivation reached its final destination together with his life.

For the remaining years of his life, he wanted to at least help his 100th disciple reach a realm that could help him survive in the sect.

After all, once he died, his disciple might be treated unfairly inside the sect without a backing.

His position isn't that high in the sect, the only thing that made him different from other Elders is that he got himself 100 disciples.

Though this wasn't normal, it wasn't like he was the first one to have a huge amount of disciples. But despite having that amount of disciples, they just became ordinary cultivators in this world. None of his disciples were geniuses that made name for themselves.

"Master! Look at this! I reached level 100 in this game."

His 100th disciple, Ji Yichen, showed him his tablet.

"Yichen, I told you to cultivate! Why are you playing games?"

Ji Yichen was disappointed that his master's reaction was different from what he expected. He put down his tablet and looked at the floor.

"But... Cultivation is boring..."

Seeing the disappointed look on his disciple, Du Zhuhui let out a sigh and carried Ji Yichen on his lap.

"Ji Yichen... We are in a world of cultivation. Even if things are at peace now, there are still threats in our life... Let me look at your game."

Hearing that his master started to get interested in his game, Ji Yichen returned to his enthusiastic self.

"Here master..."

Ji Yichen showed his master a RPG game, and in the game his character was a female dress in violet princess dress.

Du Zhuhui was shocked with what he just saw, he looked back and forth between the screen and his disciple.

"Ji Yichen, are you perhaps like your senior brother—"

Du Zhuhui couldn't finish his sentence because Ji Yichen interrupted him.

"Isn't she cute? I want to have a wife like her!"

Heaving a sigh of relief, Du Zhuhui supported Ji Yichen in this matter.

"As long as you are happy..."

***

Cough, cough.

Looking at the amount of blood he let out, Du Zhuhui let out a pitiful smile for himself.

He really pitied himself. Even after sending letters to his 99 disciples, no one replied to him.

He looked towards his disciple, busy playing with his tablet.

"Sigh, why does he like playing with his tablet too much? Maybe I shouldn't have brought him to the mortal realm."

The tablet of Ji Yichen was a product from the mortal realm, it was something used for entertainment.

Ring! Ring!

Hearing the bell of his gate ringing, Du Zhuhui looked towards who it was with the intercom screen.

"Oh, it's Elder Xu Jiyang."

Knowing that it was an elder he was close with, Du Zhuhui pressed a button in the intercom in order to open the gate.

Waiting for Elder Xu Jiyang to come, he called Ji Yichen.

"Yichen! Elder Xu Jiyang will be here soon. Come here beside me to greet him!"

"Later master, let me finish this game!"

Face palming himself at the reply of his disciple, Du Zhuhui just let him be.

He is just a child after all, when he becomes older he will realize the true importance of Cultivation.

Opening the door to welcome Elder Xu Jiyang, Du Zhuhui guides him to sit on the couch in the living room.

The first thing that Elder Xu Jiyang noticed was Ji Yichen sitting on the floor near the couch while playing.

"It seems that even your disciple got addicted to playing the tablet. New recruits this year would spend most of their time playing rather than cultivating."

"The new generation don't know the importance of Cultivation yet, just let them enjoy it for now. When they grow older they will know."

"Hopefully..."

Briefly talking about the increase of the new generation getting addicted to playing tablets, they soon started talking about serious stuff.

"I received an email coming from your... Err... 17th or 18th disciple, I don't remember but anyway—from one of your disciples. He told me that he will be coming back to the sect together with his Dao Companion."

Knowing that one of his disciples will be coming back, Du Zhuhui was happy. But there was something he didn't understand.

"What's an email?"

Hearing that the two elders were talking about email, Ji Yichen went to his master and showed him what an email was.

"Here master! Look, these are emails!"

As soon as the two looked down at the tablet, the two elders saw that there were countless unread emails.

"Oh, you did have an email. Your disciple was talking about how you didn't reply to their emails. But it seems like this little Ji Yichen prevented you from reading them."

Du Zhuhui took the tablet from Ji Yichen's hand and started reading each email one by one.

Fearing that his master didn't know how to read the email, Ji Yichen helped him.

"Du Zhuhui, you need to explore more about the crafts of the mortals. Otherwise you will get behind on time."

Du Zhuhui didn't respond to Elder Xu Jiyang. He was still busy reading each of the emails.

[Master, why did you send me a letter? Because the owl messenger messed up, the letter was soaked wet when it arrived in my abode.]

[Master, I told you to use email to contact me. Now that letter got burned when my pet yawned.]

[😭😭😭 master😭😭😭 wait for me!!!! I will be back before you die!!!!😭😭😭]

[mstr, wdym?] (Master, what do you mean?)

[Noppoo! Massdddterrr!] (No! Master!)

"What the heck is this? Why are my disciples talking like this? And what does W. D. Y. M. mean?"

Curious about what Du Zhuhui was talking about, Elder Xu Jiyang went and looked at the screen.

"Oh, those are slang words. It means 'What do you mean?'— Seriously, old Du. You need to expose yourself more in the world of technology."

"It's okay. I'm good. At least I know that my disciples received the letters I sent them."

Buzz, Buzz.

When the phone of Elder Xu Jiyang vibrated, he took it out from his pocket in order to read the received message.

"Elder Du Zhuhui, it seems like your disciple has just arrived. I must say, he is quite fast. He must be staying near the sect."

"Yeah, he is staying in the city next to us, Forge City. His Dao Companion is the daughter of the city Lord."

Elder Xu Jiyang stroked his beard as he let out a hum of agreement. Then he looked down on Ji Yichen, busy with his tablet.

"Ji Yichen, you will finally meet one of your senior brothers. Are you excited?"

Hearing that his senior brother would be coming soon, Ji Yichen jumped in joy.

"Yehey! I finally got to meet one of my senior brothers!"

He gave his tablet to his Master and left the two elders talking to each other to go back in his room to change his clothes.

"Look at that little guy, he will only move if it was his senior disciples coming. He even left his beloved tablet here!"

"Kids tend to like their brothers and sisters more than us old people. Hahaha!"

Letting out a small laugh, Elder Xu Jiyang slapped his bulging stomach.

Stroking his stomach, he wondered why all Elder Du Zhuhui's disciples suddenly left him a few years ago. However, if the person involved didn't want to talk about it, he didn't dare to ask anything related to it.

After all, meddling on other people's business is not part of his integrity.

When Ji Yichen came out of his room with his cultivation robe, he first went to his Master in order to get his tablet back.

"Master! Give me my tablet! I want to take a picture with me and senior brother later."

Letting out a sigh, Du Zhuhui handed Ji Yichen the tablet.

"Ji Yichen, always remember to cultivate. If you don't break through to the Body Essence Realm this month, I will destroy that tablet."

Terrified at the idea of having his tablet destroyed, Ji Yichen hugged it tightly in his arms and when he was about to throw a tantrum, when the door suddenly opened.

"Master!"

Coming in was his 17th disciple. He was a tall middle aged looking man with an average body built.

Behind him was a pretty woman, however, if a person would take a closer look at her face they would notice a thick makeup trying to hide the dark spots in her skin.

As a cultivator with countless experiences, Du Zhuhui was able to notice it immediately. But he chose to remain silent and didn't dwell much on it.

"Senior Brother!"

This was the first Ji Yichen ever met one among his senior brothers and sisters so he was happy to finally meet one.

"Master! Is what you said in the letter true? Are you really going to die?"

Even after getting himself a Dao Companion, it seems like his 17th disciple didn't change. He was still the same old Wen Zhexi.
