Chapter 10 - Ch. 10: Vision

(POV: Charles)

"I will make you suffer," said the young man.

The young man approached me with steady steps, his aura of arrogance seeming to envelop him like the wind surrounding his body.

I retreated step by step. My heart was beating fast in fear.

The closer he got with each firm step. It caused me to step back even more in haunting tension.

I pointed the revolver at the young man. My trembling hands tried to hold back the anxiety, causing a small tremor in my grip.

Where is William? Alex? Where are the others?

I wondered why they were nowhere to be seen. No, I saw the rest of the Treasure Hoarders actually. They escaped!

As questions kept popping up in my head, I searched for them where they were fighting.

At this moment, I fell silent. My eyes trembled in mounting fear. Blood gushed on the ground like a gruesome painting.

The flowing blood formed sinister patterns, igniting a fear in me that felt so enveloping.

It's the corpse of the Treasure Hoarders who got shot!

Half of them have died by him?! With just one hand?!

What about the boss? I looked at the hill where the boss was standing. There the boss looked at me. He was silent and had no intention of helping.

Boss? You seriously don't want to help these minions of yours who are in danger?!

At this moment, the boss turned around and approached Amelia. Then, he walked with Amelia. His steps were moving away. They were leaving. They left me here!

Oh yeah now that you feel you can't fight it you're leaving?! Come on, I've got the revolver.

Grabbed the trigger of the revolver in my hand. The shadow of the young man stood in front of me.

I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself as I adjusted my fingers around the trigger.

The seconds felt like centuries, the thrill of tension almost unbearable.

Then, I squeezed the trigger, towards the young man's foot! The second felt like an age, the vibration of the bullet whizzing by and trapped in the air, creating an irreversible moment.

As the whirring sound of the revolver filled the air, my eyes watched the young man's every move.

No reaction was heard or seen from his one red-eyed eyes.

I only knew one thing. The bullet didn't hit him!

He has armor that can withstand bullets!

Run! I turned around and tightened my leg muscles.

I put the revolver back into my inventory.

At this moment, my body staggered, my strength seemingly being sucked away by something invisible.

In the confusion and chaos, I felt myself falling down without being able to control my own body's movements.

As I fell to the ground, I felt something stab into my right leg. Damn it... it hurts! The stabbing pain seemed to tear at the muscles and bones there, making me almost scream in pain.

When I grabbed my leg tremblingly, I was surprised to see that there was no sign of the bullet there. Dude... what did he shoot with?!

Probably using the wind?!

Then it made sense.

"Don't expect you to run away from me."

I don't understand why you hate me so emotionally. I didn't attack you at all, okay?

I only attacked your girl...

Okay, maybe that's the problem.

You got angry because I attacked your girl?

With all the strength I had left, I tried to get up from the ground to escape. I didn't care anymore. I will survive no matter what!

My steps felt shaky and uncertain, but my determination to survive gave me extra strength. That's right, I still want to live. I will continue to live!

With my heart racing, I was ready to run as far as I could from this place. This is a cursed place. I regret following those Treasure Hoarders! Damn traitors!

However, I felt an electrifying and powerful aura, feeling so close from behind, sending horrible tremors rippling through my entire body.

She's really angry! I must leave here immediately. Otherwise... otherwise...

The winds felt so angry, flipping my emotions around mercilessly, as if they were invading into the dark and fearful space of my heart.

I was transfixed, not daring to step forward or look back, sensing that if I did, I would face unimaginable calamity.

He seemed to be saying in my ear: just do it, and you will die without knowing it.

An eerie silence filled the air around me, punctuated only by the increasingly angry and terrifying gusts of wind.

I knew I would die if I looked back. Yet, I did it anyway.

Just as I thought. As soon as I turned around. My eyes widened as I witnessed the young man holding a sword enveloped by the wind, as if the two were an inseparable whole.

I was stunned by the beauty and power emanating from that weapon. However, in the tense silence, fear crept up on me slowly.

I felt an eerie vibration, as if the wind itself carried unspoken messages, creating a tense and dark atmosphere.

It's a beautiful wind, yet so evil. Because... because it was going to kill me!

I felt myself being shackled by the sword's powerful aura. The winds felt so wild, caressing my face with unexpected violence, as if they wanted to drive me away from this place.

However, I remained rooted to the spot, unable to move because of the fear frozen in every nerve.

It was useless, I was definitely going to die this time... even if I fired the bullet it would turn back.

Vision users are such jerks!

But I'm not giving up, I'm going to live. For Ei, for Raiden Shogun!

Sword. If I touch the sword, will I die?

It's worth a try, but don't let me get cut down.

Then, I looked at the girl.

She gave me an unhappy look. However, she was no longer panicking like before.

It doesn't matter. I'll use everything to survive.

I exhaled. My gaze fell on the sword held by the Treasure Hoarders corpse behind the young man.

I'll take that first!

As soon as I said that in my mind, I immediately ran around him.

The young man's eyes continued to follow me. Not letting his guard down at all. Probably wondering what I was doing.

While I was running, the young man calmly slashed the air with his sword. Damn! I forgot about that invisible attack!

Bang!

At that moment, I felt a sudden tremor pierce my abdomen, as if something invisible had pierced my body with terrifying force. It hurts so much... isn't this attack much stronger than before?! Is this because of the slash?! However, why wasn't I dead yet?

My stomach instantly felt hot, followed by an unbearable stabbing sensation. However, in my predicament I kept thinking that: why wasn't I dead?

Indeed, my body was trembling in a state of shock, and pain that stabbed like a sharp knife permeated every fiber of my body.

And also I was pushed by that one attack roughly all the way to the Treasure Hoarders' corpses lying on the ground.

My body felt paralyzed by pain, and fresh blood began to gush from the wound, creating creepy red traces on the ground.

However, the question was why wasn't I dead?

At this moment, I glanced at the Treasure Hoarders who were lying down. Their chests were going up and down... up and down.

They're still alive!

They're pretending to be dead!

These bastards! They pretended to be dead so they wouldn't be killed by him!

At this moment, the young man approached me slowly. He dragged his sword on the ground.

I, on the other hand, continued to drag my body backwards, driven by the fear that filled every fiber of my body.

However, I came to a sudden halt. My breath came in gasps. Then, my gaze fell on the dead in front of me.

The young man stood in front of me, looking down at me with a death stare. He raised his soul-stirring sword.

And the sun, shining on his sword, reflected the light that filled the surroundings.

Then, he slashed at me. It pierced my skin, pierced my heart and separated me from life.

The warmth of my blood flooded the dry, solid ground beneath me.

I felt a piercing pain, rushing through my body like the wind. However, all that pain all disappeared in an instant.

My consciousness dimmed, swept away by the pitch-blackness that embraced my entire being. My body felt adrift in the void. Where am I?

I had no idea at all. I no longer knew where I was.

I felt myself sinking into infinite darkness, with no glimmer of light to illuminate my path.

Was it possible that I was already dead?

Everything became vague, and I felt like I had been thrown into a bottomless pit that was gaping at me.

In this final moment, I knew one thing: that my journey was over.

However, in the dark silence, suddenly, a bright flash struck, splitting the darkness that enveloped me.

What the hell is that?! I was startled, feeling a strong tremor through my body, as if the lightning had touched my soul.

As the lightning dimmed, I realized the presence of an object descending from the sky. It was brightly lit and purple in color. An object that was exactly the same as the boss's and the two people we fought, but a different color.

Vision Electro, just given to me.

The Vision glowed in the darkness, emitting a captivating purple light.

I felt new power flowing through me, filling every fiber and cell.

In that moment a bright light filled me.
