Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Prologue Part 1

High in the Mountains , on a planet only a few know of, a small village of around 30 people lived. This was the home to a group of people whose history goes back almost to the start of time. This group of people are known as Epsilon, wielders of a powerful force called Ukiyo. Ukiyo is the center of all life, the will of nature to be exact. Throughout time Epsilon have honed their mastery of Ukiyo, and gone on to practice their skills in combat with hand and blade. Many members of the Epsilon group throughout history have become some of the strongest, and most formidable fighters alive.

The Current year is 731PM (Post-Migration). After human-kind discovered space travel and space exploration, many members of the human race decided to start colonizing planets, and eventually started to move between different galaxies, colonizing them as well. This was known as the Great Migration. In current day Epsilon culture it is important that the new generation constantly honor the past generations. December 1st is the yearly celebration of life in Epsilon Culture. The current Epsilon village, led by Sin, assisted by his best friends Gotz Eborsar and Yoshihiro Ravencroft, was preparing for its festival.

Gotz Eborsar is a frail young man, only 25 years of age. His skin is pale, and his hair short and red. With eyes that gleam a bright golden yellow, and a 4'11 frame, he proudly leads the village. His right-hand man, Sin, is the polar opposite. While Gotz is short and frail, Sin is 6 '1 and very well cut, with a slim figure. His silky, long white hair complements his ghostly gray eyes, and the man can use a sword better than anyone else, while his frail counterpart can outsmart every other person around. The third, Yoshihiro Ravencroft, is of above average height with a generous amount of muscle. His golden blonde hair is of medium length, and his eyes a dark red. His strength is, well, his strength. He outclasses most when it comes to raw power, and can use a sword pretty well too. The three have held a sparring exhibit for members of the Epsilon group to show off their strength every festival, and this year is no exception. Although on this specific December 1st, Yoshihiro had something to prove.

"Yoshihiro Ravencroft, versus, Sin!" An Epsilon shouts as the two walk into a small circle lined with rocks to outline a border. The two men, Sin being 19 years of age, and Yoshihiro of 20, stare at each other, preparing for their first spar in 2 months. This was a long time for the two, as they were used to sparring seriously at least once a week. A few seconds after speaking, the Epsilon clapped, signaling the start of the match. Instantaneously the two young men darted at each other. Sin quickly took the upper-hand by getting a clean kick off on Yoshihiro, in which he lunged down and placed his left hand on the ground and swiveled his whole body around until his right foot made contact with Yoshihiro's cheek. Yoshihiro's face jerked to the left, while being dazed, Sin used it to his own advantage. Now on two feet again he placed his left hand on the back of Yoshihiro's head, slamming it into the ground. Sin did this in exactly 2 seconds, faster than anyone, even Yoshihiro, could react.

Sin stood over Yoshihiro, staring down at him with a look of satisfaction on his face. "I thought you had been training in order to make sure that you finally won this year, Yoshi." Sin intended to give Yoshihiro a hard time like any friend would do, in a joking way of course. Sin did think maybe it was a little rude, but Yoshihiro was used to his playful taunts. After picking himself up off the ground, absolutely humiliated, Yoshihiro started to walk towards the main hall in the center of the village. All of the Epsilon in attendance just stared as he did, unable to figure out how to react to what had just happened. Instead of following after Yoshihiro, Sin decided to give him space, thus walking back to his own personal quarters on the easternmost edge of the village. The rest of the Epsilon continued the festival as planned, sparring with one another and partying to celebrate the holiday.

Gotz was sitting in the main hall at the center of the village, surrounded by several members of the Epsilon group. His role during the celebration of life, now that he is the leader, is to tell the current Epsilon stories of the past as he has access to a giant book that logs back to the very start of Epsilon existence. As Gotz was mid-sentence, Yoshihiro came walking through the doors to the hall. The group gave their attention to Yoshihiro as his presence was not expected since Yoshihiro usually stayed around the fighting ring to watch the sparring matches.

"What brings you to the history lesson Yoshi?" Gotz asked jokingly while eyeing Yoshihiro's face, clearly noticing something seemed off.

"Gotz." Yoshihiro started to speak as he walked to where Gotz was sitting, "Do you think I am weak?"

Gotz now had a puzzled look on his face. "No, not at all. Why do you ask such a question?" Assuming Yoshihiro lost to Sin in their spar, Gotz tried to act clueless because he knew how Yoshihiro acted after losing.

"Why don't you fight me then, You are the leader of the village after all? Am I not important enough for you to concern yourself with?" Clearly blinded by his embarrassing loss to Sin, Yoshihiro was thirsty for the taste of redemption.

"Oh come on Yoshi, you know I am not that skilled in combat.." Gotz let out a nervous laugh, shrinking back into his seat. "Why don't you just sit down and listen to some stories?" He would offer in an attempt to calm Yoshihiro down.

"Stand up Gotz.. you coward." Yoshihiro's tone was cold, and his gaze was piercing into Gotz's mind. "I am tired of being looked down upon."

Gotz, pulling himself out of his seat, was visibly nervous. "What is wrong with you Yoshi? None of us look down on you.. You are one of the strongest fighters in the village!" Gotz exclaimed.

"That is exactly my point. I am only one of the strongest. Nobody would ever think of me over you or Sin." Yoshihiro stated with an annoyed tone.

As Gotz and Yoshihiro moved to the middle of the floor, the small group of Epsilon spectators moved to the side. Once the fight started it was almost immediately one-sided, Yoshihiro had Gotz on the ground in mere seconds. Gotz may be the current leader of the Epsilon, but it is not because of his strength or ability to fight. His brain and leadership capability alone put him above all the other contenders. He is one of the smartest Epsilon to date, and Epsilon are some of the smartest warriors the Universe has to offer. Yoshihiro had Gotz in a fetal position on the floor, his face bloodied and his body bruised. The spectators could not mutter a single word, as they were too afraid to even witness this beat down.

"Why are you doing this, Yoshi..?" Gotz cried out as he was being kicked and stomped on by Yoshihiro, over and over again in what seemed to be an act of dominance.

"To be honest, Gotz, I cannot stand you or Sin. Hell, this whole Epsilon Order, or what's even left of it. This pathetic group of Epsilon pisses me off." He said as he continued to effortlessly beat Gotz with his right foot. "I am ashamed to be labeled as an Epsilon. You and Sin are just hopelessly leading this group, trying to save what is left of what your teachers taught you." As Yoshihiro continued to kick Gotz, he eventually kicked his cervical vertebrae, rendering Gotz unconscious. Yoshihiro would then turn to the spectators, and after a brief moment of unsettling silence, he began to slaughter them one by one.

While sitting in his cabin, Sin was writing a letter addressed to a weapon supplier that often gave quality items to the Epsilon group in return for a cheap price. Sin was a simple man, with every single day came the same routine. Wake up and train, meditate and eat, read, train again, and so on. He needed nothing more and nothing less in order to be content. He did not like change, but as he was writing the closing sentence to his letter a blood curdling scream ripped across the village. He recognized this voice as one of the younger Epsilon nurses. He quickly walked outside of his cabin, blade holstered at the waist, searching for the source. As he walked through the village he navigated through an allotment of familiar faces, now rendered into lifeless corpses staining the snow with their blood. Once arriving at the main hall Sin encountered a paralyzed Gotz lying against a table, surrounded by corpses of their fallen comrades.

"Gotz." Sin called out to his friend, his voice cracking. "What happened here?" He asked as he kneeled in front of Gotz.

Gotz was unable to meet Sin's gaze as he responded. "I-I don't even know." The well-spoken Gotz now had an unfamiliar stutter in his voice. "Yoshihiro just k-killed them all. H-he said he is a-ashamed of us." Gotz was in hysterics.

"I see." Sin said with an uneasy stir in his voice. "I was always afraid of him lashing out, but not to this extent."

Gotz now looked to Sin pitifully. "Y-you're n-not disappointed in me? I c-couldn't stop h-him!"

"This is not your fault... I am afraid it is mine." Sin's voice echoed in Gotz's mind. "This is no place to linger any longer I'm afraid. Let us leave, my friend." Sin said, picking up Gotz's limp body. "We will not let this break our order or our souls. This is the beginning of our future. However it may end, our goal is to rebuild the order, and bring an end to Yoshihiro's life."

With that being said, Sin left the village with Gotz, on a direct path that would lead them to accomplishing their goal. 10 years later, 741PM, the Epsilon Order is now the biggest superpower in the universe. With Sin and Gotz Eborsar leading the order, the Epsilon are more powerful than they have ever been. However, on the other hand, Yoshihiro Ravencroft is now the ruler of the Divine Solace. Essentially the Epsilon reformed into his own vision, Sentinels as he calls them, take on his own teachings and principles. These two superpowers now have most of the universe in a chokehold as they have been at war for 5 years now, currently in a lasting stalemate.
