After Mr. Broman's mathematics class ended, Ms. Ostling took over as homeroom teacher and talked with the students in the class for about half an hour. She discussed upcoming events and reminded the students about their homework assignments. Wilhelm listened attentively, taking notes in his planner to make sure he wouldn't forget anything.
Finally, Ms. Ostling dismissed the class, and Wilhelm gathered his things and headed out. He knew he had to pick up Nathaniel from kindergarten by 3 p.m., so he hurried to the school's entrance.
As he walked, he thought about his plans for the rest of the day. After picking up Nathaniel, he would have to go home and have dinner with Grandma. Then, he would spend the evening doing his homework and studying for upcoming tests.
As he arrived at the kindergarten, he saw Nathaniel running towards him with a big smile on his face. "Wilhelm, you're here!" Nathaniel said, hugging his older brother tightly.
Wilhelm smiled, feeling happy to see his little brother. "Hey, Nathaniel. How was your day?" he asked, ruffling Nathaniel's hair.
Nathaniel grinned. "It was great! We did finger painting today, and I made a picture of a dinosaur," he said, showing Wilhelm the painting.
Wilhelm looked at the painting, feeling impressed. "Wow, that's amazing, Nathaniel! You're really good at art," he said, feeling proud of his little brother.
As they walked home, Wilhelm asked Nathaniel about his day, listening intently as Nathaniel told him about his friends and the activities they did in class. Once they arrived home, they greeted Grandma and sat down for dinner.
As they ate, Wilhelm told Grandma about his day and his plans for the evening. "I have a lot of homework to do tonight, so I'll be studying for most of the evening," he said, feeling a sense of responsibility.
Grandma nodded, understanding. "That's good, Wilhelm. It's important to work hard and do well in school," she said, smiling at him.
Mr. Broman's math class was finished. Now it was time for Ms. Ostling to take over as homeroom teacher and chat a bit with the class. She told them about things that were coming up and also reminded the class of their homework assignments. Wilhelm listened carefully and made notes in his planner so he wouldn't forget anything.
Finally, Ms. Ostling excused the class, and Wilhelm packed up to leave. He recalled that he had to collect Nathaniel from kindergarten no later than 3 p.m. and strode toward the exit of the school.
He walked along, planning out the rest of his day: picking up Nathaniel, going home, dinner with Grandma, homework, and studying during the evening.
Wilhelm's eyes fell upon Nathaniel, running to meet him just as he entered the kindergarten compound, a bright smile on his face. "Wilhelm you are here!" Nathaniel said with a tight hug for his elder brother.
Wilhelm smiled. His little brother seemed happy, which made Wilhelm happy too. "Hey, Nathaniel. How was your day?" he asked, ruffling Nathaniel's hair.
Nathaniel looked elated "It was amazing! Today we finger painted. I made drawing of dinosaur" he said. Then the boy showed up painting for Wilhelm to see.
Wilhelm took painting from his brother. He seemed impressed. "Wow! That's quite wonderful, Nathaniel" he said. "You're incredibly good at sketching."
On their way back home, Wilhelm prompted Nathaniel to speak of his day. He allowed the younger boy ramble about his classroom friends and school happenings.
They got back home. Grandmother was at home to greet them. They sat at the table for dinner.
As they ate, Wilhelm described his day and his evening plans to Grandma. "I've got a lot of homework tonight, so I'm just gonna sit down and study most of the evening," he said, trying to sound responsible.
Grandma nodded comprehendingly. "That's good, Wilhelm. You work hard and do well at school," she said, smiling at him.
Wilhelm returned the smile; he could feel the great, helpful support from his family. Indeed, he felt that with his family at his back, he could do anything.
