Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: The Sharpe Family

Solart City is made up of three sections, the Lower Third, the Middle Second, and the Upper First. The Middle Second is where Solart's Academy is located, along with most middle class housing. The Lower Third consists of markets and lower-middle class and poor housing, while the Upper First houses the wealthier residents of the city as well as the City Chief.

5:30pm: Solart City, Lower Third

Dawn: "So, you never answered me. What is Mrs. Sharpe preparing for dinner?" Dawn looked to Rhys.

Rhys: "Beats me. She never tells me anything these days. Says she's going to surprise me." He throws his hands behind his head.

Dawn: "Well, whatever it may be, I am excited to eat your mothers cooking again. It really is a treat when I get to eat with you and your family."

Rhys: "Well you know you are always welcome, especially since Mr. Allan and Mrs. Nica are much more occupied these days. Oh and by the way, Margit asks about you all the time. She asks things like 'Will Dawn ever come back to eat' or 'Was Dawn at school today'." Rhys chuckled as he spoke.

Dawn: "She seems to care a lot about what I'm doing. Is she mad at me?"

Rhys: "You'd better hope not. After you missed dinner last week she was pretty pissed. Said she wouldn't welcome you back if you skip again."

Dawn: "You both know I didn't miss dinner on purpose, right?" He raised an eyebrow.

Rhys: "My parents understood, but you know how Margit is."

The two then arrived at a lower middle-class home with a sign on the door that read Home of the Sharpe's. Upon arrival Rhys unlocked the door, leading Dawn into his home. The aroma of a delicious home-cooked meal immediately hit Dawn in the face causing him to smile, one of the very rare smiles he was able to produce.

Rhys: "I'm home, and I brought your favorite son!" Rhys said as he threw his bag into his room.

Mrs. Sharpe: "Is that Dawn?!" Rhys' mother shouted across the house.

As the two walked into the kitchen, Dawn was immediately met with a hug from the 38 year old Mrs. Sharpe. The Sharpe's treated Dawn as if he was their own.

Mrs. Sharpe: "So good to see you Dawn. How are your grades?" She finally let go, standing on her tippy-toes to try and reach Dawn's height.

Rhys: "Gee Mom, you never ask about my grades anymore."

Mrs. Sharpe: "Because I leave that up to your father. Anyways Dawn, are you keeping up with your grades?"

Dawn: "Yes ma'am. I might even have higher grades than Rhys!" Dawn joked.

Rhys snickered as footsteps approached the kitchen. The extremely kind and gentle man known as Mr. Sharpe would enter the kitchen. The 39 year old was an astonishing 6 '5, and was helpful when it came to reaching things nobody else in the house could reach.

Mr. Sharpe: "Hello there, Dawn! Nice of you to join us tonight due to last week's circumstances. We are all glad you're feeling better." He then gave Dawn a quick and fatherly hug of his own.

Mrs. Sharpe: "Yes Dawn, speaking of last week, you got the medicine Margit dropped off for you correct?" She moved back towards the food she was preparing. Her famous katsudon, and Dawn's favorite meal she makes.

Dawn: "Yes, it was very helpful for my recovery. I still need to thank her for dropping it off."

Rhys: "Speaking of Margit, is she even here?"

Mr. Sharpe: "She is currently in the backyard practicing with her katana. All thanks to the both of you, of course."

Rhys and Dawn looked to each other, then back to Mr. Sharpe with an apologetic face.

Mrs. Sharpe: "Why don't you go call her in, dinner is almost ready! I made your favorite, Dawn."

Dawn: "I noticed, thank you very much."

Rhys: "When are you going to make my favorite again?"

Mr. and Mrs. Sharpe: "Be grateful." They spoke in unison.

Rhys: "I know. Why don't you go get Margit, Dawn? I'm sure she will want to speak to you about last week."

Both Mr. and Mrs. Sharpe, as well as Dawn, shuttered at the fact that she might bright her wrath down on all of them for Dawn missing dinner.

Dawn: "S-sure! I will make sure to do my best to bring in a happy Margit!"

Rhys and his parents gave a nod of understanding to wish him good luck on his task.

5:50pm: Sharpe residency backyard

As Dawn made his way into the backyard he soon caught a visual of Margit practicing with her blade. The 17 year old from class 2-A (year 2, class 1) was mirroring the moves she had seen her brother perform, or what Dawn assumed were Rhys' movements. Margit is shorter, only standing at 5'6, but makes up for it with her athletic build. She shares the same dark blue hair that her brother has, as well as the other facial features as they are siblings.

Dawn: "Your balance is looking way better today, Margit!" He said in a cautious tone.

Margit immediately hid her blade behind her back and turned to Dawn as her face turned red like a strawberry.

Margit: "You are not supposed to sneak up on girls like that, Dawn."

Dawn: "Well I really didn't know of any other way to get your attention, plus I meant what I said. Your balance is looking a lot better than it was 2 weeks ago."

Margit: "Well thank you, I wasn't sure if you'd actually make it tonight. You know that you are in trouble for skipping last week, right?"

Dawn: "Well in my defense I was sick-"

Margit: "We could have taken care of you so you didn't have to be alone. I would have made sure you were feeling better so that you and Rhys could have started practicing again sooner." She turned her face to the side, sticking her nose up.

Dawn: "Well let me apologize. I did not want to get any of you sick, that is why I stayed away. I am sorry, Margit." He said with a sigh. He did not like disappointing people.

Margit then looked at him again.

Margit: "You are forgiven. Next time you get sick, rely on us. Especially if Nica isn't home."

Nica and Allan Cusnir were the current guardians of Dawn, in place of his mother and father who both tragically passed 10 years ago.

Dawn: "I will. Thank you for forgiving me. Dinner is ready by the way, I came out here to let you know."

Margit: "Oh great! It's katsudon night!" She then racked her blade, walking up to Dawn as they both made it back inside.

6:30pm: Sharpe residency kitchen table

Rhys: "Man I am stuffed. I don't know how your cooking can get better every single time Mom." He stated as he placed both of his hands on his stomach.

Mrs. Sharpe: "It's called love, my son." She said proudly.

Mr. Sharpe: "Your mother has always been the best cook that Solart has to offer!" He leaned in to kiss his wife's cheek.

Margit: "Was it good for you, Dawn?"

Dawn: "It was perfect. I'm sad it's gone."

Mrs. Sharpe: "Well that just means you'll have to come back for more!"

Mr. Sharpe: "You're always welcome Dawn, we always have room for you at our table."

Margit and Rhys both nod in agreement.

Dawn: "Thank you all, really, I don't even know if Allan and Nica are home tonight, so it was nice to eat with a family."

Margit: "Your family." She said to correct him.

Rhys: "Well dinner was great, but I am sure Dawn needs to head home to get some rest. After all, he practiced hard today, and we have that final exam to study for." He let out a groan as he finished his sentence.

Dawn: "As much as I hate to leave, I really should get going." He stood up, taking his dishes to the sink in order to wash them.

Mrs. Sharpe: "Dawn if you so much as turn on the faucet I'll kill you."

Dawn: "Yes Ma'am!"

Mr. Sharpe: "Alright everyone, let's let Dawn get on home. We enjoyed having you, make sure to let us know how you do on your exam next week."

Dawn gave Mr. Sharpe a nod as he walked to the front door to put on his shoes.

Margit: "If you need help studying let me know and I will come help you." She said with a small blush on her face.

Rhys: "You are a whole year below us, how could you even help him?"

Margit: "Mind your own business Rhys. I'm in class 2-A, you're in class 3-B."

Rhys: "So is Dawn-"

Margit: "Shut up, asshole."

Mr. Sharpe: "Hey you guys, knock it off!"

Mrs. Sharpe walked to Dawn at the front door as the commotion started in the background.

Mrs. Sharpe: "It was a pleasure having you over Dawn, why don't you get out of here before things get wild." She said with a nervous tone.

Dawn: "G-good idea! Thanks for having me."

Rhys started to chase Margit with dirty clothes in the background as Mr. Sharpe tried to stop him. While this was happening, Dawn made his way back out onto the street, walking towards his home further on down the path.

7:00pm: Cusnir Residency

Dawn finally made it back to his home, and as he walked to the door he noticed the lights were on inside meaning that his hosts were in fact home this time. As Dawn entered the home he went into his room, placing his bag on the floor. He then walked out into the family room where he found Nica and Allan sitting on the couch.

Dawn: "I'm home."
