Chapter 13 - On the Way

Deciding to use a double-barreled shotgun with silver decorations, Anton made sure it was in good condition and walked towards other shelves to grab a few more things. For silver bullets, those weren't necessary to carry since they knew the type of evil spirit they were dealing with, so he went directly to grab only salt.

Knowing he had chosen the right weapon, he walked to a shelf and put on a vest to carry the bullets. He concluded that maybe thirty bullets were too few, so he decided to take fifty more. In terms of quantity, he wouldn't use special bullets to attack humans, so he would only carry special ones. For normal situations, pistols are always better, so he made sure to bring a simple revolver because that weapon would never jam on him.

This choice reflected Anton's clear means against mistakes; he didn't want to be in any kind of dangerous situation during any mission to eliminate any dark entity. Additionally, since he didn't want to be the only one with weapons, he brought an extra shotgun for Rafael, who would be his right-hand man from now on. Having an assistant is indeed better, so he would use it wisely.

In an instant, Anton exited the underground storage with large bags, some bigger than others, on his back and hands. He looked at Rafael, who immediately helped him carry these bags to the car.

"From dust we come, and to dust we shall return." Anton murmured as he closed the house completely to prevent anyone from entering without his permission.

As for his trees, he would make sure someone from the church came to water them if they needed water. Also, now that he thinks about it, he should set up an automatic system to give them water whenever needed. There were things he needed to improve, so it was good to always think about many things.

"We won't go in a car; let's take the mammoth truck." Anton handed the keys to Rafael, who was surprised and nodded, knowing it was a better option since they were going to a farm, as he had heard.

In this era, they could very well be in the 2000s compared to their previous world, but technology was much more advanced, striking a strange balance between things that puzzled Anton for some time before getting used to it.

The Mammoth 1000 TRX truck was the best option on the market, and being a 6x6, it was all someone in his situation could demand. The beast that this truck is has no name, so they could easily be in any kind of situation and come out unscathed by driving something like this.

Leaving everything in the back, Anton, who wanted to drive this time, got into the driver's seat and, after setting up the GPS, started the engine.

The Mammoth 1000 TRX was a six-wheeled truck, as black as the night itself.

The nursery, which was a large building, had many more modifications than could be seen at first glance, turning that place into a very special area that was still under improvement.

The events unfolded on a farm located in Harrisville, Rhode Island, and it wasn't far from where Anton currently lived, which surprised him even more.

Harrisville is a small town in the state of Rhode Island, in Wisdom Springs. It is characterized by its rural setting and picturesque landscapes. The community in Harrisville usually enjoys a peaceful and nature-close environment.

Therefore, the distance is not too short but not too far either; at least, it would take about four hours of travel. To prevent evil spirits from reaching the last phase, the important thing is to eliminate them as soon as possible and confine them to the area where they reside.

On the way, occasionally, both were inspected, but Anton had a very high identity, so his identification was absolutely terrifying, which didn't get them into trouble for carrying weapons.

This identification even gave him immunity for murder, something that very few know because it is extremely classified for exorcist priests. The Light Association took care of all these issues in negotiations with the government, so sometimes they have even more authority than ignorant politicians.

This was the third time they were stopped, and he hoped it would be the last, so after handing over the documents, the police officer said, "Priest, I wish you a safe journey."

Anton nodded and said, "May your good deeds bear fruit from your guardians."

The officer nodded and saluted with a gesture.

In such circumstances, Anton shortened the journey that originally took three or four hours to two hours.

Somewhere in the small town of Harrisville.

A series of cars were parked outside a gloomy-looking house, each clearly scattered and without a clear order when parking them. A couple leaned against the wall, looking calm and relaxed. Another couple with tired faces stood next to the door. The man was hugging his wife, and the remaining two men were sitting in front of the door. On the steps, he was waiting with a bored look on his face.

"Mr. Ed, I trust your words, but didn't it seem strange to you that this priest arrived so quickly? The church is not usually so attentive to these cases, which they mostly consider false," questioned Brad Hamilton, a police officer from the Harrisville Police Department. His question echoed the concerns of many.

"The Light Association immediately put us in contact with a qualified priest. It's known that this association is much more involved in exorcism cases."

"Everything will be fine..."

The Perron couple next to the door had simple and honest faces, but there were traces of having worked very hard in life. The man looked at Ed, who was casually leaning against the wall, and his temperament was obviously better.

"Uh... I remember you saying that exorcism is a very ancient ritual that requires many years of experience. Is the priest you're talking about such a person?" Roger finally asked.

Upon hearing this, Ed looked at Roger, who had a gentle temperament and an expression of never having harmed anyone in his life, so he nodded in response to this question.

"Yes, you can be totally sure of it... A person who has participated in the largest exorcisms in history recommended him to me. I didn't think we would be so lucky to have someone qualified, but when I found out he's a ShadowBane, I knew this was in the right hands."

"That's great..." Roger, the head of the Perron family who was affected by the evil spirit, softened his expression.

Ed smiled kindly when he saw this. As an expert in paranormal phenomena, he knew how much pressure Roger, who was the man of this affected family, was under and that he couldn't do anything to keep them safe.

As far as he knew, this house was bought by Roger's family with all their savings, and they could no longer afford to move, besides it being futile. Once an evil spirit marks you, the bond will be inseparable unless it fulfills its goal.

"Fortunately, a priest offered to come in person." Carolyn was Roger's wife, and she seemed calmer knowing that a priest was on the way.

Carolyn, who seemed to be able to sense what her husband was thinking, looked at him and silently grabbed his large hand.

At the same time, feeling the strength in the union of that couple, Ed was glad that this couple was very strong, as not everyone would have the same optimism in this situation.

Just as he was about to say something, he heard the sound of the car engine in his ears.

Vroom!!!

Not only Ed, but everyone heard the roar of the engine.

Then, at the end of the road, an imposing six-wheeled truck appeared in front of them.

"The priest is here!" There was surprise on Ed's face. Before anyone could react, he led his wife Lorraine to an open space in front of the stairs to welcome the priest, who had responded to their calls.

Roger, who had regained his senses, also took his wife's hand and walked towards the Warrens. He looked at the extravagant truck and soon saw a man getting out of the passenger seat.

"Mr. Ed, is this the priest Anton you spoke of?"

"No, he should be the driver." Ed's eyes fixed on a young man, and he was surprised by the appearance of that priest, who was much younger than he had imagined.

"His aura is very bright, more than anyone else has ever had." Lorraine murmured, looking at Anton, who had descended from the truck.

Anton had seen the Warren couple and the others, so he nodded to them.

"I should get myself a female assistant." Anton murmured, earning a confused look from Rafael. Had he done something wrong?

"You must be the Warrens."

"I'm Ed, and this is my wife Lorraine."

Anton extended his hand, if not before taking off one of his black gloves, and greeted them. "Nice to meet you."

While Anton was greeting, Rafael took the suitcases out of the truck.

"It seems that the situation is calmer than I imagined."

As soon as he said this, Lorraine smiled. "Events happen at three in the morning, so not much has happened for now."

Speaking of which, Lorraine didn't forget to introduce the person behind her: "Priest Anton, let me introduce you. These are Roger and Carolyn Perron, the owners of this house."

Roger looked at the priest in front of him, dressed in black robes and unusually clean-looking. He didn't know why, but he felt safe in his presence, so with gratitude in his gaze, he said, "Priest, thank you for coming."

Seeing the look of relief in Roger's eyes, Anton especially looked at the woman named Carolyn and the dark surroundings around her, so he shook her hand.

"It's my job."

Carolyn, too, extended her thin hand gratefully and said with a thankful voice, "Thank you for coming, Priest."

There were some marks on Carolyn's hand; Anton pretended not to see them and gently squeezed her hand, smiling softly.

"Now that I'm here, I'll take care of any evil tormenting your family."
