???: "You guys seriously gonna start without me?"
The three looked over to the entrance of the practice room where someone was standing. The 18 year old , and a member of class 3-A (year 3, class 1) and the final member of the group Warin Dove. Warin, unlike the other three, does not have that much muscle on him. He is skinny, but he stands at 6 foot which makes up for the scrawny appearance. His short and curly blonde hair is complimented by his bright blue eyes.
Warin: "Surely you all wouldn't forget about me!" He said as he walked over to the center where the other three were located.
Rhys: "No, no, we were just warming up. To be fair you are usually late." He had an annoyed look on his face.
Dawn and Elias proceed to nod in agreement.
Warin: "Whatever, Rhys. I'm here now, and I've already changed. Let's get started."
Warin would grab another wooden katana before joining the others in the center once again. The four liked to meet up after school everyday in order to utilize the free practice room so they could hone their sword skills. The sparring usually consisted of Dawn paired up with Warin, and Rhys paired with Elias, Dawn and Rhys being more skilled than their sparring partners.
Dawn: "Alright Warin, lets go."
Warin: "Today is the day I beat you, Dawn Carter." He had a determined look on his face as he leapt forward at Dawn.
As Warin leapt forward, he swung his blade with intent to connect with Dawn's dominant arm. The rule the four had set into place was that in order to win one must strike their opponent on their dominant arm, which in Dawn's case was his right arm. As Warin's blade got closer to Dawn, Dawn weaved to the left so that he had enough space to intercept the oncoming blade with his own.
Dawn: "Nice opening, put some more power behind your swing next time!" He said as Warin's blade bounced off of his own.
Warin clenched his teeth as he took a quick defensive stance. The collision knocked off his balance just enough so that Dawn could make an opening for himself to strike Warin's left arm. Instead, Dawn stood back to inspect Warin's stance.
Dawn: "Not bad. Your defense is getting a lot better, Warin. I suggest the space in between your feet should be a little wider."
Warin: "Shit, okay." He then began to correct himself.
As Warin started to focus on his stance, Dawn took advantage of the fact that Warin had lowered his guard, and took this chance to strike his left arm. Dawn was successful.
Warin: "SHIT! I should have known you would try to outsmart me... again." His face clearly reflected his feeling of defeat.
Dawn: "I was not lying about your stance, but also remember that you should always focus on everything when fighting. Allowing your guard to drop for a second lead to your defeat. If my blade was real, you'd be missing an arm."
*The other side of the practice room*
As the spar between Warin and Dawn had started, so had the one between Rhys and Elias. Elias was a bit shorter than Rhys, so this led to him having both a disadvantage and an advantage.
Rhys: "Elias, you need to be faster!" He said before moving himself directly in front of Elias to block his path.
Elias: "No, you're just too fast!" He let out a sigh as his path was blocked.
Rhys then swung, directing his blade at Elias' right arm. Elias did not react in time to block the blade, but he was barely able to dodge due to his advantage in being closer to the ground.
Rhys: "Nice dodge, but make it faster."
Elias was the type to get annoyed quickly, although he was trying hard, it always seemed like he wasn't trying hard enough. He then put all his might into a swing just for it to be completely blocked by Rhys.
Rhys: "Your swings are starting to have more power behind them." He smirked as he then pivoted on his left foot to make an opening for himself.
Elias' eyes followed Rhys, anticipating his next movement.
Elias: I've got to be faster dammit!
Elias started to react before Rhys even made his next movement, going for a block to intercept what he thought would be a swing directed at his arm. Instead Rhys was already moving to the adjacent side. Rhys found an opening. He jabbed his blade through the gap between Elias' arms, poking his dominant arm. Rhys had won.
Elias: "You've got to be shitting me.."
Rhys: "C'mon. You have to anticipate every possible move your opponent can make, not just the first one your mind thinks of." He said as he chuckled at Elias' statement.
Elias: "You're just too damn good, Rhys-Sensei~." He then let out another sigh.
Warin: "You get beat again too?"
Warin and Dawn had now started to approach Elias and Rhys after their spar concluded.
Elias: "Yeah, but Rhys said my attacks had more strength behind them!" He said as if to boast the compliment he'd been given.
Warin: "Oh yeah? Well Dawn said my-"
Rhys smacked both of their heads.
Rhys: "You both lost. Don't focus on our compliments, focus on our criticism and beat us next time."
Dawn: "Besides, now you get to watch and learn." He looked at Rhys.
Rhys: "Let's do this!" He took his stance, facing Dawn.
Dawn then took his stance facing Rhys.
Warin: "Great, now we get to watch them show off and do things we will never be able to do." He said in a sarcastic tone.
Elias: "I, for one, enjoy watching Rhys-Sensei spar." As he spoke, something caught his eye in the entrance.
Warin noticed this too.
???: "You guys are pathetic."
All four of them would now look to the entrance.
Dusan: "If you keep sparring against each other, are you really going to learn anything?"
The 18 year old from class 3-A (year 3, class 1), fellow classmate to Warin Dove and Son of Solart Cities' very own Chief, Oliver Kauko. Dusan is in the top 3 of the students' ranking due to his intelligence and athletic ability. Many refer to him as the "Golden Boy''. As a result of his athleticism he is well built with a slender and muscular, 6'2 body. His long and thick brown hair is paired with his dark green eyes and dark brown eyebrows. He has a pointy nose along with full lips, and a sharp jawline.
Rhys: "What the hell could you possibly want, Dickhead?" Rhys relaxed his stance, turning towards Dusan.
Dawn did the same.
Dusan: "I came to retrieve my bag that I left down here, I just so happened to bump into the four of you by chance. I wish I had just decided to forget about my bag." He then walked over to collect the bag he was talking about.
Rhys: "Can't you say something nice for once? I have a feeling I know why your girlfriend broke up with you." He snickered.
Dusan scoffed as he picked up his bag, then started to walk back to the entrance. Warin and Elias chuckled at Rhys' comment, but Dawn simply watched Dusan.
Rhys: "Did I get it right? Did Nadia actually break up with you because you're a dickhead?"
Dawn: "Rhys... c'mon man-""
Rhys: "Are you seriously defending him Dawn? He is an asshole to us for no reason."
Dusan: "There is a reason. You are all pathetic." He said as he walked off down the hall.
Rhys began to follow Dusan, but Dawn stopped him.
Dawn: "Just because he's a jerk doesn't mean we need to be jerks as well." He let go of Rhys.
Warin and Elias looked back and forth between Dawn and Rhys, then to each other, and back to Rhys.
Rhys: "You know what. You're right Dawn." He let out a deep breath followed by a smile. "I'm sorry for getting a little too triggered. His I'm better than everyone just because I'm the Chief's son attitude just pisses me off."
Elias: "You should kick his ass!"
Dawn then smacked Elias' head.
Elias: "Sorry!"
Warin: "It is best we avoid starting any real problems with him. I'm not really trying to get a talking to from the dean, much less Chief Kauko."
Elias nodded in agreement, as did Dawn.
Rhys: "It's not like I'm just going to pick a fist fight with him. I'm smarter than that."
Elias: "Because you totally weren't about to follow him so you could punch him-"
Rhys smacked Elias on the head... again.
Elias: "Cut the head smackage out for the love of the gods." He sounded annoyed, but part of him really didn't care too much.
Rhys: "Well after that I'm a little annoyed. I think I'm gonna head home for the day. Are you coming with, Dawn?"
Dawn: "Sure! It is always nice to visit with your family."
Warin: "How is Margit doing by the way?" He looked at Rhys, eagerly waiting for his response.
Rhys: "My sister is not interested in blondes. She specifically told me herself." Rhys glared at Warin.
Warin: "O-Okay! Noted!" His voice cracked as he spoke.
The four then headed back into the changing room after racking their katana's. After an interrupted practice, they were all a bit annoyed and out of their mood to practice. The four then walked to the front of the building, Elias and Warin walking off one way, Dawn and Rhys the other.
