Chapter 12 - An Extreme Evil Spirit

Supernatural events in this world differ from any other place you go; one is more irregular than the other. However, many of them have a certain regularity in terms of occurrences.

In some cases, the evil spirits tormenting the living always have a cause and effect for why their behavior is malicious. At the same time, their appearance and possession are not unfounded. Compared to demons that come directly from hell and have their own bodies, evil spirits persisting in the world of the living are inherently weaker and need to go through three globally known stages before they can fully possess humans and control their bodies and consciousness.

These stages can be described as follows:

Initiation Stage: Humans come into contact with a dark territory or zone, triggering the appearance of one or many evil spirits. Once marked, it's time for the evil spirit to appear. Initially, it starts making subtle noises, understandable whispers, and footsteps, pulls on the victim's body, and begins draining positive energy.

Torment Stage: In this stage, the cursed spirit wears down its victim. Ordinary people tend to have little patience and wonder when the invisible entity in their house will stop. What is the true fear they might face? In his past life, Anton would have been afraid because if you can't fight something you can't touch, you're likely to lose that battle.

Possession Stage: In the third stage, the evil spirit aims for possession. The information revealed in the three tests given by Ed Warren makes it clear that this evil spirit is about to enter the possession stage. Knowing how strong it is, there's no time to waste. If this process is complete, it means the evil spirit will take control of the victim's consciousness, and in simple terms, the controlled person's life will be in danger of death.

"Even though you are recognized by the church and the Light Association, you must go to the church headquarters to request an exorcism license. But given the situation, there is no time to lose." Anton maintained his composure, as if what was happening was not a big surprise to him.

"Are you sure about that?" Ed Warren didn't believe he was contacting an ordinary priest.

"I am an exorcist priest, Mr. Warren. I have the authority to do it for the safety of the victims, so it's better to take action immediately."

Anton's response was sincere; as a ShadowBane, he had the authority and right to perform any exorcism without authorization.

[Mission in progress]

Class: Elimination of Medium/Exorcism

Request:

Reward: +10 strength points, +5 spirit points, +10,000 faith points.

While Anton spoke with Ed Warren, he heard that sudden mechanical sound, and soon the mission panel appeared in front of his eyes, acknowledging the mission. This meant he would receive rewards for his intervention, and it seemed like such a high reward would put him in a very favorable position.

"I'll take this mission..." Anton could refuse missions directly since he wasn't obligated to accept them, but this time was different. He couldn't ignore a mission because he wasn't in this world to play. He had been sent to this parallel world for a mission, so he would rest until he believed he had fulfilled his goal.

At the same time, Ed's surprised voice came from the phone. "Priest Anton, it would be fantastic if you could come as soon as possible. The address is on a farm; you'd better jot it down.

After writing down the address on a wooden box, he stood up, and seeing Rafael in the distance, he pointed to the mess on the ground. Rafael, seeing Anton so serious, thought something bad had happened, so as he approached, he immediately changed his expression to solemn and began carefully cleaning up all these objects.

While Anton headed to a room where he had changed clothes a moment ago, he asked, "Is your wife with you?"

"Yes, Lorraine is by my side." At the moment he answered, a few minutes later, a female voice sounded: "Priest Anton, I'm listening."

"Everyone in these circles recognizes your abilities, but with personal experience, I want to tell you that this time you are not dealing with a weak evil spirit." Anton looked at his hand, which was dark due to the recorder explosion, so he warned, "The only thing you can do is stay on the sidelines and wait for my arrival; if you get involved more than you can handle, you will die."

"Yes, Priest Anton..." Lorraine understood what Anton meant, so she responded positively.

"If there is any danger, just hold a cross or an object with positive energy." Anton said as he put on his Exorcist Priest outfit again and put on his boots.

"But don't worry; until that evil spirit possesses a human in that house, no one will die."

"Then we'll wait."

After hanging up the call, Anton looked at Rafael and said, "Let's go, but first take me home; we need more equipment."

"What kind of spirit?" Rafael asked as they walked towards the car.

Anton frowned and said, "Very strong, maybe even extreme."

"Is it permitted?"

"I don't need permission."

Maybe this would be a problem for someone else, but he is Anton ShadowBone, who, according to many, will take over his father's position in the future. Leaving the place, Anton made a call: "This is Priest Anton ShadowBane; I'll take a job on the outskirts, so I'll be absent for a few days. In general terms, the presence of light agents is not needed."

"What is your confirmation code?"

Anton sighed and said, "One, ninety, eighty-nine, three, zero."

In this world, the Light Association was something like a very powerful organization that controlled the entire dark world. With funding from world governments, their job is to eliminate any dark being, no matter where they are.

"We've arrived, sir!" Rafael said as he parked the vehicle.

"Do you have your uniform?"

"Yes, sir!"

Anton nodded and said, "Go in and prepare two coffees; we'll have a long journey."

While both entered the house, Anton walked towards the basement once again to get more weapons. In normal situations, to eliminate a spirit that has not yet possessed a body, there is no need to exorcise something that is not in a human body.

For someone like Anton, the best means available are holy bullets made of silver and salt. And what better than his Parker A-1 Special shotgun from Tsar Nicholas II, an exact but improved replica of this weapon that, in his memories, was a gift from his parents?

Having to use modified bullets, shotguns were the best for dealing with both physical and non-corporeal monsters.

Of course, Anton would carry other things, like his light sword, which he only used in extreme cases as it disturbed him a lot to use it.

Anton, who had taken the shotgun, walked towards a showcase where there was a row of special bullets. He took about thirty bullets, and after placing them in the shotgun's breech, he loaded it with a pull.

"Well, let's go spirit hunting." Anton murmured with a wide smile.
