Chapter 14 - Ch. 14: Their Fates

Stunning orange and red colors decorated the twilight sky. Around us, bonfires burned gloriously, bathing our faces in a warm glow. The air was starting to get cold.

I gathered with the other Treasure Hoarders as evening approached. sitting among them put on a face of depression and pain.

As the sun dipped lower in the western horizon, the twilight rays began to fade and the night sky began to unfold with its sparkling beauty of stars.

It was the most beautiful sight to my eyes at the moment. You could say it's a medicine to deal with the stress of this gloomy atmosphere.

My eyes are always looking here and there. Looking for the boss who is nowhere to be seen.

I'm tired of traveling. I'd rather sit down and wait for the boss to come when it's time to gather in the center. Lots of laughter and booze.

I sighed. I checked Amelia. But there was no sign of the boss or the couple.

Maybe Amelia was just an ordinary woman. She was harmless... However, I couldn't let my guard down. In the end, everyone here has a gray status.

As I fussed with my thoughts, the warm embrace of the campfire enveloped me with a touch of warmth, hypnotizing my heart with its sparkling rhythm.

Its sound rumbled in the silence of the night, dancing amongst the dark ceiling of nature.

The scent of burning wood filled my senses, creating an alluring harmony between the flames and the the smell of nature.

I continued to observe it while thinking of the many scenarios of the fate that would befall the couple... would the boss forgive them? The answer should be no. While thinking about this, I looked at the campfire.

The smoldering flames cast shadows around it, creating an interesting and magical play of light and shadow.

Every little movement of the fire attracted attention. Every jump of a spark fades away so quickly.

The soft, warm touch of the flame invites me to contemplate.

Amidst the glow of the campfire, the boss came with a gallant stride. Behind him, the young man and the girl appeared. Their hands and necks were bound by iron chains. The iron chains were shiny in the dim light.

As I looked at their pale and tired faces, the thunderous sound of the boss's approaching steps made me feel tense and alert.

I covered my nose. The smell of iron from the binding chains mixed with the smell of sweat. So pronounced.

My eyes caught the girl glancing at me. I knew at a glance that she had just cried. The puffiness of her eyes showed it clearly. However, her face was so determined.

I wondered how long she could maintain that determination, when the next incident began.

After wondering to myself, I turned my gaze to the young man's face. Pale and dirty, there was swelling on his cheeks.

Had he been hit hard by the boss? I wanted to witness that!

Never mind, I'm just kidding, okay? An angry boss would be so scary...

Honestly, my heart hurt a bit, realizing that this was the real world. The young man looked deeply depressed, his gaze was the same as mine when I was still in the room, empty, facing the computer without thinking about what the future would be like.

He was basically a human being who had no soul and no destination. I sighed.

A few moments later, the boss pulled the young man's chain roughly. Then, he was kicked until he fell to the ground.

That must have hurt. Witnessing the scene, I turned to the girl. She was trying to hold back her rage. However, she managed to hold back when she looked away. She bit her lip. Maybe I saw it wrong, just now, a speck of blood escaped from her soft lips.

At this moment, the Treasure Hoarders started to stand up. I know what they did next... they walked up to the girl. Surrounding her. I didn't see William or Alex there, maybe they weren't as interested as I was.

Boss? He also left after removing the girl's chain on her neck.

Her steps retreated hesitantly amidst the suffocating pressure, stepping back step by step like an animal cornered in its cage.

Meanwhile, the Treasure Hoarders watched ferociously, surrounding the girl with unstoppable malice.

Suddenly her body fell with a shudder, arms and hands trying to resist and fight back.

She threw objects that her hands could reach, creating a rattling sound and an intermittent silence.

The desperate cries that broke from her lips tore through the silence of the night, creating waves of grief that hit my heart fiercely.

I couldn't stand it. I turned my face away. As I said, that girl's fate would end in ruin.

My eyes were glued to the young man. He was staring at his girl with an incredulous look. His eyes were completely empty, like he was going to cry within seconds.

You lost your right hand, and you lost your girl... your fate is much more miserable.

I continued to observe the young man who watched with tears in his eyes.

My ears caught the sound of clothes being torn off forcefully. "Stop!", "Stop!" I could hear the refusal clearly, as if that one refusal showed how desperate she was.

Tears, the sound of a girl being tossed about by fate. I listened with my pair of ears.

I closed my eyes. However, my ears continued to adapt to the silence of the night, drawn in by the slow wincing sighs and the heartbreaking strains of sighs.

At that moment, in the stillness of the night, the rumble of sighs broke the silence, penetrating time and space.

Like a disjointed melody, the sound flowed with an unpredictable rhythm, creating a strange harmony in the dark air.

I could create a scenario: The body wrestling in pleasure and delight feels so close, yet otherwise it's like a dark dream world.

But slowly, the alluring scent and enticing sighs became one, merging into a gripping harmony of darkness.

In every sigh heard, there are unspoken stories, secrets hidden in the shadows of the night. Moaning and struggling bodies are metaphors of raging desires, of unrealized wishes, of forbidden dreams.

They are part of the dark drama hidden behind the curtain of night, a story that never fully unfolds, but always teases and seduces.

I knew one thing: the girl had given up completely.
